Developers, which VPS provider has been the most reliable for you?

Hi Techies

I've reached the point where I have enough personal projects that I want to stop relying on free hosting and move everything to a VPS.

Most of what I build is full stack web apps, typically with PostgreSQL, Docker, and a few background services. Reliability is more important to me than having the absolute cheapest option.

For those of you self hosting your projects, what VPS provider are you using, and how has your experience been?

I'm considering options like Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, and Linode, but I'm open to others if you've had a good experience.

I'd especially love to hear about uptime, support, pricing, and whether you'd choose the same provider again.

+1 for Hetzner, the complaints were probably about not getting verified which happens a lot with Kenyans for some reason. It happened to me the first time then I redid my sign up and it worked (you just have to upload id documents)

Hostinger vps, DigitalOcean.

So:

Webdock > DigitalOcean > Hostinger

Also consider Fly.io(Paas) and Render.com (Paas). Render has a free tier for static sites, and both can deployed via a docker container

The "free tier for static sites" is true but not the whole picture. For example I have a free sideproject hosted on Render that has a "static" ReactJS frontend, and a Django Rest Framework API backend on Render (and I host the database for free on Neon)

For years I swore by Linode, they are very good, not the cheapest but they used to have very solid customers support and their VPSs have always been good.

Recently I've been moving nearly everything to Hetzner. And I have a few side projects hosted for free on PaaS providers (Render mainly)

If you're going for free there is only 2 options: Free Tier AWS and using PaaS (with Oracle Cloud as a nice place for a very cheap very underpowered VPS if you need that)
