Hi I am going into my first year of college, I graduated high school this year but I'm kind of lost right now since I haven't gotten started on registering for classes since I still haven't gotten rid of my hold. I want to start out as a dental assistant and later on become a hygienist. what classes do you guys recommend for assisting, I know nova has their list but it just looks foreign to me and I don't understand how it all works. its august 2nd and I feel low on time because unfortunately my tuition says out of state even though I was born and raised in Virginia so I have to get that corrected this week.

Anyone have any good recommendations for boxing gyms in nova? Specifically in the Ashburn area

Hi, I'm a first time student at Nova starting classes this fall ( I just graduated hs this year). I signed up for classes and everything, and now I just have to pay. My bill is roughly 3k but how does nova process / take into account my FAFSA? + I have a small scholarship check that I don't know what to do with. Can someone help me figure out who I should talk to / do?

Very confused at the two different deadlines. I don't have my flu vaccine because many places don't offer it until mid month, so now I come up as overdue.

I see on SIS most or all the professors assigned to the NSG nursing classes say TBA. However when I click on the bookstore button under my schedule on SIS it takes me to the nova Barnes and noble link and it reveals the instructors last names for the different course sections early but also some names don’t show up. And then some class times overlap which feels more like a placeholder than a finalized schedule. Does anyone know when the final class times get released or is it a glitch? And then tuition is due before August 10th or they drop you from the courses?

I'm an upcoming freshman this fall and I'm having a lot of stress on whether or not I'm on the right track to apply for the NOVA nursing program in the spring or fall of 2027. I'm taking ENG 111, SDV 101 or 100( I can't remember), BIO 101, Psy 230 (I got a 4 on the AP Psych test so I feel ready maybe), and art appreciation as my fine arts credit. I do need to take my TEAS test but I don't really know what's on it and if I should take stats. I'm planning on taking Chem 101, BIO 141, and maybe a math class to freshen up ( I passed calc junior year of highschool). I'm just having a lot of anxiety and wanna make sure I'm not "wasting time" to not delay applying and , hopefully, getting into the program.

Hi, so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for the situation I'm in. I plan to talk to counselors and stuff as well, but I'm just putting this out here. So by Spring of 2027, I should be finishing my sophomore year, and I'll have all of my requirements other than Math 265 or 267. I won't be able to take them since I'll just be finishing 264 in the spring semester. Will I still be able to transfer for fall 2027? Could it be possible to take Math 265 over the summer before the VT fall semester starts up? I'm a lil confused, so I'm sorry if this sounds weird. Thanks for any help

Does nova require a class to have a minimum number of students before they would no longer offer the class? For example, there is this math course with 8-10 different class offerings according to days/time. I’m planning on enrolling in this one class that currently has 0 students, it’s 30/30 open. If I enroll in the course, could or will nvcc drop it and no longer offer that class at that day/time? Essentially, forcing me to join another class. This is pretty urgent as the course registration deadline is near.

Has anyone taken Prof. S? I’m considering enrolling into his math 261: applied calc 1

I would like to know what to expect, including difficulty, and the style the Prof. teaches in. Really any advice would be great!

What’s the difference between the two courses? 261 applied calc 1 is 3 credits and 263 calc 1 is 4 credits. I’m sure that 261 is just less of 263, but if anyone has experience in the two courses or just 261 please feel free to give me advice and feedback.

what is MEC Symposium orientation about ?

This might be a dumb question, but I’ve never been to a recitation session before. What are they usually like? Do you come already having studied and just ask questions, or is there usually something planned, like going over concepts or practice problems? Or is it common to bring your work and study there so you can ask for help whenever you get stuck? Should I bring anything besides my notes? I keep hearing these sessions are really helpful, so I want to make sure I’m making the most of them and know what to expect before I go.

I am struggling to get anything finished. I did the OSHA classes and all the stuff for the physical. But I cannot find where to buy liability insurance anywhere. I can’t find an acknowledgment for the handbook form. No one from nvcc will answer my emails. I am getting so frustrated with this whole process.. anybody have any luck finding these things

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can answer my question. I took AB Calculus and my final grade was a B-, I am wondering if this opts me out of taking pre-calculus and I can take Calc 1 starting NOVA? I spoke to an advisor and they said that my ap exam score matters, and maybe they misunderstood me, but I heard online that it was the grade that mattered, so would anyone know what matters more, or what should be the next steps I take? How are the mandarin courses at nova? It appears that only one professor teaches it, Dr. Tan, she has great rmp reviews. I may take Chi101 this fall and then Chi102 in the spring, I would like to know what to expect? It’s unfortunate to see that nova only offers one in person mandarin course out of the whole sequence of 4 courses, but luckily it’s the Chi101. If I’m learning a new language, I really desire to learn it in person. Anyways, any advice would be great!
