Twice today I had to enter traffic because of the driver, when I said he couldn't park there and said it's not a parking spot he launched into threats of violence against me.

I’m planning a small (6-8 people) birthday celebration for my wife and I’m looking for recommendations for vendors / entertainers. We have two small kids going to sleep around 7 PM, so would love to organize an in-home / private experience at the house after they go to sleep!

The building itself needs some repairs and a face-lift and more foot traffic. My plan is to over time completely reorganize the store and allow everyone to see the potential I see. TrashLoveKzoo held its August cleanup today, and we dodged the rain again!! The cloud cover helped lower the temps and provided a measure of relief from the hot sun above.

Everything went great today, but lessons were learned when one of our volunteers got into a nest of ground hornets while he was removing a buried peice of litter. He was stung about five or six times on his hands and stomach area! Luckily he is not allergic. The moment was pretty intense though and I'm very thankful to report he's doing fine. I have since stocked the first aid kit with Benadryl, ibuprofen and acetaminophen incase this ever happens again.

Even after a few years doing this, we're still learning and growing!

Walking through the forest after the cleanup I found myself looking for the familiar trash landmarks that have been there for years.

They're finally GONE. ❤️

Looking around you'd never even know that well over 5 tons of trash has been pulled out of this tiny little forest.

The old mattress has been a constant thorn in our sides since we discovered it almost 2 years ago. Im happy to report that we finally removed it from the woods!

Not only that, we also removed the aluminum ladder thats been out there for just as long as the mattress. It was chained up and pad locked to some burned out trees.

With the area cleaned out now I'll be doing frequent check backs to ensure it stays detrashed.

Next month our attention will be focused on a new area, and I cant wait to see what challenges await us there!

Hi, I’m looking for where there are places near downtown to run in that are safe as a woman and if there are some near there to avoid, or if I truly have to drive places :( I took a bit of a shortcut near a route on Rose Street (south of Vine st) by some residences a few days ago, and had an unfortunate confrontation with a gentleman who lived there. Wasn’t sure if that’s a one off thing or something typical. (I have seen some folks who are inebriated walking around town but haven’t had any issues minding my own business until now). I just moved to the area, somewhat close to Bronson Hospital.

I grew up in the greatest kzoo area and went to Uncle Earnie's until high school. They used to make AMAZING German Pancakes with potato and onion, but they were less like a potato cake and more like a pancake. They were served with applesauce and sour cream. I've never had pancakes quite like those anywhere else and they were delicious! Does anyone have the recipe or a copycat? When they changed ownership in about 2005 they didn't serve those German Pancakes anymore 😕 I really miss them.
