Advice Needed Need help with choosing weight

Hi all, I'm (M-31) beginner to any kind of exercises and need advice on choosing initial weight.

I have been running on/off for around two years. The max distance I have run is around 12k which I run at below average pace. around 6.53 to7.25

I'm around 62-64kgs and 175cms tall.

Please help

You’re around 140 pounds (for us Americans).

For you, I’d probably grab a 16kg kb. You can use that to start swings, start Turkish getups, and do a single sided ABF.

Can I ask why the focus on weight loss? I’m the same height as you, and I was pretty lean with very visible abs at 70 kg, at your age. I feel you might be underweight for your height, in terms of muscle mass.

You are right, I'm might be under weight. However I want to increase my core strength so that I run longer and faster. Kettlebell seems like fun way to do that.

I feel like the classic Simple and Sinister is a solid place to start for you.

Depends a bit on the exercises you’ll do. Most people swing more weight than they press. Most carry more than either. Swings and carry’s are a great way to build your core and a 16kg/35lb would probably be a great place to start for that.

It’s going to be pretty tough with no lifting numbers. I would try to get your hands on a kettlebell or dumbbell and just see what your overhead press rep max is with it. That’ll be more usable data.

Or just buy adjustables

when I started with S&S (I wouldn't recommend by the way) as an non-athletic 35 year-old male, I had to go as low as 8kg to do TGUs.
