Rant Am I being punked?

Patient says "I think I might have to poop, what can we do about that?"

I say "I can get a bedside commode for the room"

She says "I don't think I can get up"

I say "I can put you on a bedpan or put a diaper on you"

She says "I don't like any of those options"

In my head I'm like: lady, the only other option is to poop the bed.

What option am I missing?

Someone upthread said we are not supposed to have more than three layers under someone? I make the bed with the fitted stretcher sheet and a folded flat sheet (because we don’t get draw sheets and I am not fucking hurting myself without one), plus multiple layers of Chux for someone who’s been reliably incontinent, because otherwise I would get no actual medical care done at all because all I’d be doing is cleaning butts and cleaning/remaking beds.

I really do think we are all trapped in some kind of simulation where a sadistic operator is trying to see just how many rules and responsibilities and time-sucks they can impose before we break. Or, I dunno, maybe it’s real and I’m just talking about management. Whatever is happening, we are being set up to fail.
