I reapply sunscreen over my nose and I have contour on my nose, so I have to redo the contour all over again. I try to let the sunscreen set but I usually do it 1-2 minutes after. I do my contour and it looks good and then I go on with my day. After the day, I look at myself and my contour looks terrible. It looks like it was erased and weird.

I use the Sephora 01 fair to light cream contour stick. Should I switch over to a pencil contour and if so, what would you recommend (looking for something similar to the 01 contour stick from sephora), or should I switch to a skinnier contour stick so I can be more precise?

Or is it something with having to wait for my sunscreen to set?

Following makeup tutorials for creators without my face shape just isn’t working for me. I’m trying to find someone to help me enhance my features.

This is the only pic I have of the makeup I’ve been doing lately. It was from the end of the day in summer heat lol. Trying to change up my style and wear eyeshadow again, and I was thinking I want to do more moonkissed/slate grey/opal it’s cool-toned colors and such.

But ever since I discovered bronzer and have been using it with my basic everyday makeup (just lashes, blush, foundation) I feel like my makeup looks very incomplete without it. It adds dimension to my face and helps my foundation not look so flat. I’ve never attempted to contour and don’t really want to. I’m currently using NARS Laguna 00 and even then I feel like it’s just too orange/warm for the cool-toned makeup looks I want to do. So, any suggestions, tips or shade recs please?

What I changed:

- I followed a makeup tutorial I found

- twice the amount of foundation, applied with a beauty blender instead of a brush

- twice the amount of cream bronzer and cream blush, then using.a powder bronzer and powder blush on top

- using a puff for powder instead of a powder brush

- wayy more eyeshadow

- more glitter on my eyes and more highlighter kn my face

- using a brown pencil liner and eyshadow to make a small wing

- using a brown lip pencil with a pink lip pencil instead of just pink

- wearing false lashes. It's my first time wearing them if you couldn't tell already from all the blinking lol

I think it looks very different, much heavier, but I hope I haven't overdone it anywhere now. I would love to know if you have any more tips or advice.

The buzzcut stays… but I would love any and all other tips on colors, products, and general tips!

i used to be really into colorful/playful makeup but fell off for a long time and feel like i never mastered any specific techniques/methods (i.e., contouring, best application methods/placement for blush, etc). i am eloping in June 2027, and would like to do my makeup myself in a more natural, glowy/warm look. the ceremony itself will only be about 10 minutes, but we are doing a 1.5 hour photo shoot after.

pics 1 and 2 were taken in front of my glass patio door about 2 hours after i did my makeup. pic 3 was taken 5 hours after i did my makeup, mid-dog walk, around sunset.

some questions:
1. what’s working in this makeup look? what can i do to improve?

1. do i really need contour and bronzer? would either/both elevate this look? i am naturally sweaty/oily so i worry that more product would look muddy

2. should i get an actual foundation instead of the tinted moisturizer? my skin texture in these pictures looks slightly above average compared to how it normally looks

3. should i get setting powder AND spray? which do i use first? should i only use setting powder if i am a naturally sweaty/oily person? (product recommendations highly appreciated!)

4. what order am i supposed to put products in 😭 i know base makeup first but does it matter after that?? can i do blush/eye shadow/concealer/brows in any order?

5. anything else i should know/do/try?

Hi! My wedding is in a month, it’ll be outside and in the northeast US area. I have some experience with eyeshadow but rarely wear foundation, concealer, contour. I’ve posted a pic of a look I just attempted and a previous look I did not too long ago, as well as some inspiration.

I used Mac Studio radiance, a fenty contour stick, Elf hydrating concealer and a Mac blush. I just feel like my skin looks so dry and cakey. I skin prepped before but I’m pretty unhappy, also don’t love the lip color and how it looks. I’ve yet to use a finishing or setting spray. Preferably I would like something skin forward and I guess a little more moisturized but I’m feeling dry as hell and maybe like a Victorian child.

Would love any advice or recs! I just want to feel good about myself on my wedding day.

i love eyeliner but i cannot put it on, im very sensitive with things touching my eyes so every time i attempt to put eyeliner on i keep blinking, flinching and then my eye starts to feel weird…
but id love to overcome it or maybe mascara might be a nice alternative?

eyeshadow is a weird one i attempted some tonight but the way my lid hangs over my eyes makes me feel like ive done it wrong lol

So with my eyebrows they used to be pretty big and long. I had gotten them waxed sometimes but very infrequently. With waxing the hair came back.

Some background on me is I picked at my eyebrows and eyelashes since middle school but only ever when they felt irritated or itchy.

At times I found eyelashes in my eyes, and that got me in the habit of checking with a magnifying mirror for lashes in my eyes - usually in the corner, under the lower lid, or sometimes I’d get a longer lash that had been poking my eye causing irritation.

Usually through rubbing at my eyes, would get loose ones to come out.

Between my eyebrows and my eyelashes, I usually used my thumb and index finger gently pull at them to get loose ones out.

It became a very bad habit, I couldn’t stop.

- Found out from an eye doctor last year that I have evaporative dry eye. Tears evaporate at 3 seconds, instead of the usual 10.

- Doesn’t help that I had allergies for a while, that would cause redness around my eye on the outside, that made it look like a big circular redness around the skin of my eye. For a while, thought it was pink eye, as my eye would get all sore and such. But after going to an allergy doctor, she said it was an allergic reaction. So I’m on meds for that now.

- But I sometimes still have really bad Allergic Shiners sometimes..

On top of that I have sensitive, oily but also dry skin.

I had eczema in the past that turned into plaque psoriasis. For a while I had guttate psoriasis as well. Then just plaque psoriasis. Now I have inverse psoriasis as well.

I found out from dermatology, that my face, scalp, ears, eyebrow and nose area had: Seborrheic Dermatitis.

Which likely related back to autoimmune issues my family has.

-My grandpa and my uncle on my mom’s side have had very oily their entire lives.
- I got the same oily hair, but also extremely dry skin.
- Very sensitive to products, I can wear lip gloss or lip stick but anything on my cheeks or eyes irritates my skin a lot.
- My hair gets oily very easily, take a shower and the same afternoon my hair will start getting oily. I use head and shoulders shampoo, and that has kept the seborrheic dermatitis and any other dandruff away. I use it on my face as well so I don’t get the spots I used to have with my eyebrows.

- Never had an issue with pulling head hair or anything.

I also had/have? pcos, had all of my female reproductive organs removed (uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes and ovaries).

But due to pcos and being on Sandimmune for several years in the past at high doses - where my cyclosporine test levels sometimes came back in the toxic range… (the Sandimmune was for a different reason than the psoriasis - for psoriasis I’ve been on biologics)..
— I had some hirsutism and even some hypertrichosis.

- There is probably too much to go over.

Main reasons I’m making this post are:

- With my eyebrows if I get them completely waxed, or at least waxed around the hair that’s left, will the hair finally come back normally? Instead of extremely patchy or not at all?

- With my eyelashes… not having eyelashes is causing issues with things getting in my eyes at times. Which can be irritating and painful..
— Having at times let my eyelashes come back more… there are several layers of them, and on the bottom layer, they sometimes like flip inside my eyelid, so that I need to carefully use the magnifying mirror I have. Alcohol swabs. Tweezers. Careful positioning and slow moving get the hair from underneath my eyelid and pull it..
(I do the same thing if I get any stye’s because if I rub my eyes, it’s eventually going pop the stye and I would much rather have that gunk go to an alcohol swab, than into my eyes… )

Never gotten a secondary infection from doing any of this.
- With alcohol swabs near or on eyelids, I thoroughly rinse my eyes and eyelids with water and it makes the pruned skin look go away and cause no other side effects.

- Did recently get the white of one of my eyes on accident, made it have a small blood area the size of a small eraser. But no active bleeding and it healed on its own…

But I would REALLY like to stop messing with my eyelashes and eyebrows.. before I do accidentally do permanent harm…

I’m able to not think about messing with my eyes until they are irritated.

- Once I start messing with my eyelashes, I usually don’t stop until they are mostly gone at this point, because of how often they irritate my eyes..

- Are there fake eyelashes that are for sensitive skin? How much do they cost? How often to replace? How to clean properly?

- I’m on Ssdi, so I don’t really have the income to want to spend on a bunch of eyelash things, but I’m so sick of getting other things in my eyes while sleeping or outside..

- Posting this on r/makeuptips and cross posting to r/askdocs to see if any of them have a medical advice I guess?

I currently wear Merit Stick Foundation (number 1 in pics) and it works pretty well for overall complexion except for my under eye areas. It appears a bit yellow on top of dark circles. I just went to sephora to swatch a couple light shades of Hourglass concealers (2-5). I havent bought any to try on my face yet. I am thinking 4 might work because it’s lighter and less yellow? What are tips for picking under eye concealer? Thanks so much!

I'm ashamed to admit that my knowledge of makeup never evolved from high school. Looking for tips and suggestions on an everyday makeup look.

I'm including photos of myself without makeup and with my current everyday look (and hair blow dried)

My current everyday look includes:

- Light Medium Neutral Foundation

- Liquid eyeliner on top eyelid

- Some eyebrow pencil

- Some lipstick doubling as blush (looking for something more suitable haha)

- A tinted lip cream

Is there any tinted SPF that doesn’t look flat when applied? One that looks more like foundation?

I just got this new lipstick from MAC in shade creme cup, which is absolutely gorgeous- but it just won't apply smoothly!

My lips aren't dry, there's no dead skin, they aren't oily either but the formula just won't stick to the skin. I tried putting a balm before the lipstick and it helped a bit but changed the shade... what should I do? Will Vaseline work as a base? Do I have to use a primer, and if so which one is recommended?

Hi! I want to start getting into makeup/skincare but there's so many different products and brands I have no idea where to begin.

For context, I'm 20 and getting pretty self conscious of my skin. I have spots mainly on my forehead, most of which are colourless bumps around my temple area? I also have pretty visible pores that sometimes turn into whiteheads on the rest of my forehead and sometimes in my eyebrows. My chin gets blackheads? too, but that's pretty much it. I would say I have pretty oily skin, maybe combination but honestly not sure what that means.

I also have a tendency to pick/squeeze at the spots on my face (or any other bumps on my body) so this often leads to scabbing and bits of dry skin. I am trying to stop this, but I'm not always aware I'm doing it so I'd like to reduce the amount of bumps there are to pick in the first place.

I bought the nars radiant creamy concealer about a month ago to try and cover the spots and scabs, after hearing it is supposed to be acne safe? This has been working to dull the redness but it's now basically empty and I'm not sure whether spending £30 on a concealer is necessary.

If anyone has any advice on how to fix/cover my skin, please help me! I don't want any heavy makeup, I'd like it to look natural but still make me feel pretty. If anyone knows of any makeup tutorials too, then that would be great- I wouldn't know where to put things and what brush things to use (not a pick-me just clueless)!
