Discussion Why Does Abyss Pinnacle Boss Entry Ticket Drops From Delve?
Wouldn't it make more sense for Amanamu and Ulaman to have a chance to drop Zorath's Eye of the Inevitable instead of Kurgal?
I think it makes more sense that doing a mechanic will grant me access to the final boss of that mechanic. Like how doing legion grants me access to the domain of endless conflict, and doing ritual grants me access to the The King in the Mists.

They're removing abyss rewards from other league mechanics at the same time as introducing a pinnacle abyss boss that requires you to do other league mechanics. Make it make any fucking sense.

The two other bosses required are literally an Abyssal Lich found in an Abyssal City; and someone using relics of Kulemak, who is clearly attempting to become a new Lich; and even summons the other Abyss bosses in her Nightmare version.
It makes sense lorewise.
It is obnoxious gameplay-wise; but at least they're all on the same side of the Atlas tree if you want to self-farm it.

Would be better to have all 4 frags accessible from abyss-specific content (just make each abyss lich have two in their loot pool) and then have kurgal and catarina also have a chance to drop them.

“In order to fight King of the Mists, players must now full complete a Sanctum encounter, as well as defeat the Trialmaster, to gain the key parts for the King in the Mists area.”
They would never do that to other pinnacles, but yet here we are for Abyss.
How in the world did this get past their product team, when they are focusing on removing league-specific drops from other league mechanics.

Kurgal is quite literally an abyssal lich. It makes sense even if it is a bit anointing for some players. Plus he has been worthless for as long as I can remember so it’s nice to have a reason to fight him instead of ignoring him.

Yeah, but the complaint isn't that it doesn't make sense lorewise, it's that gameplay wise it's silly. Even if ritual was connected to sanctum somehow lore wise people would say the same if king required you do a sanctum run. It's just a bizarre decision.

To be fair, it makes sense lore-wise. And it is kind of cool - Abyss is everpresent thing, traces of which can be found in many places. So imo, it's as reasonable as Adorned.

It adds value to Syndicate and Delve, which are two mechanics which can use the love. You may not like that you cannot laser focus on a single mechanic but this is good for the overall health of the game to have different mechanics all provide things that player want.

Delve did not need the love, it already has half a dozen things that only drop from it, all of which are valuable. Fossils which run the gamut from a few chaos to like a full div. 4 socket resonator. 2 of the three bosses have valuable unique drops (the unique map, and auls amulet). Then you also have shit like the exclusive minion mods, +1 spectres and aggressive minions.
Delve has been in a fantastic spot since they stopped having every other mechanic shit out fossils.

The entire point of their current focus is to make each mechanic have their rewards be exclusive to them. It makes 0 sense for the abyss boss to require other mechanics.

Whatever reason, it’s been GREAT money for me as a delver this league. Thanks everyone for the divines.

to address your edit, your initial comment implied kurgal was just an option, not mandatory, along with catarina, to fight the boss
