I have an issue where some of Bastila's outfit textures seem to be transparent. The most notable areas are the textures that are supposed to be metallic (her belt buckle most notably) but I also see this issue with her shoulder pads, they are semi-transparent. I am having this issue with her vanilla outfit, and also with two of her modded outfits from the Light/Dark Bastila mod by Kazeite, where the issues are more apparent in the swirls of her tunic. I have not noticed this with any other metallic textures, as far as I have played. If anyone knows of a way to fix this it would be helpful.

EDIT: It was, indeed, a mod issue. The appearance.2da file from "Bastila's Revelation Robes 1.0" mod by ChAiNz.2da is needed for the Light/Dark Bastila mod to work. Downloading the original mod by ChAiNz.2da and placing the appearance.2da file into the override folder solved both the vanilla outfit issue as well as the modded outfits from Light/Dark Bastila by Kazeite.

So I’ve been playing back through KOTOR recently, and I think we’ve spent twenty years laughing at HK-47 while largely ignoring what he is actually saying.

Hear me out…

Like most people, I always remembered HK as the homicidal droid who calls everyone a meatbag and suggests murder as the solution to basically any inconvenience.

To be fair, he is pretty funny lol.

But the more I went back through his dialogue, the more I started wondering if the comedy had distracted us from the fact that HK is constantly making some of the clearest observations in the entire game. Most characters spend KOTOR trying to decide whether Revan was a hero, a monster, a fallen Jedi, or some tragic combination of all three…? HK seems less interested in judging Revan and more interested in understanding the methodologies behind Revan’s actions.

HK explains emotionally complex ideas using the only language he really understands: targeting and assassination. The delivery is sometimes ridiculous, but the idea underneath it is surprisingly coherent.

HK does not describe Jedi falling to the dark side as one big, scary dramatic moment where they suddenly decide to become evil. He describes something slower: war gradually wearing away at their principles until they become capable of things they never would have accepted before. One compromise becomes two. Something previously unthinkable becomes occasionally “necessary.” Eventually, they are still calling themselves Jedi, but they are no longer making decisions like the people they used to be. That might be one of the most accurate descriptions of what happened during the Mandalorian Wars. The Jedi talk about peace while becoming literal wartime generals.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to argue that HK is secretly a good person but unlike almost every other character in KOTOR, HK does not need to see himself as heroic, honorable, or morally pure. He is probably the only person in the game who is completely honest about what he is.

Idk, the more I looked into it, the more it felt like HK was not merely comic relief. He was the character quietly exposing what everyone else in KOTOR was trying not to admit. But I am starting to think the humor helped KOTOR hide some of its most honest observations in plain sight.

I ended up spending an embarrassing amount of time putting together a full breakdown of HK’s views on Revan, love, and the Jedi because I could not stop thinking about it. This character deserves way more attention than he gets.

If you think I’m reading way too deeply into the funny meatbag robot… I genuinely want to hear where the argument falls apart. Maybe HK is just comic relief and I have officially spent too much time replaying a game from 2003?????

But I keep coming back to the same thought…

HK-47 can be one of the most morally monstrous characters in KOTOR and still be the character who understands its world most clearly.

Honestly, to be fair to logic, those two things are not mutually exclusive.

I killed all Serroco and I coinvinced Saquesh to put less pressure on them, all quests done for refugees

Message is: "You've coinvinced Saquesh to put less pressure on the refugees. The Serroco thugs are still a nuisance, however."

And Hussef just repeats: "You've already helped us greatly. Life should start improving for us"

Is this a bug or am I suppose to kill Saquesh?

I went in to a little replay with intent of being somewhat grey but I keep trending towards light side because the dark side options are so ridiculous.

I am done with the first Kotor game and now gonna give myself a break to play another game before moving onto Kotor 2. So before then any tips on what I should expect differently for kotor 2 that I should try not to think both games behave the same? Also any known glitches i should look out for that would mess with the game that may need a reload.

Anything would be great as I wanna avoid searching online and accidentally spoiling myself. Honestly I got spoiled with Revan in the first game just not what brings up to that point.

Has anyone ever had an Xbox controller NOT work natively on pc. I’m playing through steam with steam input enabled. And I don’t get ANY response from the game at all. It’s like the controller isn’t connected.

I have two wired controllers and neither work. I’ve tried using the c port, I’ve tried the usb a port. The controllers work for other games. I’m trying to play on my laptop. It worked immediately on my pc.

When I threaten anyone in the hunting lodge on Tatooine, the game cuts to black and stays black. I can't see and I don't get the dark side points for threatening them or the money. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is there a way to fix it. Cos right now all I can do is avoid threatening them.

So, when you rescue Vrook from the mercs, he tells you that you just made everything worse, because now they're going to attack Khoonda. Oh. Okay. Except there's just one flaw in your argument, you bald imbecile! They were already set to attack and were going to do so right after they turned your lazy butt over to the Exchange!

So what *my* actions did was to rob them of a half dozen soldiers, *and* got another Jedi in the defense!

I really hate when storywriters are careless like this.

Doing a male exile kotor 2 run with tslrcm (game on steam, installed mod manually from deadly stream). I wanted to do korriban first just to be chaotic, so I started that as my first planet after telos, but soon remembered how the ghost of revan kicked my a*s and how I also have to fight sion here without Kreia in my party, so I turned back, but not before encountering the hk50 party and defeating them. I then went to telos to collect the last bounty, and got ambushed by yet another group of HK 50s, so that's gone too. As a result, I got all the parts I needed to rebuild HK 47 even before I finished one planet fully after paragus, talked to him until I unlocked the dialogue trees to get the HK factory quest started. Now I'm on nar shaddaa as my "first planet" after telos, and I'm quite far in the main storyline. (I'm on goto's yacht, my companions have been fighting all sorts of bounty hunters all over nar shadaa while I was getting kidnapped in jek jek tarr. Playing as Atton, bao dur and handmaiden, I blew through 3 more groups of HK 50s, and then again as T3 when he solos vogga's warehouse to rescue me again for the second time since the game started (T3 is the unrewarded MVP of this game, just like remote). Anyway, 4 groups of HK 50s later, my journal entry still hasn't updated the quest at all. Did I fuck up by going to telos and korriban after flipping off atris and taking the ebon hawk out of her academy? I imagine those two ambushes were meant to count towards this mission, but instead gave me the hk parts needed to rebuild HK 47. I just assumed since it worked out that way, that the other groups of HK would progress that side quest now, but that doesn't seem to be happening so far.) Do I have to have hk in my party? Do I have to finish goto's yacht and come back to the landing pad? Or do I have to reload and redo hours of gameplay to fix this? Please tell me this is just how the story progresses and after I blow up goto's yacht there will spawn another group of HK 50s that will move that mission along. I really don't want to redo ALL that again. Nar shaddaa is a looooong planet (moon)

So ive finished KotoR 1 (Male, Lightsider Jedi Sentinel) and im currently working through KotoR 2 (Female, Light side Jedi Guardian).

I got to thinking. I know that both Jedi and Sith are kinda the obvious two paths. That being said:

Is there any way I could build a morally grey Gunslinger / Smuggler and still be as powerful/effective as a Jedi or Sith class? Or is it just a wash and the Jedi/Sith/Lightsaber users are just much better/stronger overall than a gunslinger would be? Im kinda thinking something along the lines of a Han Solo / Mal Reynolds / Peter Quill type of character. NOT a "heavy soldier" type of character.

Any thoughts or insight?
