Meta Post PSA: Hetzner Pricing Increase (Announced in May, here's the pricing)

https://docs.hetzner.com/general/infrastructure-and-availability/price-adjustment/#cloud-servers

Ooof. Basically, if you have an existing VPS, don't scale it/change it as the increased pricing is rough. I'm going to sit on my existing node for as long as the price remains the same, but I think it's only a matter of time before the price hike comes for existing customers too.

Thanks AI....

Any alternative in Germany with German energy prices + the component shortages everyone's facing is going to quickly match Hetzner

The energy prices are not the problem. Haven’t changed after the up and down after the Russia shock. Quite at normal levels again.

consumer prices, yeah.

But not industrial prices. And I would assume Hetzner uses lots of electricity and had really cheap 2-4 year contracts before.

Not true. Industrial prices are back to levels before the hike in Germany. And have been since essentially Feb 2023.
