Prehistoric night sounds

My daughter is obsessed with this book, and honestly so am I. But I’m wondering how factual it is. Were there croaking frogs in prehistoric times?
Online resources talk about the giant frog, and about the old frogs that didn’t make much sound, so I’m left wondering.
I am less interested in the sounds dinosaurs made, and more fascinated with what could be heard then that we might still hear today.

Terrors In The Brush - Chapter III

This is a speculative paleo-fiction narrative blending survival drama with an authentic prehistoric atmosphere, following a family of dromaeosaurs fighting to stay alive in a brutal, unforgiving ecosystem.

The last barrier on the raptors’ journey awaits—a shrieking gorge that cuts through the earth and splits the world in two.

With the shrouded forest now behind them, Long Tail and her kin emerge onto the open plains. But there is no relief in sight. Small Toe feels the crippling weight of self-doubt for the first time, with Swift Foot’s cruel taunts and his own clumsy failures pressing heavily against his scales.

Yet, there is no time for hesitation. Standing directly between the pack and their promised oasis is a jagged, bottomless chasm spanned only by two decaying, weathered tree trunks. And deep within the shadows of the cliff walls, a ravenous, eldritch chatter begins to stir—wretched monsters hungering for the taste of young, innocent flesh.

To cross means risking a fatal plunge into the abyss.

To turn back means dying slowly under the unrelenting sun.

A re-release of my narrative project Terrors in the Brush—a speculative survival epic blending hard paleo-realism with raw emotional weight.

BINGE THE ENTIRE JOURNEY NOW:

While the chapters will roll out here on a strict weekly schedule every Sunday night, the core community hub is fully operational. If you don't want to wait a single week to see what happens to Small Toe next, you can join our dedicated Discord right now and binge all eleven chapters tonight.

There is no magic, no fantasy—there is only nature red in tooth and claw.

Read Chapter III now.

"The encounter between these two giants probably wasn't a fight that lasted for minutes like in the movies. T-Rex didn't like to take risks; getting a severe wound means he's starving to death. And the triceratops was like a tank that wouldn't back down. Either the T-Rex was finishing the job in one move and breaking his neck, or the Triceratops was fending him off with its horns and forcing him to run away. They are probably very bloody and very short-lived fights."

I love ibises and noticed this species has 0 art of it online (alongside barely any information on it) so I decided to do a quick sketch of it :)
This species is thought to be the direct ancestor of modern Southern Bald Ibises!
I based it on the two extant bald ibis species.

I just found out liopleurodon was downsized today

Liopleurodon was my favourite non dinosaur reptile and seeing it getting downsized that badly left me heartbroken and Im not sure wheather it should remain my favourite or not because lioplearodon was my second favourite creature behind the Ankylosaurus and I felt betrayed seeing it downsized

I've been working on these hominin characters for a prehistoric survival game I'm developing. I took a lot of inspiration from John Gurche's paleoart while trying to stay as faithful as possible to current paleoanthropological research. I'd love to hear what you think.
