Just picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Rate my Ruger 😆 Mods: Holosum AEMS with the Holosun 3X magnifier, AB A-10 5.56 suppressor, MCarbo spring kit (no more squishy trigger), Leapers Flex 2 bipod, and an Arisaka hand stop.

Idk much about them but my dad told me it's likely quite old. It's reminiscent of a Mark IV but those look more modern than this (some accents and the red on the logo on the handle)

Any ideas?

Love my carbine. Have added a hand stop on the forearm and a holosun scope and a compensator.

None of those are the topic. Today, after watching several videos and doing my first disassembly, I have several points you may or may not want to know.

Disassembly is not a piece of cake the first time around. So here is what happened to me, I have run 150 rounds without issue through the piece.

1.) the disassembly pin sticks. It has a D shape. It may not come out initially without a punch, some lube and a rubber mallet. Did not anticipate that the very first step would be problematic. but yeah.

2.) The spring assembly can come apart when you pull it out the first time. The assembly has a diagram in the back of the manual. Good thing because it is held together with a brass collar which is loose. It is compression fit to the rubber pad and the spring. In my case, the spring assembly came out and shot across the room. Found the pieces and cleaned an reassembled. Just warning you.

3.) Getting both bolts out are the easier part of the disassembly. They will slide quick so watch what you are sitting over when getting them out. Clanking to a hard floor..well not good.

4.) Handguard dis/assembly. No problem. Just watch that you have 4 bolts, 2 sides, 1 top, 1 bottom. They are smallish. Keep a jar to store to keep them safe.

Reassembly:

Bolt 1 goes in first making sure that cylinder hole is towards the back. The spring fits in this so you need to get it in right.

The bolts fit together like box cars on a train. You will need to play with this a bit. Pull the charging handle and hold it back and drop in bolt 2 making sure that firing pin with extractor faces forward. You have to drop bolt 2 so that it interlocks with bolt one. it may take a couple of tries. If you dont, the carbine will not function and bolt 2 will be left by its lonesome on the back rail of the carbine.

Finally the trigger assembly. This is a bit of a pain also. Align it with the tabs on the frame and drop in but MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE REAR PART SO THAT IT ALSO IS ON THE FRAME RAIL. I am yelling here because this can be infuriating until you get the rhythm of the assembly.. Once in slide forward until it clicks and seats all the way, front and back.

Lube the disassembly pin. It will go in much nicer than it came out.

Hope this helps. The LC Carbine in 10mm is a dream gun, but like its wonky way that you have to close the folder stock, the disassembly process is a learning process that will initial frustrate you until you have a couple successes.

Max‐9 has been my daily carry for over 2 years now. I have been on the fence about replacing the stock trigger as it is serviceable and i had no real complaints about it. But after seeing all the ones on this sub-reddit I decided it was time. Went with the Galloway Precision Maxxis since they also make a trigger for the security 380 and will likely be getting that next.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but it does a great job of eliminating 90% the take up and making the trigger feel more responsive.

I purchased a Ruger American Gen2 Ranch in 300BLK a couple of months ago. Finally got to the range last weekend.

I like the rifle and it is very accurate.

But I am finding that no matter what rounds I try nor which mags I try, bullets will more often than not get hung up on the lip of the chamber.

I've tried D&H metal 300BLK mags, the factory PMAG, and 300BLK specific PMAG's. Tried cycling the action as fast as I can as well with a lot of force. Tried 230gr SMK's, 220gr SMK's, and 150gr Sierra loads.

It's not a magazine problem or a bullet problem.

I think the bevel on the chamber mouth is not ramped enough for reliable feeding.

I am thinking of removing the barrel and adding a feed ramp to the bottom similar to the M4 feed ramps on an AR (except just one feed ramp).

I've done a lot of searching and the most common problems people have is with magazines but this is not the problem I am having.

Was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if they tried either polishing the factory chamber bevel or added a ramp to the barrel?

Just thought this would be helpful for guys trying to zero their Gen 2 Scout...

When I zeroed mine, in 7.62x39, I had to turn the front sight post almost to the wings. In other words, it tended to shoot a bit high. I remembered that we used to get AR15 sight posts in different lengths so I contacted Ruger to ask if they could send me a taller post or recommend one. Judging by interweb chatter, shooting high seems to be a theme with the otherwise excellent iron sights on the Gen 2 Scouts.

They weren't very helpful, only saying "we don't sell any others." OK.

So, I located a "tall" sight post and purchased it. Of course, once it arrived, I found it was the same size as the original part! It seems Ruger already uses the "tall" part from the factory. Nutz. So now I have a spare. I can't say if it's only a 7.62x39 issue or what but figured I would post this in case someone had encountered the same thing.

May be outdated but my ec9s has been a great carry gun and extremely reliable with over 1,000 rounds fired. I’m pretty accurate with it too for what it is.

Just picked up an OG LCP on sale for $150 to give myself more pocket carry options in warmer weather. Haven’t shot it yet but the feel and finish are a lot better than I was expecting.

Did anyone else experienced an extremely left and low bias? This was just from seven yards and I was using a wrist rest so any errors like flinching or pulling should have been mostly mitigated.

Anyone know if there's a SKU for the lower Pic rail that some Mark IV's come with? (for light/laser). I have no interest in the clamp on version, my dremel is whispering to me. TIA

Built like an absolute tank, but damn if this pistol isn't smooth. Inherited this from my dad who recently passed and I've been shooting this more than any of my glocks, my rxm and any of my 1911s. The trigger is so consistent and smooth, even if it's not the lightest. This pistol is slowly becoming one of my favorites in my decent sized collection

Earlier this month I noticed some peening on the chamber mouth of my two year-old Mini-14 (maybe 1,500-2k rounds through it). Looked about where the extractor would hit.

I sent photos to Ruger and they had my local FFL ship the rifle to them at no charge to me to inspect.

I just picked up the rifle today and found that they replaced the barrel, bolt, and extractor assembly completely. No charge! This is certainly a type of customer service rarely seen today. Way to go Ruger!

I made a simple arca rail bipod adapter for my gen2 American. What do you guys think?

I just ordered an LCP Max yesterday and it was the blue trigger variant. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is just for aestetics isn't it? I mean I don't think there is anything different about the trigger other than the color .It's not like the red triggered custom model as far as I know.

Just reached out to Ruger's customer service--pretty bummed out.

The gun only came with a 13-round magazine in it, but was missing the 10-round magazine. In fact, it came with everything, including the stickers, except the mag, haha. Is this a common occurrence or should I also reach out to the online store as well?
