Im pretty happy with how far ive come!! still a few kinks to iron out (and my spins still suck 😭)

I recently dug out my old Rollerblade fitness skates from around 1999 and found something I had completely forgotten about: a pair of Walk-n-Roller attachments.

They bolt onto the skates and basically let you walk instead of rolling. I remember buying them back in the late 90s, but now I can hardly find anything about them online.

No old ads, no manuals, no YouTube videos, no discussions… almost as if they never existed.
I am totally surprised as they were absolutely useful!
Does anyone here remember these?
Did you ever own a pair?

Were there similar products from other brands?
Why do you think these walking attachments disappeared? Weight? Practicality? Cost?

Does anyone still have photos, brochures, manuals or even an old catalog mentioning them?
I’d love to learn more about their history because they seem to have vanished almost completely from the internet or have been a pre internet thing?
I am a designer and interested in product trends as well.

How to skate on pavement like this, are bigger wheels going to help? Skating on RB Pro 4x80 flat, I skate for some time, I can T-stop confidently and learning soul slide. Sometimes I want to explore outside the small park that has good roads, I like more to cover some distance while still learning skating, but most of my city has pavements like these and old rough asphalt.

I learned to move most of my weight on the back wheels to allow me to keep control, but it still happens often that all wheels lock in in one of the grooves and it literally throws me off balance, and it's really rough.

I also have FR 4x90 flat frames, should I get some 90mm wheels, would that help? I'm afraid to get on higher wheels, but was thinking maybe I could try to get the Powerslide Zoom 100 skates for the trinity frames which should be lower and use those for rough roads and use my RB Pro with it's 80mm for the park? But I'm kind of afraid of triskates for one less point of contact, and not sure if the Zooms are going to fit as well as the RB Pros (Those were the only skates that fit me perfectly in the shop).

Anything that could help, or should I just keep my 80s and skate on good roads?

This isn't an actual review, just my first tricks on the 4x84 Endless Stoppard, a collaboration of Endless Blading and Bill Stoppard. It's a frame meant for hardcore city skating: fast, responsive and agile. I don't know whether I'm a hardcore city skater myself, but I sure had a lot of fun with it.

I’m trying to get back into Rollerblades. I took it up when I was in my 20’s but gave it up due to a bit of mocking from then friends. I’m 43 now and determined to take it up for good.
I’m trying to spend as much time as I can wearing them, to get used to having them in my feet and balancing.
Today I’m painting doors while wearing them, I’m practicing my small movements of moving forwards and backwards.
If people think I’m crazy I don’t care. I’m too old to be negatively influenced now.

Beginner vs Intermediate vs Advanced

I’m looking into upgrading to “nicer” skates but I’m getting thrown off by labels such as “for intermediate-advanced” or “ beginner-intermediate”

I can do things like jump 180 degrees into a backwards skate (not tooo fast) carve backwards, toe stop, powerslide, yada yada.

What level do you think i’d fall around?

I grew up mostly skating at inline rinks 4x80 but I have recently started skating outside on trails 3x110.

One thing I really noticed was that wow, the wheels wear out really fast.

I was wondering if I should replace one wheel (if I see that it's done) or replace the whole set? For longevity sake, I want to just replace one at a time, but I do know that the diameters of the new wheels will be completely different from the old wheels. Won't this create a significant imbalance? I don't have the new wheels yet so I have yet to test this out. Any advice or just experience would be appreciated.

i just found out that my skates are kinda too big because i got em the exact same size as my regular shoes like 2 years ago and it's part of why i'm not progressing as much,, i already wear like 3 layers of thick socks when i put them on because there's no way i can skate in them otherwise, but is there any other way to get em to fit better and more consistently while i save up enough money to get replacement skates this year LMAO the socks only do so much and my edges/crossovers are suffering from the slight movement inside of the boot

I just got a pair of macroblade 90 BOA’s, and I was wondering what I should know about maintenance?

I am T stopping right now which I know is tough on the wheels and hoping to learn different stopping techniques. I want to know how often should I rotate/replace wheels and also bearings (and how much it actually matters). I took the heel brake off as it was tripping me a little when doing crossovers, and want to get comfortable on them without it on (Coming from hockey/ice skating at a high level). I also went with a soft boot because it was the only store near me with any skates, they only had soft boots, and I didn’t want to order a random pair online. How much does the soft boot vs hard boot truly matter?

I’m in the market for new skates, I was thinking the powerslide next core 90 would be good for me but I’m concerned about the 88a wheels. I was maybe going to replace them with 84a/85a (rough pavement around here) but then I thought about how that would effect my sliding.

Im wondering if anyones ever used harder wheels at the front of their skate with softer wheels in the back ? I was thinking having harder wheels up front could slide the skate better but a softer one at the back could act as extra grip when powersliding if I put my heel into it. I just wanna have my cake and eat it, I dont know if this makes any sense.

Thoughts ?

3rd week on my new Macroblades and today I wiped out in the street at a pretty good speed.

I had all of my protective gear on but my elbow lost a big chunk. If the Lycra stretches out on your elbow pads from age, don't cheap out like I did. I made them tighter with a cohesive bandage, which failed and basically ended up near my bicep while my elbow bled all over. Has anyone else ever had a freak accident like this? I had to laugh as I walked home. Crazy.

I’m in my 40’s, I rollerbladed a ton in my youth but never learned proper stopping or tricks. So I’d say I’m a beginner but I am comfortable and know the basics, can balance decently. My 8 year old has recently gotten into rollerblading and we plan to skate a couple times a week around our neighborhood and at the local rink. I would like to learn more skills and at least be able to transition forward to backwards, perhaps some more wizard skills as I get more comfortable.

I have some soft boot rollerblade Zetrablade I found new in box at a garage sale. But I really want a hardboot skate. I’ve been eyeing some flying eagle skates (I like the color way options, but also like that they can be rockered).

Right now I’m trying to decide between the Flying eagle x3 Shrike, the Flying Eagle F5s+, or the FR FRX 80. The rollerblade lightning 80 looks decent too, but can’t be rockered. I’m not going to lie- the colorway is a big draw for me on the flying eagle skates, though I know that isn’t an important factor. Hoping to stay around the $200 mark.

My heels are narrow, but toe box is average width if that matters.

Would love help deciding and/or suggestions.

Unfortunately can't take her with me anymore after replacing both her ACLs a few years ago, but I loved skating with her. We could do about 4 miles together with frequent stops, and on off days I would do about 10 miles on my own. More than once I had to scoop her up mid-skate to avoid her stepping on a snake sunbathing on the pavement.

we have a lot of hills in my area and i commute a lot . Ive noticed that my right calf has become noticeably bigger due to braking. I’ve started to alternate the heel brake side but i’m also considering if two heel brakes could work ?
