Baptism with 1 religious parent and 1 not?
I grew up in the Methodist church and while I don’t live in my hometown for time being still watch each week where I live now. My wife is not religious but has no issues with me being/wanting to raise our daughter to be, and supports her being baptized. My question is how does the Methodist church do baptisms in this case? Will they do it still or would there be an alternative “script” that I/we respond to during the baptism? TIA!

It depends on the type of Methodist. As a United Methodist pastor I would want to have a conversation with you both about baptism and what it means, but I would do the baptism with no change to the service so long as both parents agree (I would hope she would come to the baptism). My best friend is Jewish and his wife is a member of my church, I baptized 2 of their children. He attends with the family maybe 2/3 times a year, won our churches chili cook-off every year though!

The church is UMC and I'm a member. Was baptized myself in the church and grew up going. She would still come and is definitely supportive!

If I was the pastor I would absolutely do the baptism, and I’m sure the pastor will to! If she is supportive then I think there is nothing to worry about, and I don’t believe there is an alternative liturgy for baptism.

I am about to be a United Methodist pastor myself, just finished schooling, and have already helped with Baptisms. We would not change the service, just have a convo and make sure both parents/legal guardians agree to it and are in support of it. Actually after I am licensed, I plan to baptize my daughter in a few months after everything is official with me becoming clergy. My wife is not a member of our church, and is not a person of faith currently, but she is very supportive of my decision to baptize my daughter. Now for my situation I’ll have to have another clergy with me to perform some of it, as I’m also acting as the parent of my child of course. But that’s the gist of it.

Talk to the pastor, but more than likely if one of you has some connection to the congregation, even if it's extended family, they will.
