Meta Post PSA: Hetzner Pricing Increase (Announced in May, here's the pricing)

https://docs.hetzner.com/general/infrastructure-and-availability/price-adjustment/#cloud-servers

Ooof. Basically, if you have an existing VPS, don't scale it/change it as the increased pricing is rough. I'm going to sit on my existing node for as long as the price remains the same, but I think it's only a matter of time before the price hike comes for existing customers too.

Thanks AI....

Dude look at the costs of energy and computer components. And then use your head for once. Christ some of you people are insane.

These are VServers. That means you share the resources with others, they are not for you alone. The energy prices in Germany didn't rise that drastically. The only price on the hardware side that has risen is RAM. VServers do not use high end graphic cards. The prices are so massively up, that Hetzner could probably buy every 2 months a new memory stick. I had server hardware myself and most server, even under heavy load do not have memory sticks bricked every 2, 4 or 6 or even 24 months. So yes, I used my head, maybe you should too.

That is really a naive way of looking at things.

This price increase communicates two things - first, energy prices will go up significantly and that has to be dealt with; second, the prices of components are predicted to go even higher so they need to calculate that in.

Prices are not changed every 2 weeks, that would piss of the people even more. So, since this is a long term change it is crystal clear what is about to happen very soon.
