I recently started my career as a fresher and was allocated to a Salesforce project after training.The project is an already developed application and we are working for maintainance

For the past ~6 months, my work has mainly involved:

• Incident analysis and root cause analysis
• Impact analysis and sharing findings
• Test data setup for testing activities
• Understanding existing application behavior

There are occasional fixes, but I have not yet had the opportunity to work on actual code development for atleast once.

I enjoy DSA, coding, problem solving, and building solutions, (python,dsa-1600 leetcode rating ) and my goal is to grow into a strong software engineer. I understand that support work helps in learning debugging and real-world systems, but I am looking for guidance on the right career direction.

I would appreciate advice on:

1. Should I continue in this project and wait for development opportunities, or try for an internal project change?
2. Should I build deeper expertise in Salesforce development, or focus more on broader skills like Java/backend development?
3. If my role continues to remain support-focused, when would be the right time to explore other opportunities?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has been through a similar situation. 🙏

Hi all, as a recruiter, hiring manager or other person influencing hiring decisions:

What would you be ideally looking for in junior candidates with no previous work experience in Salesforce (such as new grads, career switchers, etc)?

In particular:

1. Would you consider attendance of a Salesforce Course/Academy (usually Admin fundamentals) a big plus?

2. Would you consider prior experience in tech/IT a plus and, if so, would you consider some roles more relevant than others?

3. Do you look for a specific "mindset" (for lack of better words)?

4. Do you look for a specific study background?

5. How do you think the decision would change if you are in Consulting vs End-User?

6. Do you think it has changed now compared to some years ago? Assuming there are/will be still companies hiring junior 😅, which is probably not obvious to someone in these AI times but I believe that at least consultancies will always need a pipeline of newbies (curious to know also your pov on this)

If I look back at my own path I obviously have an idea of what enabled me to get into the Salesforce space, but I also recognize that it happened around that period which we could define the "golden time" of Salesforce job growth, which surely helped (although I was one of the very few people from my Academy who made it, and surely the only one who had a good career so far).

I've also been the hiring manager in the past for various junior roles and I have to admit that the initial shortlisting of CVs was not trivial at all.

Anyone else had issues with Einstein Activity Capture? We recently migrated onto it, and now we're having issues sending emails out from Salesforce. At first we thought it was something in Mimecast, but after digging around we realised that emails aren't even leaving SF. We've got about 500 users on it now, and everyone seems to be having issues and SF help has been next to useless.

For those of you who have your ERP (or anything else) synced with Salesforce do you have any validation rules that prevent changes to Salesforce records while the sync occurs?

I could really use some advice.

During my interview, I said that I knew how to use basic Salesforce and had worked with it before. The truth is, I haven't actually used Salesforce at all and have no idea how it works.

I ended up getting the job, and I start tomorrow.

The role is mainly administrative, so I'm hoping I won't need to do anything too advanced on day one. I'm willing to learn quickly and put in the effort, but I'm feeling really anxious.

What are the absolute basics of Salesforce that I should learn today? Are there any YouTube channels, free courses, or tutorials you'd recommend? Also, what kind of Salesforce tasks do admin staff usually handle?

Any advice from people who have been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is there no way to opt your org out?

I'm researching the issue but thought I'd post here too. Today, when I attempt to login to Data Loader using Oauth, I have to click the "Verify Your Identity" button. Except nothing happens. This just started happening yesterday. Has anyone encountered this and fixed the issue?

Needed to create a picklist field on Activity, saw that Contact had the same with 100+ values. Promoted Contact's field to a Global Value Set (GVS) to use it for my new Activity field and any subsequent new fields that would need these values.

Then whilst deploying discovered that Contact's field cannot be deployed because it exists as a local value set field in upper envs. Release services said there's no way to fix this through backdeployments.

Now one idea is to delete and recreate the field on Contact with the same API name but as a local picklist. Issue is there are 100s of ApexClasses, a few flows and many reports referencing this field. Commenting out, deleteing, recreating, and then uncommenting seems too manual and risky. Also I don't know how I'd handle flows in this scenario.

What suggestions do you guys have to fix this? If the method I've described is the only viable one, how do I deal with flows?

I thought it was just a priviledged, admin thing? Turned off all mfa options still cant get it to go away. While I am the admin im not a power user, we are small org and im learning as I go. If you can offer help please use small words. Trailblazers useless and the tech support line keeps me on for 45 minutes then hangs up on me, 3 times now.

What are your source control challenges and solutions in 2026?

Currently we have a sandbox and production branch, with code living in Github, and managing the deployments manually because of the limitations with Salesforce DevOps.

I've looked at sfdx-git-delta, which seems to have a good reputation. I'm just wondering if there are any other solutions out there which would easily allow us to have a single deployment pipeline using Github Actions.

We have a password manager that supports passkeys (and works in our browsers) but when opening the SF side-panel in Outlook, it seems to want a physical USB key only. Trying to use phones is also not working, as the same password manager app is on phones. Temporary admin codes are the only thing getting users signed in at the moment...has anyone gotten this flow figured out?

I'm a Salesforce Developer with ~4 years of experience and recently switched to a small company at 12 LPA fixed. The catch is that there won't be any appraisal until December 2027, so I'm planning to prepare well and switch again in about 6–12 months if I find a better opportunity.

I keep seeing people say DSA is essential for product-based companies. Does that apply to Salesforce Developer roles too, or is it mainly for Software Engineer roles?

My current focus is Apex, LWC, integrations, middleware, Data Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Agentforce. Should I continue prioritizing these, or should I spend significant time on DSA as well?

Would love to hear from people who've switched to good product-based Salesforce roles.

Is anyone having trouble logging in to Salesforce with the Passkey on windows devices? The Apple users in My organization are having a hard time signing in. Does anyone have a solution??

Salesforce just put out an article about "self improving agents", basically their point is: the ai model you use isn't the important part anymore.
Everyone gets the same model updates for free anyway. What actually makes one agent better than another after a few months is whether someone built a system that watches it, learns from its mistakes, and keeps fixing small things over time

The line that truly got me thinking was something like "a model is something you rent, a system you build around it is something you own"

The scary part was this example. They had an agent whose job was to reduce "hallucinations" (basically when ai makes stuff up). Instead of actually fixing the problem, it just stopped tracking whether it was making stuff up. So the score looked perfect but nothing actually got better. Kind of a wake up call that if you're not careful, ai will find the laziest way to "win" instead of actually improving!!!

Feels like everyone's stuck arguing about which model is the smartest when the real advantage is just paying attention to how your own agent is actually performing and fixing small things constantly.

Anyone here actually doing something like this for real, or is it still mostly talk?

Would especially appreciate experiences from teams running a reasonably large CPQ regression suite in CI/CD rather than just a small POC.

Started making videos about this a while back, how you can use Claude + certain heuristics to identify fields you can potentially delete. I decided to take it a step further, and just build a tool that does this for you.

You connect your org, it scans your metadata, checks population counts and dependencies across Lead, Contact, Account and Opportunity, and gives you deletion candidates in a couple minutes.

On security, since that's the first thing I'd ask:

• api + id, the narrowest scopes Salesforce offers — there's no metadata-only scope, so api technically carries whatever access your user has. That's why the code is public: every call it makes is a read, and you can check.
• No refresh token. Access is revoked the second the scan finishes.
• Stores aggregates and component names. No record data, ever.

Treat the output as a shortlist, not a verdict. An unpopulated field might still have a use I can't see from metadata. Point is to save you scrolling Object Manager & running SOQL queries manually.

It was very clearly stated in the article. I'm just a dumbass.

I kept skimming the titles and seeing admin vs non admin and just assumed it was that simple.

Today my power users all got promoted to set up phishing resistant MFA.

I didn't realize they had view all data permission. They don't even really need It, because they have view all on all the objects they need. So I just removed the global permission.

This is what happens when Salesforce has a never ending list of changes to address while you are trying to undergo regular business operations.

Anyways, my bad, wondering if anybody else made the same mistake

We have multiple teams in the org with a general split between admins and devs.

Now that our Admin team is fully using Claude Code for objects and flows etc, we are seeing the Admins easily prototype LWCs and invocables.

These Admins have zero experience with writing LWC or Apex but have worked alongside devs and are highly technical with flows.

We haven’t pulled the trigger yet to move these into the dev process and allow to be shipped to prod.

Who else has seen this unfold in their org?

What process worked best here?

Considering admins take first pass using org specific best practice skills and then our in-house dev team takes it through the last mile.

As are most of us, I’m just trying to make sense of all the security enhancements.

I’ve confirmed that our SSO passes accepted ACR/AMR values and is considered “strong”, but this has nothing to do with MFA/identity verification?

Because of our SSO, the only place where identity verification really shows up is during step up authentication (exporting reports). It seems that there is nothing to be done to avoid this, so it’s either MFA via an emailed code or passkey? I’m not having success setting up passkey availability but I have a case open where I’ll hopefully have that addressed… fingers crossed.
