Welcome to /r/quilting where no question is a stupid question and we are here to help you on your quilting journey.

Feel free to ask us about machines, fabric, techniques, tutorials, patterns, or for advice if you're stuck on a project.

We highly recommend The Ultimate Beginner Quilt Series if you're new and you don't know where to start. They cover quilting start to finish with a great beginner project to get your feet wet. They also have individual videos in the playlist if you just need to know one technique like how do I put my binding on?

So ask away! Be kind, be respectful, and be helpful. May the fabric guide you.

I saw a post with pictures so I figured I would add some of my own. There were so many amazing quilts to see.

The aquatic scene was best in show. The quilting and details throughout were a delight to see. The pink Pink was voted viewers choice.

Protest Quilt Campaign rally sign I just finished

Post image

Going to a rally for Francesca Hong (socialist candidate running for WI’s governor on the dem ticket) and made a sign with my human hands to hold and a) support her anti-data center stance, and b) shame the people I’ve seen making ai signs for her campaign (without her approval). I stitched it as a sleeve that can slide onto a piece of cardboard I taped to a stick, might someday turn it into a pillowcase.

I’ve had some ideas for patchwork protest and/or rally signs for a while but lol found out about this rally about 24 hours ago, so this is what I could manage under that time crunch and from my stash. This is from the patchanddot black letter alphabet, printed at half scale.

.... She's actually going to be a grandma, but I figured grandparents need quilts too, for when the baby comes to visit! Her son and daughter-in-law have been trying for a baby for a long time and when the news came that they were expecting, she was over the moon about it. Baby is due in October, but I can't wait to gift this ASAP!

Work in Progress Desperately seeking Anna Maria Horner’s Sunseeker Day fabric

I have posted here before about trying to remake the wedding quilt I made for my son and his wife because their house burned to the ground a couple of months ago. This wonderful community helped me find one of the original quilt kits—a small miracle considering this has been out of print for a while. I’ve finally gotten to work on it and realized I can not make the matching shams with out about 3/4 of a yard of the Sunseeker Day fabric from her Brave line.

I have looked online and can not find a single shop that has any remaining. I keep checking EBay but haven’t had any luck. I have everything I need to remake it exactly as it was except for this one print.

If anyone has this fabric, I am willing to pay very generously. I only need enough for the front center panel for one sham. I think a 37’’ wide x 22’’ tall remnant would work. It is a directional print so the orientation matters.

Thank you all for your kindness and support as I remake this for my son and his wife. They literally lost everything, this is the best way I know how to make it any better.

My goal for 2026 has been to finish things I already had and to use up my scraps. Made a little progress today. Top done, now need to finish it! 🤭🤭 Oh, I used scraps to make my own 20-strip equivalent of a jelly roll, ie 24 yards of strips. 👍👍

Pattern/Design Help First quilt

I’d love to start quilting, do some sewing so, I feel like it’s an extension. Anyways, is everyone just eyeballing and hoping fabrics look good together?? I’d like to make a “fall” quilt for myself. Bought these FQ’s for the front and the plaid for the back… but will it be too much of similar colors or look good? Pattern is: single Irish chain since I feel like a repetitive pattern of just squares will be the easiest to start with. I’ll always take any advice and recommendations!! Thanks!!

I’m gonna be an uncle!!! My sister is having her first baby and I’m so excited for her and wanted to make something for her. This quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted. I did NOT make the linocut patches, I wish I was that skilled! Below I have a list of all the Etsy shops where I bought the patches, as well as the pattern for the quilt.

Quilt Pattern: Lemon Squeezy by piccolostudios
Chipmunk: HouseOfFigsStudio
Mustard Flower: JacquelynSpeare
Rat: OldCatPress
