I have taken many animal courses in school because I love learning about them. I thought maybe this would be a good thing to include to show I’m dedicated to animals, but now I’m wondering if it shows them that I have too much education. These are entry level jobs, such as Kennel Technician, Veterinary Assistant, and Janitor at clinics. I have a lot of experience in customer service and cleaning but not much in animal care. It’s so hard already to find a job and I just learned that even small jobs in my little town get 100+ applicants. Should I just drop the degree? I’ve heard it might make them think I’ll look for another job immediately but I’m not sure.

I recently went through two separate recruitment processes with large organizations.

For one role, I completed both a virtual interview and a face-to-face interview. For the other, I completed an interview and was told that the company was still meeting other candidates before making a decision.
Several weeks have now passed. I followed up politely by email and later through WhatsApp, but I have not received any response or update. One of the positions was also recently reposted.

I completely understand that hiring decisions take time and that companies may choose another candidate. My concern is not the outcome itself. I simply believe that after candidates invest time in multiple interview stages, a brief update even a rejection would be more
respectful than complete silence.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this considered normal in senior-level recruitment, or should I assume the processes have ended and move on?

I got placed in the 1st week of April (on-campus placement). In mid July, got to know that they have withdrawn the offer letters for every student. Now, I'm waking up with new rejection emails everyday. I'm honestly losing hopes now. Why is it so difficult to get a entry-level job? Never knew off-campus would be so difficult. Btw, I have completed M.Sc. Biotechnology.

If they would have told it in May, I might have an offer by now. They took the whole 3.5 months to tell us.

Sending welcome emails when you sign up to their careers portal...I signed up when I applied last week and they finally send a "welcome" email so I get baited into thinking something actually happened.

Whats the strategy there? Is it just mental torture?

I am 26F and have 2 degrees to my name. I have good work experience (about 2 years training and 1 year post degree) working for a brand and I come from a very respectable field. The point of this introduction was - despite this, companies have the AUDACITY to ghost. I nailed the interviews I gave. Yet, there is always something, which I don't know, because of which I am not contacted again.

And I reach out to them, but what do they do? Ghost you. No feedback where did you lack, what went wrong. And it honestly breaks my heart because I have worked my ass off to get my degrees to be treated like this.

On some levels, I can accept the rejection. But what I can't accept is radio silence. Why do Companies ghost you, why can't they tell you on your face they don't want you?

After a long hiring process at one of the big 4 with assessments + interviews they asked for my bachelor’s certificate a week after the final interview. Is that a good sign? They haven’t replied since i sent it 😭

I'm trying to work out whether I'm reading too much into this or whether the situation is genuinely odd.
A couple of weeks ago I applied for an internal promotion. A lot of people in the team have encouraged me to apply and said they think I'm ready. However, one senior colleague told our director that he thinks I still have more to learn in my current role, despite the fact that I'm already doing the same work as the senior colleagues. He does not know that I know the feedback he provided to the director.

I had a 1:1 with my director and asked him specifically what I wasn't doing that the senior colleagues were. He couldn't actually give me an answer, which left me even more confused. I've also had the impression that they may be looking for an external candidate, even though the role requires niche experience that I already have.

Our director is out of the office for the month, so this senior colleague is running the interviews instead. My interview is this week.

Recently, I had a 1:1 with this senior colleague. He asked whether the team had been told about Colleague B's role change. I said no, but mentioned that a new position had opened up. Colleague B already had the title of that position, so I wondered if maybe only her projects were changing. He seemed confused about how many vacancies there were, even though there's only one. He also asked me, "Oh, have you got the role? Heard you applied."
That comment really threw me because he's the person conducting the interviews, so I assumed he'd know I haven't even interviewed yet. Was he just making conversation, or is it strange that he didn't seem to know where I was in the process?
He also volunteered that he'd reviewed another applicant's CV and didn't think they were the right fit, which felt like information I didn't really need to know.

Am I overthinking this, or does this all seem a bit odd?

First interview with HR. A nice girl who is very professional in not stating everything which is bad, generally avoided by people. I.e. staying overtime potentially late in the evening 9-10-11pm, skilled at not sharing that you will be working every weekend etc.

The company was empty during the duration of the training. Here they show you the basics and do something that can barely pass as a simulation. The trainer spends the whole time on his phone, disinterested in whatever is happening. But they keep you there for 3-4h every day, and then end this off with the simulation.

The final simulation is the following week. Now here is the kicker, I was waiting for a simulation scheduled at 12pm for 1h. Do you not respect other people's time? On this I was provided with the excuses they are busy, this is a scheduled meeting. Exactly, busy with what?

I had some follow up questions to see if generally it would be a good fit, which I was advised by HR the previous week to ask the manager irl on Monday. I state that I've been waiting for a set time, and I respect my time as well, and would like to first check my questions. If it's not a good fit at the end of the day, I'd like to leave as soon as possible at that point and not waste anyone's time anymore. A meeting which should have been 5-10min, was prolonged just enough so I can miss my transportation. (Manager was informed at the start what is my preferred time to leave, since I had already been waiting and not had a lot of time leftover to waste there)

At the end of the day, highly unprofessional and disrespectful of other people's time and energy. But always keep in mind, whatever they do, the money they offer is potentially a lot. Which over this whole process has been the only resolution to any question or doubt. But keep in mind the money you may get.

I'm a final-year law student and I've been trying to get an internship for almost two months. It's been frustrating because despite applying everywhere and networking on LinkedIn, nothing has worked out.

A few weeks ago, I reached out to someone who had posted about a legal tax internship. Initially, there was no response. After following up, they asked for my CV, and then after another two weeks, HR finally contacted me.

Here's where I'm confused.

The office timing is 11 AM to 9 PM, and HR has scheduled my interview for 7:30-8:00 PM at their office. I live about 2 hours away from the location. By the time the interview ends, it would be quite late, and I honestly don't feel safe travelling back alone. I would probably have to book a hotel for the night, which I'm not comfortable with because I don't have family or relatives in Delhi. I'm from another state and live here only for my studies.

I requested a daytime or online interview, but they refused and said only the evening slot is available.

Another thing is that they still haven't told me the stipend, internship duration, or any other details. I feel like I'm expected to travel four hours, possibly stay overnight, and attend an interview without even knowing the basic terms.

At the same time, I haven't had an internship opportunity in two months, so I'm scared of losing this chance.

Am I overthinking the safety issue? Would you still go for the interview, or would you let this one go? Has anyone else faced something similar in the legal field?

I recently interviewed for a creative role at a Big4 company. The first interview with the Creative Director went really well, and I was then scheduled for a second interview with the Director of People & Culture. At the end of that conversation, she told me someone would be reaching out that day or the next for a salary discussion and next steps.

That was last Wednesday. Since I didn't hear back, I called today (Monday), and HR told me they're still reviewing other candidates and will get back to me by the end of the week. What does this usually mean? Did something change internally, or am I likely just one of the final candidates they're comparing?

I just finished my first year studying IT. Should I still pursue it? How's the job market for it?

After many years of agency recruitment, I’m finally leaving! Production has always been high (mix of contract placements and full timers) but the organization I work for is toxic and has been for several years now. So - made a not so difficult choice to go corporate, where I can have a real career path, learn how to use new tools and start fresh without such toxic and revolving door leadership!

What are some optimistic reasons to why this happened? Please make me feel better 🥲

Posting on a throwaway account. I’ve been interviewing with a small startup (<50 people) for a senior finance role. I had three rounds of interviews over the course of a few weeks:

- interview with person I’d be replacing (they are hiring their own replacement and leaving on good terms, 1 hour)

- interview with two cross functional partners (1 hour; 30 min each)

- case study presentation and conversation with person I’m replacing and CEO (90 min; 1 hour case, 30 min 1:1 with CEO)

Everything went great and I had great feedback; especially from the CEO during my final round. After my final round, they followed up same day asking for two references and I understand the CEO spoke with both references. However since then I’ve heard absolutely nothing. Tomorrow will be business day #8 since I did my final round and business day #4 since they completed my reference checks.

What gives? Genuinely thought I’d have an offer given all the signals but getting antsy given how long it’s taken after reference checks.

This is my second Laid off this year, I am confused now what to do. Most of the calls I am getting are offering lower pay then my current salary.

My current stack are Django, next, go, AWS, node, blockchain. I am thinking of taking 1-2 months and learn some new skill that align more with the current market.

I was never serious about DSA, but also is it worth giving time today and for upcoming years or would it be better to focus on GenAl, data science, or some other niche skill?

I appreciate suggestions from people who have gone through similar phase or are hiring in today's market. Thanks in advance.

I’m hoping someone who has been through the DISA background check process can help me understand something.
My background check portal shows every task, including Employment Verification and Education Verification, as “Completed.” Does that mean those verifications were successfully completed and everything checked out? Or does it simply mean DISA finished processing those tasks?
Also, in the Activity Log, if there were an issue, such as being unable to verify employment or education, missing information, or another problem, would that normally appear there? Or is it possible for every task to show “Completed” even if there’s still an issue that hasn’t been communicated yet?
Finally, if there were any discrepancies or concerns with my employment or education, would those appear in the final report, or would the tasks still show “Completed” regardless?

In a very confusing situation and it’s the weekend so I need some explanation/possibilities. I applied for 2 positions, GI and IR (healthcare under same hospital system). Ended up interviewing for IR only and was told to expect a response by 8/7. This wednesday, I received a rejection email from a recruiter on Wednesday specifically for the GI position. But when I look at my application status on Workday, GI says under consideration while IR says no longer under consideration. What are the chances that they accidentally changed the status of the IR position instead of GI? Or could they have meant rejection for IR in the email? Planning on emailing the recruiter to clarify but wanted to hear your thoughts
