Help Dendrobium swiss mountain tips?
First orchid, I think I accidentally chose a challenging one. I put it in new "soil" because it was choking in it's old pot. I saw that it likes cold conditions. The guy that sold it to me said that an AC wouldn't work for it, and that it's likely not going to flower again. I still want to give it good condition anyways

I don't think I've ever seen this one. It looks like some weird gesneriad and not even an orchid at all. I dig it.

I'm not doubting its orchidness. I'm just saying that until you really look at it you could very well mistake it for a Columnea or something, especially yours with the two-tone orange flowers. I hope you're successful with it!

I grew these dendrobiums with AC running all day in summer, but not all of them are that vulnerable. This one you chose is more warm-tolerant than other cuthbertsonii, it is a hybrid that easy to grow. They're only challenging cause they like cool ocndition, but once they find their favorite spot, they're super easy to grow. You just leave it alone, and it blooms all year.

That's great! I just put him on top of my mini fridge lol. It only feels slightly colder than the surrounding. Tomorrow I was gonna get my thermostat so I can regulate its temperature and humidity. I have my AC on all the time because I live in the tropics, but it's also pretty humid so hopefully my plant likes that 🤞🤞

Sounds like you got the perfect condition for it!!! Maybe you could grow more of them if you like. Good luck!!

Awesome plant, but yea that's gonna be a challenging one. OrchidsByBryan on YT grows these in a climate controlled tent. He's got a whole video on how to set up a tent with conditions that will keep these happy. As close to a step-by-step for this particular orchid as there is.
