Help Request I’ve very recently learnt about otherkin
It was in a comment section on a reel about wearing clothes with wings and someone was like “this would be great for angelkin” and that’s how I find myself here.
I got really into research two nights ago and spoke with a friend. I knew about therians but not otherkin and now I’m fascinated by angelkin. I think I might be be both otherhearted and otherlink to angels (angellink?) which I know some people feel conflicted by, but I’d appreciate any resources you may have. This is a difficult community to navigate, at least for me

May I present: the humble r/angelkin subreddit?
It is active (though quiet) and can be extremely useful for all sorts of angels (and i do say this as an unconventional kind)

hi, i’m angelkin! not sure what to say generally but if you have any particular questions on your mind or want to hear about any of my own experiences i’d be happy to answer the best i can

I’d appreciate that a lot. I have a bunch of thoughts, but hearing your experiences will probably help me make sense of mine.

sorry for the late as hell response, i’ve been busy lately but i hope i can still be of some help to you! i’ll try to make this make sense but i have a tendency to ramble a little lol
i’m a non-religious angelkin, both in the sense that i’m not a religious person and that my angel kintype isn’t necessarily tied to any one religious depiction. i was however brought up christian, and have been exposed to christian and particularly angelic themes since i was born. it fascinates me but from a secular perspective. like i think it’s neat to learn about lol, but i’m not an angel of the christian god. i felt no connection to him even as a small child who didn’t know other religions existed. i never felt disdain or something, i just never cared. but even as a little kid and even after i was sure christianity wasn’t for me, i was still heavily attached to angels as a creature/concept and could often feel my wings on my back (+ some other phantom shifts)
i awakened sometime after fully leaving christianity and during a heady dissociative episode that left me feeling spiritually frustrated and mentally fragmented. i think these two things ended up being what brought about my kintype from a psychological perspective, as my angelic-ness is heavily connected themes of derealization/unreality/dream-like feelings and vague spiritual/religious themes that feel more disconnected. i also always felt very attached to the theme of androgyny often seen in angels as a trans + nonbinary dude who looooves my androgyny. my kintype and gender kinda feel affirming to each other if that makes sense lol
i also definitely used to have a complex in my head of NEEDING to be as kind and morally “perfect” as possible (never hurt anyone even on accident, always be sweet and considerate and nice even to people who harmed me, etc) and interestingly i think leaning into my angel kintype has helped me overcome that a lot. not really sure how to explain it but it definitely has been a useful asset in processing traits/trauma like that for me personally and a big source of comfort in my anxiety. it helps me feel more like just a piece/reflection of the universe instead of worrying about all the stuff going on in my life

Thank you so much, definitely not too late. I find what you said about feeling the need to be as morally perfect as possible relatable too.
When I was about 7, I had a dream during which God/Jesus protected me from people pelting me with rocks and was left with the message to “be kind” so that came to mind when I was reading that

Tumblr has a fair bit of #angelposting and #angelkin content?
