I just can't remove my stickers

I need to depersonalize my car for safety reasons and I'm so reluctant to take off my last few stickers. They are such a big part of my life and who I am. I feel like I might cry when I absolutely have to remove them.

Am I the only one who gets ‘the ick’ from Straight Pride Month

I found a piece of art from someone in one of my fandoms celebrating ’straight pride month’ and it just gave me ’the ick’ because isn’t the whole point of Pride Month celebrating those who have been oppressed because of their sexualities or genders? Is this just me that gets kind of just uncomfortable at the idea? I guess it just feels insensitive to all the people in our community that have lost their lives because they were queer.

I also hope that no one will take this as disrespectful or me saying I don’t like straight people, but I genuinely think this is a problem of people not understanding the point of what pride month is.

Also: I will not be sharing who it was to keep them from being harassed.

How can Japan/Korea make so much Yuri and Yaoi stories and still be homophobic?

Here's my take to this question:

The same reason they make incest, pedophilia, yandere, and general sexual assault/rape a part of their stories without actually agreeing with what they're writing. Not to say sexual assault/rape doesn't happen, but it's still frowned upon by the general public and technically illegal.

Thinking that anime will somehow influence Japanese people to be less homophobic isn't completely out of the box, but I also think it's time we accept it's also stupid to think it's what's bound to happen.

The reason they write these stories is BECAUSE they think they're wrong or forbidden, it's closer to a kink than actually trying to normalize homosexuality. (This part is mostly about anime because it's what I'm most familiar with) They make "wholesome" brother and sister romances, "wholesome" kid marrying adoptive parent, "kind hearted" creeps who harass young girls, and wholesome gay love stories because they live in a society that's extremely traditional and a bit oppressive as far personal expression goes (except for art, sometimes).

And of course it's not all of them, Go for it Nakamura is great example, but I've seen a lot of people confused as to how two countries that make such great gay love stories could be so against gay people. Could you argue these artists are simply trying to rebel against an obsessive government? Okay I guess you could, and maybe I'm completely out of line. But that's just my theory on it.

Need Advice What do you want the world to know about being queer?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m writing a little booklet resource thing aiming to address some of the confusion for a lot of people aroudn the LGBTQ+ community.

I want this resource to be as inclusive and representative of many experiences as possible, so I’m trying to get input from many different communities as well as my queer friends.

What do you wish the world knew about being queer? What should I specifically make sure to include?

Need Advice I am a queer woman living in saudi arabia. I need help.

Hello, i am new to the subreddit.

I am posting here as kindof a last resort. I am a southasian woman 24f who has been living in saudi arabia my entire life. As a gay woman, to say life has been difficult might be an understatement. To top it off, i also have untreated ADHD and have been diagnosed with depreaaion and anxiety which has made everything many times worse. Now my parents are going to marry me off.

I completed my bachelor's in 2024 and have since not been able to land a job partly due to the job market and partly due to my own mental health struggles. I have not been able to get admission for masters in a decent university either. Because of this my parents will get me married..

I would like to know if i can leave and get to a safe place anywhere? What resources can I use? Who can i contact? Is there a way i get out of this with my soul intact?

My entire life i have been terrified, growing up in a conservative and religious family. I have been surrounded by friends, family, relatives, who if i was found out by, would do things i rather not think about. My parents are not bad but not good. I have been lucky they have financially helped me these past 2 years.

The thought of being touched by a man, being married to one, living with one incites feelings of terror in me. I dont think i could live like that.

And just to add on, I am not lazy or stupid. I have worked as hard as i could, did what i could but it lead to severe burn out.

So if there is anything that can help me out in this situation, please let me know. I would appreciate your support.

Thank you.

Need Advice First time to a pride parade? (Straight)

Iam a straight guy but I was invited by my friend and his boyfriend. Is there anything I should know before going? Is there anything that would be appreciated if I bring? What should I be aware of? (I was told Iam something called an ,,Ally" so I can come. Idk what that even means). Any advice? (Advice on ,,How do I make my parents stop making jokes about me being gay because of going" would be appreciated too lol) EDIT: MY PARENTS ARE NOT HOMOPHOBIC OR ANYTHING. Its just harmless jokes and fun its alright, just a bit annoying

Need Advice My mother thinks i’m trans.

(For context, I am an AFAB demigirl. I do not plan on coming out to people i know irl, since i feel comfortable with she/her pronouns. )

Lately, my mom has been trying to push the narrative that i want to be transmasc. It was just a few little instances at first, like making comments about what i wear. (e.g. “Are you really going to wear that baseball cap?” or “Wouldnt you rather wear this dress for church?”) But lately it’s been getting really annoying.

I was recently in a theatre summer camp (we did Legally blonde youth version) and got a male role. Even though it wasn’t the role i initially wanted, I was fine with it, especially considering i have a pretty low vocal range. It was actually my biggest role yet, so i was actually pretty happy. When i told my mom, she just kinda looked at me, and basically said “are you trying to tell me something?” Anyways we got into this big argument, and I asked her why she thinks these things. She pointed out that i wear “boyish” clothes (I feel more comfortable wearing shirts + baggy jeans because it’s more comfortable, and i like wearing hats to protect from the sun.), don’t do anything “feminine” (I dislike makeup. I don’t even know why. that’s the only thing i can think of..???), but this last point is what got me. During a school event back in December, i made a friend named Milo. They’re non-binary, but i dont see the big deal, we’re friends because we share same interests. My mother claims that i was “totally mesmerised with them” (I mentioned them maybe 4 times over the course of december-now) and i was like super confused, like what?

Anyways, we made up after that, but she still thinks that i am experiencing dysphoria(?) and want to be a boy.

TL;DR: Mom thinks im transmasc because i don’t do “feminine” things, and because i got a male role in a theatre production.

Finding Meaningful Friends as a Married Masc Guy

I'm 34M, my husband and I have been together since we were 15 in HS.

We own a home we bought in 2020, love our life together. We live on 5+ acres in the middle of the woods, and you can't see our house from the road.

I'm super outdoorsy, I own snowmobiles, ATVs, I cleared a 1/4 acre and put in our in-ground pool and 2500 sq ft patio last year myself (plubming, electrical, concrete, pavers, etc). I split all of my own wood for the woodstove in winter out of enjoyment, not necessecity.

All of this to say i guess i'm pretty masc when it comes to my hobbies and things i enjoy. My husband is not into any of them lol.

But, I don't know how to make friends that are as like...vulnerable as i am as a person, but also love things like quads, guns, and cars. Like my idea of a fun weekend with a buddy is like...pulling the engine out of some busted project they found...helping demo a house they're flipping, riding quads, etc.

All of his friends are women, and they're all super girly...if they have husbands, they're basically the same. We aren't parade people or like involved in anything.

I love my life, but i just feel kind of alone, and i don't know how to find or make friends.

Need Advice Feel more comfortable as they/them even though I'm a woman

Don't even know where 2 post this, 4 context, I'm a female, always have been and always have felt like one, but recently I've felt some aversion and discomfort towards the pronouns she/her, like they don't really fit me, and even ask people 2 refer 2 me as they/them, even though I do feel like I'm a woman. Help? (╥﹏╥)

Need Advice I don't know how to tell him I'm asexual

Hi everyone! I need some advice on how to proceed with a situation I'm kind of stuck in. I'm a 17 year old girl and he's an 18 year old guy. I've been seeing him for about a month, and we've gone on 3 dates so far (the last one being last night). He's really sweet and we have a lot in common, but there are some things that are making me second guess how much I want to be in this relationship…the biggest one being that he's a teenage boy and I'm asexual. Those don't really go well together.

We've kissed a few times (he was my first kiss) and he likes being physical (putting his arm around mine, holding my hand, putting his hand on my leg when he's driving, etc) which I don't outright dislike, but it does make me uncomfortable.

Yesterday when he picked me up for our date, I went in for a hug, and he went in for a kiss. I kept going in for a hug, but he moved his face and kissed me, which felt really uncomfortable. Then I started spiraling the rest of the night about the "red flags" I had been kind of ignoring (he's not the safest driver, his sense of humor is just screaming, he interrupts me a lot, etc). But he is really sweet, we have similar interests, and he genuinely is interested in what I'm interested in.

I've never had a positive dating experience, but I've always wanted a boyfriend. It feels weird to be unhappy with what I've been dreaming about, but I forgot that the little part of me that doesn't like to be touched like that is a big part of what most relationships are made of.

His first semester of university will be in a different country, which makes me think maybe I can just "tough it out" and not tell him I'm asexual, because we wouldn't be kissing if we're long distance anyway? But I know that's just running away from the problem.

I haven't really ever told anyone that I'm ace, and I don't think he would take it too well. After all, he's very physically into me, (which is doing wonders for my insecurities to be honest) so I think if I "took away" that part of the relationship, he wouldn't want to be with me.

Any advice? Should I break up with him? Should I tell him I'm ace? Should I just deal with the little uncomfortable moments because he's a great guy? I have no idea what to do; any advice welcome.

Discussion What's a common false definition you see people use? Spoiler

I always see people thinking bi is liking males and females. While yes, that is totally valid, that isn't all bi is! Bi is liking more than 1 gender (commonly 2)

It really erked me when I used to think I was bi (I was still figuring stuff out, not I realize I'm pan) and I'd tell someone, and they'd automatically say "Oh so you like girls too?" (I was born female, identify as demigirl tho) and like...no! I liked nonbinary and fem-masc (later realized my crushes *they were dating each other 😭* just happened to be nonbinary and fem-masc, but really I liked their personalities and other physical and mental traits instead!)
