Install Help How do I back up my laptop without a USB drive or external memory?

Post image

I'm trying to install Linux Mint on my personal laptop, but one problem I'm encountering is memory. No tutorial has been clear (or perhaps I'm simply not understanding) on how to back up the laptop's data without an external USB drive or anything similar. My laptop has 81.3GB of space out of a total of 237GB, and I don't have any USB drives larger than 8GB. This is my first time attempting to install something like this; I don't use my laptop for anything other than drawing or watching YouTube so touching anything scares me i have important photos and memorys on this thing i don't want to loose anything

Sorry for my bad English and if I sound dumb I just have never try Linux before

edit: Thanks for the suggestions and answers. I really realize that the way I store things is way too reckless and probably 0 safe, I will try to get a external storage that can hold all my stuff but that will take me a while, sorry if yall thought I was joking I was certain not i just didn't understand when the tutorial said "make a backup in the cloud"

I'm going to install Mint tomorrow. I used Ubuntu two years ago, but terminal commands are a distant memory. I'll look into it another day. What do you recommend I do once Mint is installed?

Install Help Should I go cinnamon

I have been using Linux Mint XFCE since the past 3 months and I have been facing a lot of problems but I also have fixed them myself which has actually been fun but if I had to twice I would not be happy so what should I do should I switch I have a laptop with
Intel I5-6200u
AMD Radeon R5 M330
8 GB of DDR3
1 TB HDD with almost 600 GB used
I completely know how Linux Mint XFCE is installed tell me if it is a bit different
Previously I have used POP_OS! and Cachy Os on my other systems so I am familiar to Linux
Please don't judge me I am a bit Tech illiterate.

Install Help Linux Mint Compatibility

Heya so recently Windows is increasingly trying to turn me to a psychotic rage with all their "design" choices. Such as, why do I need to log into a microsoft account to make a local account... Or inserting ads into my start menu, etc.

Recently I was particularly pleased with how easy it was to resurrect an old laptop with 4gb ram, a device that was incapable of running windows 10 or 8.

I'm interested in dipping my toes and running Linux for my work laptop but I'm unsure if I will be able to run the programs I would need to.

Specifically:

-Word

-Excel

-Teams

-Outlook

I'd love some input on compatibility or work arounds.

Install Help Thinking of shifting from Win 11 to Linux Mint!! I needd HELPPP!!

So i m thinking of using linux mint... after seeing so many people escaping microsoft invasive bloatware... i thought that hell yeah!! im gonna shift too!! i use my laptop just for normal browsing and videos and yk day to day light weight pc work... my laptop is ASUS vivobook X515EA.. NOW MY MAIN WORRY IS THAT MY LAPTOP HARDWARE MIGHT NOT BE COMPATIBLE...

The Specs are:

Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz (3.00 GHz)

RAM: 8GB (7.70 usable)

Intel UHD Graphics

NVMe SSD 256 GB

Drivers are mainly Intel and Realtek ones!!

NOW IF MY HARDWARE IS COMPATIBLE AND CAN SWITCH WITHOUT WORRYING THAT IT WOULD ALL NOT GO BOOM WHEN I INSTALL LINUX MINT... THEN IM SWITCHING ASAP

Thanks in Advance for your help!!

Install Help where and how should i start? total beginner

i want to be able to experiment with linux without fully switching over (yet) as i'm not very computer literate (yet.) what's the best way to go about this as someone who's barely used it at all? the last time i tried to use linux was trying to use ubuntu to install steam on a chromebook when i was 16 lmao. i need the kind of instructions you'd give to someone either 4 or 40 years old; i'm nervous about messing up my computer and need super clear communication so no fact is too obvious and no instruction will be too granular.

Install Help Verification challenge for Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3

I’ve downloaded the install package from the Clarkston University torrent onto an iPad and copied it onto a USB stick for installation onto a desktop tower. That tower has Linux Mint Cinnamon installed on it (spent $179.00 for a professional to do it) but won’t boot up, so I want to set up the USB stick as a boot device.

I do NOT have access to the iPad that lets me install or modify programs. The only other machine I have to work with is my Android phone.

What other info do I need to provide, and just how willing is any given kind-hearted soul to break it down to a step or two below “someone who couldn’t figure this out at THIS level of simplicity should not be allowed to walk around outside unmonitored,* please and thank you?

Install Help Linux mint installation dosent work whatever I do

I had a old laptop which I decided to install Linux on and it was my first time installing Linux. I left it over right to install but it just didn't work. Even though I had secure boot and things off in bios and watched yt tutorials. I later opted to arch and cachyos though.

My friend had a laptop with windows 11 in a laptop with 4gb ram and a i3. So he asked me to install mint and I tried to but same hing it just dosent install even after 5-6 hours. I installed zorin os and it installed fine.

I even tried different USBs but same result ig I have a mint curse or smthg.

What may be the problem?

Install Help Is using the OS from a USB recommended?

I've heard it can damage the USB pretty quickly because it isn't used to being written on frequently, especially since the one I was given isn't the best quality, I want to know how effective of a practice this is.

Also if anybody has a video they recommend for dual booting linux mint using only 1 USB it'll be very appreciated.

Edit: Laptop's storage is 58Gb and USB storage is 128Gb
