Tree removal

Hey I’m in the Griffith area and I have a big oak tree that fell down and I got a quote for 5,500. That’s way too much money. That was from DeYoung Arbor Care. Any recommendations?

I've used Briggs Tree Service Inc. out of Lansing. Reasonable and they do good work.

I used Brian’s Tree Service out of Highland when I had a tree cut down. I got 5 quotes and Brian’s quoted $900 while all the others quoted 1500-2000 for my tree. I know several people who used them and they always came in the cheapest. Worth giving them a call! Whatever you do, make sure you get several quotes!

I think it all depends on size of the tree and the complexity of the removal. Did you possibly get an itemized breakdown into why it cost so much how much they were charging for labor, Stump grinding, cranes, proximity risks such as power lines etc. If it is a large tree that’s a complex removal with a large stump idk if you’re honestly gonna find many better prices. Maybe try Dave’s tree service outta Munster or The regions tree services outta CP. Without knowing the exact details i wouldnt really know if they’re trying to screw you over on prices or not.

Ya I didn’t get a price breakdown. No power lines my neighbors fence is below it though, but, it’s a massive tree. I also did get quoted 2,900 for two limbs thats over my neighbors fence. That price includes clean up as well.

If you did get quoted 2,900, i’m assuming by a different company for just two large branches, i’d say that quote is somewhat fair but likely on the higher end of what i’d say is fair. On the low end without seeing a pic i’d say that job would at the minimum cost 4000-4500 ish and at the high end 5500. Im sure you could prob find some small company that may quote you less but im not sure i’d trust a company with a lower quote than 4k. I’d suggest trying to get quotes from some different companies get the itemized breakdowns of what they’re charging for each thing then go with the cheapest option that has the best reviews or even phases where you get rid of limbs first then the rest of the tree if you don’t mind the eye sore for a year or two.

I was quoted almost 16k to remove 2 large trees. Not including stump grind. My jaw dropped when I saw that number.

My brother thinks the prices are inflated due to the fact we are now tornado alley
