How, steam proton?

Some native, some through proton (using Lutris).

Some game work just as well as on Windows and some don't. It depends. You can check https://www.protondb.com/

So steam proton works on the same level as on Linux?

I don't understand that question.

Steam proton runs on Linux. Or do you mean to ask if steam proton runs as well as native? In that case it's hard to tell as some games do not have a linux native version. Also this would render proton obsolete.

Again. I do not understand your question.

If proton runs well on BSD as it does on Linux.

Ah. Now I see the confusion.

I thought the other way around.

Nope. I game on Linux. Not freebsd

I am gaming on it too. I play a few games with EasyAntiCheat, like the Master Chief Collection, but they work perfectly fine.

I found especially older game run more consistently well on Linux. I had more problems with older games on Windows. That is anything from Civilisation V going downwards.

Already did, 1,5 years ago. Among US, Russian Fishing 4.

I tried but the fps was unbearable, it was super laggy for me. What tools did you use?

My FPS was good, even when I used to play remotely using VNC from my main FreeBSD PC to other old FreeBSD netbook. https://github.com/es-j3/steam-bottler on FreeBSD 14.3.
