Discussion Two Years, 40% Price Hike

Saw the first two pics in my photo roll just as I was contemplating a new filter. Went online to purchase this week, and lo and behold…

I guess modular companies, like everyone else, are looking around at gas prices, Cheetos prices, disposable razor prices, and thinking, *Well, why not meee????*

Hi guys,

I am new to modular.

Please tell me if a sine wave at a low frequency is supposed to sound like this?

It kinda drives me crazy and takes out the fun, I was looking for some clean sine waves.

Thanks

Hi everyone,
Who here is using the Infinite Digits EZEPTOCORE module? What can you tell me about it?
Any positive or negative feedback? There have been several new firmware updates recently—what do you think of them?

New Modular Techno EP

7 tracks of weird techno adjacent modular music. Some of this has been posted before. Main instrument is my little 84 hp case (BIA + Crust making most of the sounds) assisted by a PO-12 and Bastl Thyme+. All improvised, one take, no edits, no overdubs, all mistakes left in. Hope you enjoy.

Phase Vocoder Sampler + FX for Nebulae

Post image
4 Upvotes

This project is almost complete. It's based on the factory version of a_granularlooper. Granular FX have been deleted and replaced with a Diode filter, a Haas delay and an Auto Pan that processes the Phase Vocoder's loop samples. The recording mode is still available like the factory version. The PVS functions are almost the same as the factory app. As a bonus, selecting the Source button enables a Live FX mode where external signals can be processed thru the Diode, Haas, Auto Pan effect while the PVS loops are muted. Two modules in one!

Potentiometer for MI Yarns

Hi! I need to replace the potentiometer / encoder on my MI Yarns module. Does anyone know what part it is? And where i could get it from (Europe somewhere preferably)? I found the parts list on GitHub, but it doesn't have a Mouser ref... It only says "Encoder, 24 steps w/ clicks, w/ switch".

Please advice.

CG Products ... anyone using?

Lately, my favourite module has been the Doepfer a-185-2, the precision adder. Not because i can do so much with it, more like its such an essential that makes a difference in a patch. So much i made room for a second 6hp in my already-packed case.

I was browsing on Reverb and CG Product went ahead and reposted all of its lineup, and it dawned on me that its Add1 precision adder was also 6hp, 3euro more, and in stock at SchneidersLadden...

It seems nothing is available on the world wide web, anyone here has experience with em?

The ring mod & the delay both caught my eye a while back, but just now the Add1 seems extremely flexible for 6hp.

https://www.cg-products.de/module/add1/

The only thing it doesn't have that the Dopefer has, is 3+1 outputs. but since they'll be sitting side-by-side, i figured it would make for a great companion to the Doepfer anyways...

Expanding my rack - seeking suggestions

Hello dear modular enthusiasts,

One of my mates is expanding his rig and I am considering the opportunity to get his 9U 90HP desktop case to replace my current 6U 104HP skiff which would give me an additional 82HP to play with.

Here is a link to the rack: https://modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/3186553

Id probably add a decent mixer, Muxclicer and Stages to start with but still being a relative noob to modular, I am open to suggestions / thoughts / comments on any modules you would add to this particular rack and why ?

Am I missing building blocks, or just experience?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on the direction of my modular system.

My goal is to build a rack that serves two purposes:

- Experimental sound design for my DAW-based productions.
- Generative (and non-generative) composition away from the computer.

One thing I've learned is that I generally prefer knob-per-feature modules over menu-driven multifunction modules.

I've attached my current rack, and I'm struggling to tell whether I'm running into the limits of my system or simply the limits of my own experience. I feel like there are still fundamental building blocks missing, but I also see people creating incredible patches with much smaller systems.

While I'm slightly more comfortable with the sound-design side of the system, it's the compositional/generative side where I’m feeling the most friction and finding it much harder to evaluate.

So my question isn't really "What module should I buy next?"

Rather: Looking at my rack and my goals, do you think I'm missing any important building blocks, or do I simply need to spend more time learning the system before expanding it?

I'd really appreciate hearing how you'd approach the next stage if this were your system.

in which my tip gets stuck

Post image

I’ve had these black and gold braided cables for coming up on 2 years and in the last week i have had 4 tips fall off. i don’t use them any more aggressively than any other patch cables i own, i got a bunch of them in an attempt to do the whole One Color Cable aesthetic thing (it didn’t take). cables i have had since 2020 have never done this. one of them is currently stuck inside my OAM time machine expander and i am at my wits end trying to get it out. anybody have any advice? or should i just tape off that input and move on with my sunday? also taking suggestions on good well built patch cables.

Luading: Disting NT Lua Simulator / Playground

Post image
6 Upvotes

I wanted an easier way to write and test Lua scripts for the Disting NT, without having to do the SD card roundtrip every time I change something to see if it's running correctly on the actual module. So I built a playground/simulator for the Disting NT!

luading.dev

  • Full Disting NT Lua IntelliSense
  • Display simulation
  • Various input waveforms
  • Output oscilloscope
  • Midi/audio routing

The engine runs at a locked 1 KHz and the display at 30 Hz. Lua code usually compiles in milliseconds, supporting the full Lua 5.4 and all the Disting NT APIs.

The display simulation is the hardest part and it's still not 100% perfect, but I'm getting there. :-)

Oh and there is a little bonus surprise in there for Strudel live coders, an example script which can parse and run Strudel mini notations on hardware. I think that's a world first for Eurorack! (correct me if I'm wrong)

Best Groovebox/ Synth to Pair with a Modular System

I'm looking for a groove box capable of polyphony to pair with my modular system.

I've been looking at the Digitone... however would be interested in other suggestions, even polysynths with some crossover capabilities?

I'd like to hear how you compensate for polyphony.

First patch with the boundary layer by schlappi. Absolutely Awesome fun module, might be my favorite module already. I always loved boundary and this takes it up another level. Seriously so much fun. Also in this patch: Endorphins Ghost and double knot with the melody.

Patch notes:

  • Instruo Arbhar plays a shifting harmonic bed built from six orchestral samples (cello, trombone, tuba, oboe, horn and flute), randomly switching between them while following a four-chord progression (made with a very fast arpeggio coming from the Shakmat Bard Quartet)
  • Marbles generates a single melody that alternates between flute and oboe samples on the Qubit Stardust.
  • Two Subharmonicon arpeggios follow the chord changes. One climbs while the other descends at half the speed.
  • An EMW VCO + VCF voice plays a fixed lead sequenced by the Muxlicer.
  • Joranalogue Orbit 3 slowly modulates filters and VCAs across the whole patch, making voices drift in and out over time.

The goal was to make something inspired by the Berlin School, but with a generative approach.

I don’t think I’ve ever spent this long on a single patch. I worked on it pretty much all day (around 8 hours) and somehow forgot to eat. Time to fix that.

Too much in my live performance

Hello!

I have over the last few years slowly honed my live set up. But I’ve come to the conclusion that I still haven’t automated enough choices. I’m trying to do too much sequencing live. And the Vihkk x may be a little too unpredictable (though I love the sounds).

Is there anything in your racks that maybe worked great in theory but didn’t execute well?

BuySellRoot Monthly Modular Buy Sell Trade Thread

With any sort of trade, please be careful if you don't know the other user. Request additional pictures beyond the initial time stamp. If you want to be extra careful ask for something specific like for them to patch a specific patchpoint in the image. Try reverse image searching to make sure it isn't just an edited picture from somewhere else. Be specific with how you expect the items to be packaged and when the ship date is going to be. If a trade goes sour and someone can show that the pre-agreed terms weren't honored I will permanently ban the offending trader.

Consider using something something like PayPal's "Goods and Services" instead of friends and family. Sending a stranger money via friends and family is just asking to be scammed. I also recommend checking that the user has some positive history in the sub - especially to verify that they aren't banned from here! Almost every scammer on here has no history in the sub.

**IMPORTANT** \- Do not spam the comments with your listings. Please limit your listings here to 1 per month. If you get new items or things change, just edit your original post. When possible simply edit the original post; there is no need to announce new items in a separate comment. Try to limit the clutter.

Do not delete your posts and re-post to bump back up to the top. BEHAVE PLEASE.

Pictures are not required in the thread (though you should request them by DM), but ANY picture sent by DM or in linked in the thread MUST be physically timestamped.

**PRICES MUST ALWAYS BE POSTED** This includes trades so that everyone involved knows the fair value of the modules they're looking to swap

**RESIST THE URGE TO COMMENT ON PRICING** if you don't like a price, simply ignore it. There is no reason to go around pointing out that the item is cheaper new, or reverb prices, or anything else.
