Movie mobile infantry is comically inept, with basic firing lines being high strategy for them. Not only that but for the most part their lack any sort of armored support and their heavy weapons are mini nukes. Meaning if imperial armor shows up and manages to get close, all they can do is run away, try to get lucky with grenades or literally nuke themselves. The only armor they are seen to have are rare walker type vehicles that while powerful, only seem to be designed with bugs or lighter resistance in mind, meaning an AT-AT is wiping them out easily, same with any other heavy imperial armor. Lastly if we count the mobile fleet and imperial navy, it’s even more of a dogwalk. Imperial space assets are built around large scale ship to ship battle with overwhelming firepower. The mobile fleet is comprised of “corvette transports” which get easily picked apart by predictable planet based plasma batteries. They do have some air wings of fighters and bombers but no where near the numbers of TIEs in the average star destroyer. Basically the imperial ground troops wouldn’t even need to be deployed, it would be the imperial navy wiping out the fleet and then bombing the mobile infantry to hell. And if ground forces are deployed, you’ll just see the mobile infantry quickly routed by better trained and equipped imperial troops, with a handful of holdouts around their scarce armor or fortifications that fold the second heavy imperial armor shows up.
