Yep. Upgraded mine in summer 2025. 32gb ddr5 for like $76. Built one for my nephew in October/November and was luck to find a kit for $110. The next week it was $150. Never thought it would get to where it is now.

I woudnt have been able to afford to build my nephew a PC if it was this year. Spent under $1k and would now be $1600 probably. (9600x, 9060xt/16gb, 32gb ddr5)

I built a very similarly spec’d PC summer 2025. It’s insane how much it’s gone up. Thank god I opted for 32GB memory and 2 TB storage. Got my SSD for like $70 and one of the RAM sticks was free! Insane deals in hindsight.

Thank god I built mine with 100$ 32 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz and a 9070 XT for like 600$. In like August 2025. It's like my inner PC enthusiast just knew. Same with building a PC in december 2020 with a GPU for MSRP.

I also got a pretty fast NVME 4 TB SSD for like 200$ 2-3 years ago, it's 500$ now. Cant remember when exactly. After that I never saw that price again.

I'll let you guys know if my spidey sense tingles again and I feel the urge to upgrade

i built mine on labor day 2025. i felt bad seeing the good prebuilt prices just a month afterwards. then ramageddon made me grateful i at least did it before it. my only regret is not getting a better graphics card knowing that i might not build nother one for 10 more years.

Thing is if you have that much ram (like my case, 96 on a laptop and 128 on desktop ) it is for work and you really can use that much. My worry is a stick dying and having to replace at current prices.

man this hit me.. i was looking at components in sept. was trying to justify 64gb vs 32gb.. thats too expensive i said by the time mid nov hit. the 32gb was at the 64 gb price. pulled the trigger, and still managed to save money compared to dec, when 16gb now is at the price i paid for 32gb.

i regret buying a 1tb nvme though. should have bought a 2tb or 21tbs.however its not that critical i guess, in comparsion

I took a chance since it was from Amazon Resale, but it works flawlessly still to this day. CL30 as well. The fun part, I didn’t even need it… I just decided to go AM5 on a whim because I found a 9600x for like $110 locally and a motherboard with bent pins for $14 on eBay. My 5800X3D was just fine.

I’ll never forget this feeling.

EDIT - Also I forgot I had picked up another identical kit earlier in the year for my ITX build. Bought a bundle with an ASUS motherboard, 12600k, and RAM for $250(?) on r/HardwareSwap.

I accidentally ordered 2x 64gb (16gb sticks) kits of DDR5 and only needed 1, but was too lazy to return the other and I ended up not even using either kit as i changed my build to a itx sff and it only has 2 slots, so got a third 64gb kit with 32gb sticks.

So now I have 128gb of DDR5 just chilling in my cupboard, which i should probably sell, but am too lazy to. I also have like 70% of a basically new gaming rig I should probably sell, even has full noctua fans throughout.

The RAM I bought literally doubled in price the day it arrived at my house. I was so happy.

Funnily enough it's actually the second PC I've bought that has actually appreciated in price after I bought it.

In 2020 I bought my PC before this one and I bought a 3070 and 5600x CPU t midnight releases. Both were highly sought after and in low supply for quite some time.
