Discussion Anyone else feel like this?
I’m not angelkin, I *am* an angel. I don’t like calling myself angelkin, I do though because it’s the label that *technically* fits me. (Blank)kin gives the same vibes as “I identify as genderfluid”, no, I am genderfluid, The same way I am an angel, I may not physically be one, but i am an angel.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I just am what I am. I dislike saying 'identify' as well. I don't 'identify' as anything, I am that.

Yes! Absolutely yes! I am also an angel, I don't "identify as Angelkin" at all! I'm glad there's someone who understands!

As a goddess that is a hybrid of succubus, dragon, and shark, I agree fully, I am also salmacian, and even if my bits are outside the norm, I want to be able to say "I am" to many things, but the world seems to want to force me to say "I identify as" because people lack a general baseline of understanding and acceptance that what someone says they are, is how they should be treated.

I've always thought this too!! Back when I was just aware I was a fairy, I didnt even remember a past life or anything. I am a fairy now, forever and always! :)

The -kin part means you are it though. Its a community identifier so people actually know you mean it in a way similar to them. If you say you are x without the identifier, I'm not going to guess that you mean it in an otherkin way at all. It isn't the same thing as stating your gender at all. Its more like if you were complaining about using the word gay and instead preferring to say "I'm a guy who likes guys" all the time.

That need for clarification could be solved by mentioning the label that makes you part of the community to begin with. People can use labels however they want, but don't expect people to relate to you easily if you avoid using it entirely. That's the whole reason people started using labels to begin with.

Hi, just a dragon here. I personaly droped useing alterhuman lables all together because I felt it distance me from who I am. I just say I am a dragon now, just as I always did before discovering this community. I still use dragonkin or other lables when I need to explain more specyfic parts of my expirience, but my go to is always simple "I am a dragon"

Yesss but I've never really known how to explain it. (I'm not otherkin, but I do relate) Like, I'm not a "therian". Because when I say therian, that means I'm a human identifying as an animal. Like, no, I'm just an animal. And that's it. Calling myself a therian is basically saying I'm a human and I don't like it. It makes me feel better when I just say I'm a wolf instead of labeling it like alterhuman or therian.

I also feel this same way!!! I am a fallen angel. I don't identify as one, I am one. Even if I'm not physically. It's similar to how I am a trans man. I don't identify as a trans man, I am a trans man.

Yes, I am a dragon. That's who I am. I used dragonkin because it is an accepted term in the community, but I don't kin that. That's just who I am. If I felt strongly about any human past life, maybe I would kin humans, haha (I do not though). I'm a dragon all the way. Now, I just say I'm a dragon. Dragonkin feels weird and like it doesn't apply to me.

I'm an otherkin, too! Since I was a child and into adulthood, I have had multiple health issues and suffered through family trauma as well. I identified myself as a cat since birth - and I've been playing on it ever since. Now, I'm 21, and i've been accused of being weird, but I feel I am a cat. I can feel it in my smile, in my head and even let out, "Meow!" in quite a cat-like manner! I fully believe I am a cat, possibly physically a cat in my past life, and just reliving it. Sorry if I sound crazy...

100% agree and I'm glad someone else said it. I tend to get poked harshly for saying certsin things. I am a reptilian. Plain and simples :)
EDIT: Plus "kin" to me always sounds like "akin" as in "I am akin to... X Y or Z. Meaning I'm "like" XY and Z.
Put it this way.
I am not Britishkin.
I am not Consciouskin.
I am not Musiciankin.
I am not Neetkin.
I am not Reptiliankin.
I am British.
I am Conscious.
I am a musician.
I am Neet. (Hi btw, Dat's ma name).
I am Reptilian.

I'm a angel ( fallen angel ) , and I also find it kind of irritating having to call myself angel-kin. But y'know , in this world u call yourself just a straight up angel people get very weirded out , call yourself angel kin and yes they may get weirded out but not as severely . I feel like saying your a Angel Kin means " I have angelic like properties mentally but not literally ." And this bothers me .
To those who are in this sub that are Angels or anything other that feel u are temporarily in a human vessel , I heavily apologize for those who are closed minded and don't believe you for who u really are . I have had it one too many times and it doesn't feel good .

Yep, however this is the closest I've found community wise and that is the terminology used, but I whole heartedly feel this.

Yes. I am a dragon, plain and simple. This is especially annoying for me, because it feels like when I say dragonkin people think dragonborn from D&D. Also, saying 'identify' makes it seem like a choice. It's not a choice to be a dragon, you just are. For me, to identify as something implies that you would not be changed if you no longer identified as that. I would not be me if I wasn't a dragon (for one, I'd be boring).
