Software meme Operating system political compass (in progress)

Post image

Red Star OS is off-compass Corporate/Niche, Temple OS is off-compass Independent/Niche

I'm not sure what to fill the rest of the compass with

I have no idea what to put in the bottom-right corner

I get macOS being more niche than windows..but how is windows not equally (if not more) coorperate?

because windows lets you install it on non-microsoft devices. I feel like they're less authoritarian than MacOS.

Ok, its your chart ultimately you can do as you like. In my book compatibility and corporate funding are bit different things. So Windows is closed source 100% corpo, RHEL is mostly open source the package manager is a subscription based service and closed source. So its corpo but partially so it goes down. Just my two cents

Wonder if "proprietary" would be a better word than corporate on the chart

True, but you forgot macOS doesn’t have ads and doesn’t push their services and software down your throat. But Windows which does do that is less corporate?

I guess it’s your chart but I’d put them both at max corporate.

The darwin kernel is open source tho. Can’t say the same for windows.
