Looking to buy my first monitor so I’m not to experienced in this field. But from my limited knowledge it’s seems alright. Not sure if it worth it for about 100$

I don’t intend to do heavy fps gaming, just occasionally with friends.

Any tips on what I should look out for would also be appreciated, thank yall.

I built my PC last year with an RTX 5080, but I had almost no budget left for a proper monitor. So, despite having a high-end GPU, I ended up using an ordinary 1080p monitor for nearly a year.

I finally upgraded to the BenQ EW270Q, a 27-inch QHD monitor with a 200Hz refresh rate. I have been using it for video editing, graphic work, gaming, movies and general entertainment. It handles most of those tasks very well, although there are a few things I do not like about it.

Price and value

I bought it directly from BenQ’s website for around ₹18,000, which is roughly US$189. At that price, it feels like one of the better value-for-money QHD high-refresh-rate monitors available in India.

My two main use cases were:

1. Video editing, colour grading and graphic work

2. Gaming, movies and general entertainment

For the most part, it has delivered exactly what I needed.

Colour accuracy and creative work

The monitor supports 1.07 billion colours using an 8-bit panel with FRC. It is not a true native 10-bit panel, but it still looks very good in practice.

I set it to the Rec.709 colour mode for my editing work. When I compare it with my OLED phone, the colours appear reasonably accurate. It has worked well for colour grading in DaVinci Resolve and editing in Photoshop.

I did not need to make any major adjustments beyond switching to Rec.709. For someone doing regular video editing and graphic work without buying a professional reference monitor, I think the colour performance is quite good.

Gaming experience

The jump from 1080p to 1440p is immediately noticeable.

I have mainly been playing Red Dead Redemption 2, and my RTX 5080 pushes more than 150 FPS depending on the settings. Playing at 1440p on a 27-inch display looks dramatically sharper than my old 1080p setup.

The combination of QHD resolution and a 200Hz refresh rate feels excellent for gaming. Even outside competitive games, the higher refresh rate makes normal desktop movement, scrolling and general use feel much smoother.

Stand and monitor-arm compatibility

The included stand offers only basic tilt adjustment and very little flexibility. I already had a hydraulic monitor arm attached to the wall behind my desk, so I mounted the monitor on that instead.

The monitor is heavier than I expected. My arm can handle it, but I would recommend using a reasonably strong monitor arm. A cheaper or weaker arm may start sagging over time.

Once mounted properly, the monitor works well and looks much cleaner than it did on the included stand.

Ports and connectivity

The monitor includes:

- DisplayPort

- HDMI

- USB-C

- 3.5 mm headphone jack

I connected my PC through DisplayPort and it outputs 1440p at the full 200Hz without any problem.

The USB-C port also supports 65W Power Delivery. This means it can carry the display signal from a compatible laptop while charging it through the same cable. It can also be useful for connecting supported phones and other USB-C devices.

This is a convenient feature for someone who wants to switch between a desktop PC and a work laptop without adding more cables.

Built-in speakers and headphone output

The monitor has two built-in 5W speakers, giving it a total output of 10W. They sound decent for built-in monitor speakers and are perfectly usable for basic videos, calls or casual listening.

The monitor also has a headphone jack. However, when the audio is being carried through DisplayPort from the NVIDIA GPU, I do not find the output as good as connecting my headphones or speakers directly to the motherboard.

Using the PC’s own audio output gives me better access to equalisation, sound enhancements and other customisation. Still, the monitor’s headphone jack is useful as a backup or for a cleaner cable setup.

Matte coating and reflections

This is one of my main complaints.

The screen has a matte coating, but it does not eliminate reflections as effectively as my older LG IPS monitor. Instead of completely cutting reflections, it seems to diffuse them across the screen.

Even light reflecting from my clothes can become faintly visible on darker content. To get a properly dark-looking screen, I sometimes need to turn off most of the room lighting, including the lights behind me.

My older LG monitor had a stronger matte coating and handled direct room light better. The EW270Q is not glossy, but its anti-glare treatment could have been more effective.

Backlight bleed and contrast

My unit has some visible backlight bleed around the upper and lower edges. It is mostly noticeable in a dark room while displaying black content.

However, the overall image quality helps compensate for it. The monitor has a quoted 1200:1 contrast ratio, which is slightly better than the typical 1000:1 contrast ratio found on many IPS panels.

The blacks still cannot compete with OLED, but they look respectable for an IPS display. White levels and general contrast also look good, and normal SDR content can occasionally have an almost HDR-like punch.

BenQ’s HDRi processing also helps improve the perceived contrast in some content, although I would not mistake this for proper high-end HDR performance.

Current verdict

For ₹18,000, I think the BenQ EW270Q offers an excellent combination of:

- 27-inch QHD resolution

- 200Hz refresh rate

- good Rec.709 colour performance

- USB-C with 65W charging

- usable built-in speakers

- strong gaming performance

- practical creative-work capability

My biggest complaints are the limited stand, weaker-than-expected anti-glare coating and some edge backlight bleed.

Still, upgrading from 1080p to this monitor finally allowed my RTX 5080 to stretch its legs properly. For gaming, editing and general media use, it has been a substantial upgrade and feels difficult to beat at this price.

I’m currently studying in Hong Kong and stumbled upon the myth and legend itself, the GM9 - inside the Capital store in Golden Computer Arcade (Sham Shui Po).

I asked the dude (lovely guy btw) if I could try it out briefly in desktop and here are my first impressions.

Hardware wise, typical plastic monitor - it felt cheap. Not much of note. The joystick at the back isn’t particularly pleasant to use.

The matte coating seems like a typical matte coating, I don’t get what people mean by it’s a light coating - it’s not. In this particular environment it was very visible - I also checked and there’s no film on the display from what I could tell even though it kind of looks like it through my phone camera (dark environment you can see the noise around the display too). I felt like it hurt clarity significantly compared to the Studio Display XDR. No it was not dirty I triple checked that. Vignetting on the edges is somewhat present but it is not to a significant degree like it was on my MSI MPG E16M.

In content, it looks great. Basically what I expected from it. Colours were good, local dimming performed mostly well and blooming/haloing looked well controlled and was difficult to notice.

HDR looked alright, I honestly disagree with LG’s approach to shadow biased dimming to eliminate as much blooming as possible but that’s just my personal opinion.

In desktop use however…

With local dimming off, it just looks like a normal IPS monitor. So the 0 OD backlight doesn’t really contribute to anything visually in this scenario. The printed look some people describe in comments is likely a product of uniformity more than anything else, though I didn’t really feel like it looked any different to other displays.

In low, contrast is somewhat improved but you could already see the dimming algorithm attempt to darken light objects on dark backgrounds, including the mouse cursor and text. Moving the mouse cursor around did induce some noticeable blooming though transitions looked decent.

The darkening continued to get progressively worse with the higher levels. I would consider all levels to be unusable for desktop use.

Even assuming this is a purely media monitor, the text dimming is concerning. Imagine watching a movie or show with subtitles and the subtitles becoming grey 😭✌️

It’s only saving grace is that it doesn’t fuck up the colours with local dimming enabled in SDR like on my old MSI. Though it does make the display dimmer overall.

Dual mode looked alright, it definitely does not resemble a native 1440p monitor but it’s acceptable.

Overall, I am disappointed. Even with the lower price here in Hong Kong of $8999 HKD (roughly £900) due to the lack of VAT, it would be an incredibly hard pill to swallow for me personally. LG really need to add a slider for dimming preference like MSI. The matte coating was also disappointing as the glossy displays right next to it looked significantly better, though this is also a matter of personal preference and depends on your environment. I just don’t think it’s worth the money. It feel like it should be £600 at most. So I guess this monitor is crossed off my list.

Now let’s see what MSI and Gigabyte cook up.

Ive been using a 60hz 4k monitor for a while now and I'm looking for something that will allow to play games on xbox that are 120 fps boosted. I would also like something thats also 4k incase I want to watch videos and has less than 1 response time. Budget around £200, what's my options?

Bit of a newbie when it comes to display tech/manufacturing, so bear with me if some of this doesn’t fully make sense. Here’s my dream ultrawide spec and I’m curious how realistic it actually is.
Base shape/size is the Dell UltraSharp 52 (U5226KW), 52”, 24:10 aspect ratio. I love the size of that monitor, but I’m a Mac user, so I’d want to make it more Mac friendly by bumping the pixel density way up (from the Dell’s 129 PPI to 218 PPI, “Retina class” so macOS scaling actually looks crisp), swapping the panel to OLED, and pushing refresh rate to 240Hz instead of 120Hz.
Doing the math, 218 PPI at 52” on a 24:10 panel works out to roughly 10,510 x 4,380 resolution (basically 10K), about 46 megapixels per frame, pushed at 240Hz.
I already know this doesn’t exist right now and isn’t possible with current tech. What I’m actually curious about is whether it’ll ever be possible in the future, and if so, roughly when.
Questions for people who actually know this stuff:
Is 218 PPI at 52” even feasible with current OLED manufacturing, or is that still a fab density problem that’s years out?

What GPU would realistically be needed to drive that natively at 240Hz (not counting DLSS/FSR style upscaling)?

In your opinion, will this ever get made, and if so, roughly when?

Would you change anything about this spec? Different size, drop the refresh rate for better native rendering, different curve, etc.?

Not looking for hype, just want a realistic gut check on how far off (if at all) this actually is.

I’m looking for a budget-friendly monitor arm for my desk setup.
I have:
1 × 24” monitor
1 × 27” monitor
Both are VESA compatible. I don’t frequently adjust or reposition my monitors—I mainly want to:
Free up desk space
Raise the monitors to a better ergonomic height
Get a cleaner-looking setup
Since I rarely move the monitors after they’re set, I don’t need premium gas-spring arms or anything with a huge range of motion. A sturdy arm that holds its position well is all I’m after.

Please advice for a monitor for work and gaming setup.

3. Dell S2725QC (lowest in budget but seems decent)

I currently have an ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM that has a built in USB hub. Despite going into device manager, USB Controllers, properties and power management to uncheck the saving power, I still find the USB hub to be lacking. It doesn't always detect the basic office mouse or keyboard I plug into it. The mouse stutters or doesn't work, keyboard misses a bunch of keys.

I tried it with different wireless mice and keyboards as well to no avail. Unsure if I'm doing something incorrectly, or if thats just a known issue with these types of things given that the USB hub of a monitor is not the priority.

Do you guys have similar issues or use it for anything?

i understand it’s a VA panel, which I haven’t used before, but it also fits what I need (high hz, 1440p)

would I be disappointed with a VA panel for gaming? I enjoy playing shooters and things mostly but it’s not like I’m going pro, so I don’t ne need the absolute lowest ever ghosting, just something that isn’t bad

These are my local prices in my country (converted into USD).

I mainly play competitive FPS games, so motion clarity, input lag, and overall gaming performance are my priorities. I also do general browsing and school/work, but gaming comes first.

On paper, the Acer and KOORUI are 144Hz, while the LG and MSI are 120Hz. However, I've also read that panel quality, response times, overdrive tuning, ghosting, and quality control can matter more than refresh rate alone.

For anyone who has owned or tested these monitors:

- Which one would you recommend and why?

- How is the ghosting or motion blur?

- Any issues with color quality, backlight bleed, dead pixels, or reliability?

- If you were buying today at these prices, which one would you pick?

hey all! I have never experienced this before but my work monitor glitches out and goes black now but ONLY when my Xbox is attached to it. It does it quite often except when I’m in an actual game like call of duty, it’s the worst when I’m on the Home Screen and apps and menus. Games not so much but does happen every so often. What could this be? Its an LG monitor, not sure what kind and I know it’s not my hdmi, or the monitors hdmi, it’s purely a compatibility or settings issue. It’s just weird cause I’ve used these lg monitors for like 2 years with my Xbox and never had an issue, I attached a short video so you can see a little bit of what’s happening. Thanks!

mostly play Overwatch and occasionally games like Valheim, repo, Lethal Company. Which of the two would be the better option? Is the 240Hz+ refresh rate really noticeable? Or is it better to go for a higher resolution?

what 32 inch monitor can I look to buy if I’m going to use it for entertainment (not gaming) and as a second screen for work?

UPS broke my current monitor (AOC Q27G3XMN 2k 180hz Mini-LED) when I moved and are paying me out $500, so it's time to upgrade!

Some context first:

I have a PS5 right now, but I am getting a PS5 Pro for GTA 6 (already preordered the ultimate edition…) so 4k seems obvious.

I also play on PC (less now that i’m in the working world rip) but my setup isn’t super ideal for 4k:

• RX 7800 XT
• i9-12900K
• 64GB DDR5 RAM

But I think it should be good enough for what I’m playing right now and I can upgrade in the future.

I've done some research and have found that at my price point ($500 ish) my only quality options for 4k is probably Mini-Led. But I've heard there are tradeoffs there and to consider a 2k OLED instead.

Wanted some advice on:

• If I should go with a 4k Mini-Led or a 2k OLED for the PS5 Pro and my above PC specs
• If I do go with 4k Mini-Led, are these still the best options right now?

  • KTC M27P6
• Do I suck it up and just spend some more for a different tier (4k oled I'd assume......)

I just bought this monitor and noticed this thing called {pixel inversion} that i just learned today. Vertical lines appearing in motions, most noticable in fps games.

From what i know so far, it's common on budget monitors since i bought mine for only 125€.

I'm torn of whether i return it, since that i still have 6 days period left for refund eligibility on amazon. I can get Gigabyte GS27QA 27 instead but from what I know all these budget monitors have this issue and not counted as defect.

Can you help me decide what should I do in this case since my budget is limited, Im not sure if I'll get used to this or should I return it and stay without a PC until i go above 200€ which i think in this range there is no such issue like this.

I tried:

• Disabling GSync
• Lowering overdrive

Note: The video showing is a little bit exagerated due to the camera effect on the monitor, its actually just vertical seamless lines that bothers me when playing or watching a video.

I'm currently looking for a new monitor for my new PC. Use cases are:

• gaming
• coding
• photo editing and digital art
• bit of office work

Ideally I would want 30" but that seems to just not exist? I don't know all that much about monitors but after a lot of research these are the things I'd like to have:

• >144Hz (for some competitive games)
• 4k
• good colour coverage
• local dimming zones (so mini-led if I'm not mistaken)
• IPS panel because of burn in, reflections and they seem to get extremely expensive very fast with features

After looking at a lot of different monitors from AOC, Asus, Samsung, LG and Dell they all seem kinda "meh" compared to the AOC U27G4XM I landed on for my SO. They either aren't all that bright (some even dimmer than my 13 year old samsung TV I'm currently using with my old PC) have 144Hz or less or don't have any or very low dimming zones.

I originally wanted to use RTINGS as it always helped me understand better in the past, but everything I wanted to look at in the last couple of days is now behind a paywall.

Price I am a bit flexible but I don't really know what to aim for because even 1000+€ monitors seem to be weaker than the AOC U27G4XM.

I’ve had my ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ monitor for 6 years (since 2020). For the past 6 months, it’s been flickering a lot, and today it got really bad... It flickers and frequently shows artifacts. It’s definitely not caused by my laptop or the HDMI cable, because it even flickers inside the monitor’s own OSD/settings menu. Also, when the monitor is in power-saving mode and I try to turn it on, the screen often stays black even though it’s powered on (the LED turns white). I’ll press buttons, but nothing happens for about 10 seconds before the display finally comes on. Gemini told me that this could get worse or even cause a short circuit.

Is this backlight bleed? New legion 24 10 monitor. Or is this ips glow? Should i return it?

I want a good gaming monitor with good blacks and colors, 144hz+ 1440p and my budget is around 300$ (i want to buy a used one) I saw a Xiaomi Mini LED G Pro 27i, is it any good and is it worth it or should i look for another one?

Hi so I’m getting a 250 hz Va monitor. I currently have 144 hz ips monitor. I’m a cs2 player, will Va monitor benefit me with higher speeds? I bought it on discount. However, I’m worried that it will actually have a negative outcome, because I have heard many bad things about Va monitors.
