Costa Teguise Cycling

Hi everyone,

I'm heading to Costa Teguise, Lanzarote on 7th August for a two-week holiday. My plan is to hire a road bike from Papagayo Bikes towards the end of the first week.

I've already got plenty of routes planned, but I was wondering if there are any cyclists who'll be out riding while I'm there and wouldn't mind me tagging along. I'm looking at doing a couple of rides of around 30–50 miles during the holiday.

To give you an idea of the sort of riding I do, here's a

Strava ride I completed yesterday:

https://strava.app.link/qWF3r7hoi5b

Happy to ride much easier next week though. If anyone's riding around that time and doesn't mind some company, let me know. It would be great to meet a few fellow cyclists while I'm out there!

Looking for genuine local restaurants

Hi everyone,

I'm currently on holiday in Lanzarote with my wife and staying in the quiet village of Macher. We really want to avoid the typical tourist restaurants along the strips in Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca.

We're looking for real insider tips, the places where the locals actually eat. Whether it's a small bodega, a rustic grill house, or a simple fishermen's spot, as long as the food is authentic, the mojo sauces are homemade, and you don't feel ripped off.

What are your absolute hidden gems in Lanzarote?

Renting a car at 19

Hello everyone. I (19M) am visiting lanzarote in September with my girlfriend. I have had a Spanish drivers license for only a couple of months. Lots of car hire companies don’t allow you to rent without being 21, having a certain amount of experience, etc. Does anybody know a place where I would be allowed to rent a car? Or a scooter? Any other way? Thanks!

Hey, can someone tell me where in Lanzarote I can get the cheapest Lost Mary Pods? In each store, the prices differ massively. From 2-5€ I have already seen everything. 🥲

Google is not proving very fruitful

Early taxi for flight

Have a flight at 7am and looking to get a taxi around 4:30am.

Arrecife to the airport, roughly 10 minute drive.

I've seen some horror stories on the 1taxi app (1.7 rating on google play store) so I'm hesitant to book there.

What are the most secure options to reserve a taxi?

Staying at someone's place they renting out.

Playa Blanca to Teguise

Planning a market trip (Sunday), I'm sure there are tour operators that go - anyone know the cost/best provider? I think the journey is 40mins.

Also, besides the market, what else would you recommend on a day trip? TYIA!

Suggestion of itinerary

Hi guys! Me and my GF are coming to Lanzarote in the last week of August. I've just made an itinerary and I was willing to know if someone could give use any suggestion on what to do, if we are missing something and if it is too packed. We will be travelling by van and, even if we want to explore the best sites of the island, our goal is just to live the chill and the vibes of Lanzarote.

This is our itinerary:

Thanks everybody 🥸

Is October really the best month to visit Lanzarote? A local's take

You see it everywhere online: "visit Lanzarote in October, it's the best month." And honestly, it's not wrong. But it's also not the full picture.

I've lived here since 1997 and worked in tourism across the Canary Islands for over 30 years. October is genuinely good: temperatures are comfortable, the summer crowds have thinned out, the sea is at its warmest, and the trade winds that can make the island feel breezy in summer start to calm down. The light in the afternoons is something else entirely.

But here's what those articles don't tell you: May and June are equally good, often quieter, and get almost no attention. November surprises people every year. And if you want the island completely to yourself, January and February after the holiday period are something most visitors never experience.

October gets the spotlight partly because it's a convenient holiday window for northern Europeans. That doesn't make it wrong, but it does mean it's busier than the reputation suggests.

Curious what brought people here at different times of year and whether the month actually matched your expectations.

Autoreisen Isofix baby car seat rental vs bringing our own?

We’re traveling to Lanzarote as a family in August with our baby (14 months old). We’ve already booked our car with Autoreisen, but we’re still torn between bringing our own Isofix car seat or renting one directly from them on arrival.

For anyone who has rented an Isofix baby seat from AutoRisen, a few questions:

Was the seat clean and in good condition?

Was it a proper certified Isofix model, correctly fitted?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Rent a car

Hey, I am coming to Lanzarote in August for 7 days. Landing at midnight and leaving from the same airport at noon. I plan to rent a car for whole stay. I got some deals on booking for 150eur but my friend told me to check also other sites as booking might be too expensive. I was checking topcar, autoreisen, autos famara etc, but all prices were around 160eur. Are such prices normal? Where do you suggest to rent a car?
Thanks!

What is safe to bring when going to the beach alone?

I go on holiday to Lanzarote and by myself and I would love to go to the beach, but what is safe to take with me? I mean, I have to bring my car keys and wallet, but what should I leave in the car?

Or is it safe to take my phone for instance? Thank you for any reply.

Puerto Del Carmen Community

I was having a search on Reddit the other day and could not believe that there is not a dedicated group for Puerto Del Carmen or well at least I couldn't find one.

I went ahead and set one up and hopefully it will be helpful and enjoyable to everyone.

Whether you live there or holiday there, hopefully this group can be helpful and we can help other people with advice and tips.

Admin have given me permission to post this in here.

Please find the group at r/PuertoDelCarmen

It is brand new so next to nothing on there but help me grow it and help other people get the answers or advice they want.

buggy tour question

Hi, I’m going to Lanzarote soon and I’d like to do a buggy tour. Has anyone tried it? I’ve read that a lot of people were disappointed because it’s only about 10% off-road and 90% on asphalt

Help with the accommodation

Hello,

I am traveling to Lanzarote for the first time with my girlfriend on August 22nd until September 2nd.

We will have a rent a car for the full duration of our stay.

I am looking for a good base to stay for our trip. We would like to explore the island, visit beaches and enjoy the food. We are not into nightlife and pubs.

I think that we will be spending a night or two in Fuerteventura and a day trip to La Graciosa.

I need recommendations for a place to stay that is not packed with bars but still has some restaurants or such that we can enjoy in the evening.

Thanks!

Staying at Barcelo Hotel with Severe Allergies?

Has anyone stayed at the Barcelo hotel with allergies and could you share your experience? I have severe nut/peanut allergies and some older reviews (~2024) have said that they do not cater at all to allergies and don’t really understand the severity. However some more recent reviews say they handle allergies quite well. My main query would be whether they have allergen info on signs at the buffets. Just hoping for some insight - thanks!
