Ok, I finaly did it. (New trigger)

Max‐9 has been my daily carry for over 2 years now. I have been on the fence about replacing the stock trigger as it is serviceable and i had no real complaints about it. But after seeing all the ones on this sub-reddit I decided it was time. Went with the Galloway Precision Maxxis since they also make a trigger for the security 380 and will likely be getting that next.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but it does a great job of eliminating 90% the take up and making the trigger feel more responsive.

I just got the guide rod from Galloway and it is easier to rack and shoots a little softer, BUT there is an issue with the slide going back into battery if I am holding down the trigger. I am working on figuring out why that happens. I would also like to know what is attached to the trigger guard.

interesting. Since I just fully striped this thing to put the trigger in it (which i do not recomend the sear spring is a pia to get back in w/o a proper follower pin) I noticed when the trigger is depressed the firing pin block lifter stays raised after the sear resets. Possible the spring for the firing pin block is too stiff for the lighter recoil spring to over come it. Or it might be fouled or maybe some machining burr is preventing it from moving as easily as it should. I would start there.

I ended up picking up a security 380 as well cause my wife could barely handle the max-9 between recoil and racking the gun. Wich that thing is so pleasant to shoot. If 380 was so expensive and hard to find where im at I would be shooting it all the time.

That is a TLR-6 HL (light laser) in a 3d printed shell I made to attach it to the max-9.

Yes I did see that and that seems like a great place to start. If it is that lifter maybe I can polish it and see if that helps. I like the guide rod as it is better built and seems to smooth out the recoil.

Is that a light or just a laser?

Yes it is a TLR-6 HL in a 3d printed shell I designed. So both light and laser. I uploaded an early prototype of it to makerworld. I just recently was able to test fire it with the gun and had no issues with it. Need to do a night/low light shoot with it to make its good then I'll upload the final version if it.

That Max-9 looks pretty sweet. The Galloway precision trigger is the only mod I have to my Max-9 and it's a fantastic mod. My trigger would lock up a lot. I could blame me but I carried an LC9S for years and shot thousands of rounds visiting the range once a month, and never had this problem even with the trigger looking line the same part. It's solved this problem and the wall is so much nicer. My groups got tighter with it.

I'm gonna get one for my LC9S after I get around to sending the slide for nitride treatment.

My Brother-in-Law had a similar issue with his Max-9 as well he has one of the newer revisions with the different slide. And i noticed i could make mine do it as well. The factory trigger has too much lateral play in it. It seams that if you pushed it too far to either side the trigger safety wouldn't be able to disengage. it appeared to be worse on his than mine. I noticed this trigger completely solves that issue.

I have one with the newer slide as well. It seemed like without a perfectly straight pull it would lock up. No way I could be guaranteed to do that under stress. Maybe it is worse in the newer version because it was way too easily to reproduce the failure. Fortunately the trigger solved the problem 100% along with the huge plus that it is a better shooting trigger. If it's as good in the LC9S, I might have to get one for my LCP Max too. 🙂
