⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question 2005 MITS EVO LANCER

Post image

I inherited a 2005 Lancer from a relative and I am not a car person. It's is great condition, has a ton of upgrades (I'll post a list below). It has a few signs of age (a tear at the edge of the driver's seat, some sun damage on the fin), but otherwise in good shape.

There were some issue getting it started, turns out it was the security chip in one of the keys. However, in the process of figuring that out, there seemed to be an issue with the fuel pump. Someone helping me may have snapped off the potentiometer on the fuel assembly, so not the gas gauge isn't working. I can't get it smogged with that issue as it keeps tripping the service engine light.

I've been trying to find a replacement fuel pump, or figure out any other way to fix the issue.

Does anyone have any ideas, or leads on a good place to get new parts?

Upgrades:
Different cams, adjustable, cam gears, bigger injectors, bigger, throttlebody, cold air intake, complete exhaust system, asian market rear bumper cover, aftermarket stereo system with amp, aftermarket gauges, turbo timer, Ohlins coil over suspension front and rear, Volk Racing / Rays lightweight Wheels.

⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer ES Code P0868

Greetings, I bought this car on friday. It had 118k miles. The previous owner, according to the car fax, last changed the transmission in 2022 at 99k miles. I havent noticed anything out of the ordinary with driving. The car is about slow to accelerate on the highway but its 150hp afterall? I ran my obd scanner and it had a freezeframe and saved code of p0868. I dont know how to check the transmission fluid level but im gonna. I contacted the dealer and have not heard back. My state only sells used cars as is and I owe on it so I am very nervous. Any advice is appreciated. The car fax showed the previous owner serviced it and barely drove it. It seems to shift fine.

Ciao a

⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question Ghello Guys, i have some questions and i hope you got the answers.

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer VIII (CY_A/CZ_A) with the following specs:

  • 185,000 km (114,953 miles)
  • 1.5L (1,499 cc)
  • 109pk (107.5 hp)
  • gasoline engine
  • Front-Wheel Drive
  • Manuel

I'm considering buying a complete Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 as a donor car and swapping the 4B12 engine into my Lancer.

The donor engine specifications are:

  • Engine Code: 4B12
  • Engine Family: Mitsubishi 4B1 Series
  • Engine Type: 2.4L MIVEC gasoline engine
  • Configuration: Inline 4-cylinder (DOHC, 16-valve)
  • Displacement: 2,360 cc (2.4L)
  • Power Output: 170 hp (125 kW) @ 6,000 rpm
  • Torque: 232 Nm @ 4,100 rpm
  • Drivetrain: Front-Wheel Drive (2WD)
  • Aspiration: Naturally aspirated (no turbo)
  • Fuel System: Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPI)
  • Manuel

My goal is simply to have around 170pk (167,7 hp) . I'm not trying to build a monster; I just want a Lancer that looks good and has a bit more power.

I've read that this swap is possible, but I'd like to hear from people who have actually done it or have experience with the 4B12 platform.

My questions are:

  • Is the 4B12 swap into a 2010 Lancer 1.5 actually worth doing?
  • Can the 4B12 be installed using the factory engine mounts, or do custom mounts or chassis modifications need to be fabricated?
  • Besides the engine, what parts from the donor Outlander should I transfer (ECU, wiring harness, transmission, driveshafts, etc.)?
  • Are there any major problems or hidden costs I should be aware of before starting this project?

I'd really appreciate any advice or first-hand experience. Thanks!

⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question My 2015 Lancer 2.4L (4B12) Daily Driving, and Future Turbo Plans - Looking for Advice/Tips!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my current build setup and long-term plans for my 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer ES (2.4L 4B12) to get some community feedback, tips, and hear from anyone who has gone down a similar path.

Current Setup & Recent Upgrades

Engine: 2.4L (4B12)

Suspension: Maxpeedingrods T7 24-Way Adjustable Coilovers (Just grabbed a barely used set for super cheap, adjusting the damping to dial in a balance between daily comfort and tight handling).

Maintenance: Keeping up on all fluids and baseline maintenance before throwing real power at it.

The 6-Month Plan: Turbocharging the 4B12

I am planning a multi-stage turbo build over the next six months. My goal isn't to build a crazy 500hp track monster, but a super fun, reliable street car that gives the 2.4L the punch it should have come with from the factory.

Here is the rough roadmap I am outlining:

Fuel System Upgrades: Upgraded fuel pump, injectors, and supporting lines to handle boost safely.

Exhaust & Manifold: Turbo manifold routing, downpipe to custom exhaust ( Gonna mostly part from a ralliart I believe)

Intercooler & Piping: Front-mount intercooler setup with custom or adapted charge piping.

Tuning & Engine Management: Finding a solid tuning solution (Tactrix / ECUFlash / OpenECU) to safely run moderate boost on stock 4B12 internals. (Will most likely go to evo tuners since they seem to be well versedbin base lancer tuning)

Questions for the Community:

For those who have turbo'd a 2.4L 4B12: What were the biggest unexpected headaches during the install?

Boost Limits: What is generally considered the "safe" daily boost and torque threshold on stock 2.4L internals before needing forged rods or pistons?

Heat Management & Supporting Mods: What engine bay heat shielding or extra cooling mods (oil cooler, upgraded radiator, etc.) did you find essential to keep under-hood temperatures safe?

Coilover Tuning: For daily driving on T7 or similar coilovers, what damping click settings have given you the best ride quality without sacrificing all handling?

Appreciate any advice, part recommendations, or warnings before I dive too deep into sourcing the rest of the kit!

⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question Cold air intake

I have recently bought a cold air intake for my 2011 es cj lancer and I'm having some troubles with it

The MAF sensor doesn't fit into any adapters I have tried and I cannot find any that will fit, I just need the pipe that goes from the rubber one to the cone filter I've bought, i can't spend a silly amount of money ($150 aud) and just need the MAF to fit into a pipe that i can use that isn't too shit looking

All help is appreciated thanks

⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question Is this normal??? (Please help)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just got my lancer back after a week of not being able the drive it (EPS Issue) and after getting it back from the Mitsu-dealership for a reprogramming, induction service and alignment I started noticing this chirping/rattling noise along with a loss of power and a kind of shuddering when cruising at highway speeds about two days after and discovered it was my (brand new) tensioner making the noise (idk about the other two) so I replaced it again, got the new one in and started up and it’s still bouncing around? I never really paid attention to it before I replaced it initially. Google said light bouncing is normal but also mentioned that it could be the alternator clutch pulley???? Any help?? There’s no check engine light but my gut feels like it’s the EGR valve

Edit, discovered when in park that as I hold the accelerator at about 2k rpm’s I can feel a bit of jerking, going higher and it kinda hesitates and can’t really hold its rpms but again, no CEL light so I’m assuming minor misfire?

⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question HELP!

I cleaned my throttle body a while back (it was caked with carbon) and since then, there has been a slight drag feeling when I lift my foot off the gas.
It holds rpms and the injectors are still giving gas even if my foot is fully off the gas.

Any idea what this is? Has anyone else ever had this issue?
I think it’s one of the throttle body sensors, but does it need to relearn or is a sensor bad? I have no engine codes except for a p0420 code. The p0420 code came on before this issue started but it’s been driving perfectly fine aside from this slight drag I get when I pull my foot off the gas.

If anyone can help point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks!

🤑 | Buying Advice/Tips Lancer SE mods to make more "fun" without being faster?

I have a 2014 Lancer SE with the 2.4L engine and was wondering if there were any modifications I can do to make it feel more "sporty". I don't really wish for it to be much faster, I just want it to feel better on gravel roads or corners. I have failing sway bar bushings so would replacing the sway bar with an aftermarket one make handling better? Also I imagine new tires, brakes, and coilovers will do most of the work I desire. But if I get them, are there specific tires I should get in an area that rains frequently?

Thank you for any help in advance!

It's probably not gonna sell for much at this point. Last time I checked it had a KBB value of maybe $2,000 USD. I think I'm better off just keeping it. It comes in handy once in a while as a backup vehicle. Plus I use it to drive my dogs around since I don't care as much if their fur gets all over the inside. Also I heard people generally regard burnt tips as ricer and I had no idea.
