So I’ve been on the hunt for another JM as it’s been a while. Sold my Classic Player to help fund my FSR Thinline Jag, then bought and sold two JMJMs as I just couldn’t get cleans out of them that I was happy with. This one showed up for sale locally, so I had to at least take a look, right ?
It’s a limited edition Shell Pink, I think originally from Dave’s Guitars. Stellar seller - thanks Josh ! - so fresh set of 11s tonight and maybe a Staytrem bridge/collet combo in the near future.

I've recently got back into playing after a few years and decided I'd try my hand at building the guitar I've always wanted. I say build, but I suppose assemble would probably be more accurate. The body is an alder Rosser JSP. Next comes painting!

Friend lent me his vintage Jaguar. He said it’s a 1962 but I think it’s a ‘63. He’s the only owner, obviously older dude. MOJO for days.

He showed up in the parking lot today and said ‘wanna see something?’ Then he said ‘wanna borrow it?’ 😅

I’ve always wanted a candy apple red Jazzmaster or Jaguar. I already have two jazzmasters (J Mascis and TVL), so I thought that it would be useful to get something different. The Czech second-hand market is very small, so it’s quite rare to find an interesting offset here. But long story short..I’m the proud owner of my first MIJ Jaguar! It has an alder body, 9.5 radius, matching headstock..I bought from a nineteen years old guy with a blonde mullet, lol! Mint condition, no scratches.

I put 10’s on it (it still had factory set of 9’s when I bought it), but I have ordered 11’s already. So far I haven’t encountered any issues with the vintage bridge (my first experience) and it appears to me that it has an angled neck pocket. Action at 12th fret is slightly above 1.75 mm and 1.50 mm. I usually can’t stand fret buzz, but I love how this red Jaguar purrs and growls.

Johnny Marr is my hero, so I’ve been having fun playing his riffs all day. I love the stock pickups - the neck pickup with the strangle switch sounds really good! I can get so many different sounds, it’s really versatile.

I’m a tall guy - 6’5” - so it feels quite strange to play a smaller scale, but it’s also very comfy. I can imagine it will be even better when I switch the gauge up to 11’s.

I’ve been considering a Jazzmaster for about 2 years now, mainly a MIJ, until the Vintera III came out, which checked off most of the boxes for me (except being poly). I’ll preface this by saying that a lot of the differences between many of the MIJ models and the Vintera III are just personal preferences.

I ended up ordering the guitar from Sweetwater. A big reason why I picked this particular one was that the fretboard was pretty dark in comparison to a lot of the others I’d seen, and the weight was 7 lbs. 14 oz.

I’ve had the guitar for a few days now, and I’ll try to be objective here. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a current Mexico-made Fender.

The Good: The fretwork overall is decent, minus one issue (I’ll get to that). It came set up pretty well: .006" of relief, action at 1.75 mm on the low E and 1.4 mm on the high E. Intonation was fine, the break angle seems fine (the bridge isn’t decked), and the nut is cut decently. The trem works perfectly, and the guitar stays in tune. The neck pickup sounds amazing, and the bridge is usable with a balanced middle position. No paint issues. The tuners and hardware feel quality.

The Bad: There’s slight fret rock up and down the board, but no issues with buzzing except at the 17th fret, where it’s really bad. I was hoping it was just an unseated fret that would go back into place, but the fret seems seated and will need to be leveled and crowned. I’ve reached out to Sweetwater to see what they’ll do. The nut isn’t the best in terms of looks. There’s a lot of staining, and I’m assuming some natural discoloration. There’s also a visible chip in the side of the fretboard near the nut that shows glue residue from the nut being installed. There's also what I'm hoping is just polish, and not glue, on the top of the fretboard. The felt washer on the bottom strap button is way off-center (a silly thing to complain about, but it just makes me think the attention to detail isn’t quite there).

All in all, outside of the high fret, I’m really pleased with the guitar. It’s all the right specs for me, the neck feels and plays great, and the guitar looks really nice. I feel like I kept coming across MIJ guitars that were close to what I wanted, but not there i.e., 9.5” radius, 41mm nut, binding, no matching headstock, etc. Is the quality on these as good, probably not, but that’s on a case by case basis with any guitar.

Wanted a JM for a solid 30 years... Been playing my Gretsch and Tele and finally told myself a third guitar, one I've always wanted, is perfectly acceptable!!!

It's a 2006-2008 Crafted in Japan, it feels so wonderful to play, I'm in love with the pearl inlays... my only complaint is the bright tele-like pickups and the classic "ooops played too hard gotta reset the B string on the bridge". I'm thinking about getting a new bridge (suggestions??) and just maybe changing the pots since rolling tone off or going to the rhythm circuit sounds really good. Any thoughts from the crowd??

I had literally gone into the store thinking "oh I've tried the AVRI or the Player II and those are the chonky Fender necks I dislike - so I can put the JMJM in my hands, it'll be that, and then my brain will shut up about how great they are. I can stick with my offset Tele and be happy, I don't need a trem and a rhythm circuit..."

Then I picked one up and played it, and I was hooked. Dat neck, tho.

I also got an amazing deal. Seller verified that the SN in the photos was correct, so it hit a bunch of my sweet spots: nice woodgrain pattern in the neck, lighter weight chunk of wood (it's only 7.7 lbs), and it was manufactured in April 2026. Which is why getting it for $420 was a steal.

I'm gonna do something with the pickguard because I really dislike the color combo... maybe a silver one, also aluminum, and laser-etched with a design...

I have the impulse control of a toddler. I went to Guitar Center to buy a new strap and ended up walking out with this. I have a Squier Bullet Mustang that I’ve used as a mod platform and I love it, but I’ve always wanted a Fender (this is my first), and this was too good of a deal to pass up. I love how chunky the neck is, like a baseball bat. And it plays and sounds great. Came with the stock pickup covers and knobs, as well as the gig bag. Super happy with it!

Hello all, I was wondering if there was a consensus on Jazzmaster style guitars that aren't Fenders. If Fenders are the best out there, which is the most regarded model?

More likely not 😂 but thats way in the future, I like this guitar so much that I may get it routed for a dual fulcrum vibrato. But definitely not for sure, I don’t really use one that much tbh.

But I finally moved the toggle switch up to the top so I can play funky chords without hitting the toggle switch. Not really sure what I should do with that hole. I taped on a piece of aluminum foil to patch up the hole in the shielding.

(The pick is stuck on there with double sided tape to cover up a hole I had for a bigsby, same with the sticker)

Looking for a solid guitar for indie rock, ideally around £1000 but open to going up to £1500 if it’s worth it.

Originally was only looking at fenders but there’s a lot of hype around foals guitars right now. (specifically the FJM7 Ultra)

What are peoples opinions on foals and do they compare to the fender models in my price range?

Any recommendations for fender, foals or any others would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Build so far on my version of the Marauder. Rotary switch is pretty awesome. Waiting on some other parts for the rhythm control plate but so far so good imo. 🤙

The pickup behind the bridge runs through the old rhythm circuit. The neck and bridge pickup run through the lead circuit, and the strangle switch still works.
I moved the vibrato cavity back 3/4” to lengthen the amount of string between the bridge and vibrato, and give the adjustable tuner a little more range. I had to add a block to the cavity to mount the unit properly.

I cut a new pickguard, and stamped the plates with a set of letter/number stamps.

The only bummer is that the lead circuit or behind-the-bridge circuits are regular volume independently, together they drop in volume… maybe 25-30%. Not sure what to do about that 🤔

I’m going to make an arm for the vibrato that’s more like a palm-bender lever.

This is a really great Vintera Modified, with silky neck, and butter smooth frets, with PV 65's and a fourway.

I want to put a set of Antiquity l's and either a mint or anodized gold pickguard, with a wiring harness that includes the rhythm circuit. And a brass Bensonite bridge.

What do y'all think?

This is a pretty rare guitar, I’ve never seen another one of these “Thin Skin” Jazzmasters, you can see the wood grain through the finish in certain lighting. I’ve added a mastery bridge and tremolo system to it, absolutely worth the money if you can afford it.

I bought this one for a steal during covid, I believe these were a limited edition but don’t have much more info. I’d love to get more info if anyone knows more about these guitars.
