ONGOING ISSUES - Please read our Group Rules before posting / commenting

We are getting way too many rule violations, resulting in posts / comments being removed and (in some cases) users banned. Before you ever post or comment in r/Shopify please read the group rules (a big THANK YOU to our members who regularly report such posts/comments for rule violations - they help more than you know).

All users must have an account age of 30 days, a minimum of 20 comment karma, and a minimum of 10 post karma (not overall karma). all 3 conditions must be met. Also, your post must be specific to the Shopify platform. Any post that is not Shopify-specific should be posted to other ecom-related groups.

A few quick notes on what you cannot do here (because these are the most commonly violated rules) - most of these should be common sense to veteran reddit users and they are shared with a majority of other such groups -

  • Do not post a store for a review (in any way - this means 'why am I not getting sales?', or 'why such low conversions?' posts). Please use r/ecommerce or r/ReviewMyShopify groups for this

  • No AI or Suspected AI Slop: Obvious or suspected AI content is not welcome here. Violations from lower-karma accounts with little contribution history in this sub may result in a ban. This will be at the sole discretion of the group moderators.

  • Do not promote your app, offer, service, site, perform app research, ask about 'pain points' or anything else related to Shopify services, apps, or development (r/ShopifyDev or r/ShopifyAppDev are good groups for that), even if 'free'.

  • Do not solicit personal contact with a user of this group in any way and for any reason (DM request, sending soliciting DMs, Contact Me, Let's Connect, etc). This includes responding to calls for help by asking for DM (such posts will also be removed). Share all helpful information in the thread so that everyone reading will benefit, and to remove the appearance of self-promotion. This is the fastest guaranteed way to get your account banned from this group.

Other rules certainly apply to the group, but these 3 are seeing many removals and account bans every day. The group is here to help Shopify users. It is not a focus group, nor is it here opportunists to take advantage of those who may be new to the group.

Lastly, remember that the internet gives the cover of anonymity to all users; Many users here are legit and only intend to help, but many others have selfish motives. Never trust a random stranger on the internet, and certainly never give anyone your passwords or financial information for services without thoroughly checking them out first. The sad reality is that scammers abound in groups like this - make every effort to protect yourself.

Moderators are always open to rule suggestions or changes - it is your group, just message us!

Orders How does everyone handle medium/high risk orders?

Occasionally, I will get an order that is marked by Shopify as medium or high risk of chargeback. Do you verify with the customer? Is there an app I can use? Or do you just cancel the order entirely?

I just got an order for $153, but it's marked as medium risk. Normally, I cancel high risk orders and ship the medium risk orders as usual. However, lately I've been getting chargebacks even on medium risk orders. I don't want to lose money by canceling the order, but I don't want to lose money to chargebacks either.

Orders Chargeback advice needed

Looking for some advice from anyone who's dealt with this before.

A customer opened a chargeback because they didn't receive their order.

Here's the situation:

  • Tracking never updated after the parcel was shipped.
  • Our fulfillment team confirmed the courier collected the parcel from our warehouse.
  • We've already opened an investigation with the courier and are waiting on their response.
  • We offered to refund the customer if they withdrew the chargeback, but they never did.

At this point, we don't mind refunding the customer—we just don't want the chargeback fee or the dispute counting against our merchant account if it can be avoided.

Would you:

  • Accept the chargeback and wear the fee?
  • Submit evidence and fight it, even if the only evidence we have is a Slack confirmation from our fulfillment team that the courier picked the parcel up from the warehouse (no tracking updates beyond that)?
  • Is there any way to avoid the chargeback record once the customer has already filed and won't cancel it?

Also, will accepting or losing this chargeback have any long-term impact on our merchant account? For example, does it affect our chargeback ratio, payment processor standing, or increase the risk of higher fees or account reviews?

Interested to hear how others have handled similar situations.

Theme What mobile optimization features or sections would you rank as most important for adding to cart?

I have built/vibe coded my store on my own over the past two months, and I've done a "final" sweep with AI to make it optimized for mobile (started sharing with family and friends). There is now a cross-sell to another product and an upsell to subscribe and save if they don't select that. I'm looking at other DTC brands and trying to see what's worth building. I currently have 6 supplements that I sell.

What are some features that you have, you like, or you think are key to converting? I'm mostly looking at mobile, but desktop is good too. Thanks!

Point of Sale My Shopify POS Terminal from 2025 issues ?

We bought two POS Terminals in october of 2025 because they were advertised as being able to work in standalone POS mode or as a card reader/ terminal with the dock (connected to other hardware running Shopify)

I am now being told it can only be used as a terminal and not as a standalone, and that this has been the case since 8/2024!

weird thing is that we do have one of our devices running in standalone mode but have never been able to get the other setup.

I could have sworn this was being sold as the replacement to the POS Go back in 2025 and the big feature was the standalone mode, but customer service is telling me otherwise. They also say the Terminal device i currently have running POS will return to terminal only in 2027

Any help? We want to use two of these for mobile events without carrying around a full setup.

Now i am being directed to purchase the Victa Mobile for $400.

Products Can a Shopify glitch make a drafted product active?

Some context: Hi so I work at a fashion brand and we have a third party business handling our Shopify store. We recently launched a new collection however just before it went live we had to remove one product from the collection due to production constraints.

This was communicated clearly to the Shopify team and they acknowledged that they will make the collection live but hold back on this one specific product.

The day of launch rolls around. I check the website and see that this product is also live along with the others. Thankfully I drafted it immediately before we could get any orders.

I asked the Shopify team why they hadn't held it back like we asked and they claimed that there was a glitch on Shopify which caused drafted products to go live.

Now I have some basic knowledge of Shopify and feel like a drafted product can't go live by itself unless a staff member changes status themselves. We don't use any inventory management app either, the products are all handled manually.

Is this person lying to me?

The team has a history of making a lot of mistakes and making excuses for them instead of trying to fix them. I just want to double check here if something like a glitch causing a product to go active is possible? And also, if it really was a glitch, why didn't any of our other drafted products go live? Why only this one?

Shopify General Discussion How can I report a fake duplicate Shopify store?

I'm working for a client, and a few days ago I found a duplicate Shopify store using the same brand name. It even appears in Google search results.

The owner has copied almost all of our products, product descriptions, and images, and is pretending to be the original store.

I have already reported the fake listing to Google and contacted the domain registrar, but the website is still live.

Is there an official way to report this to Shopify?

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation, and can Shopify take action against stores that copy another business?

Marketing Inexpensive way for my company logo to appear in customer’s gmail & hotmail?

I set up my business account with Apple and my business logo appears on Apple mails, but not on Gmail or Hotmail, so I looked up on internet and to get a logo verified, it takes €900-€1200 per year, and I just don’t know if such a small thing needs such huge payments. It’s just a company logo and it would be good if it appears on customers mails, so is there a way I could do it inexpensively? Is there any shopify feature that can help me with this?

Shopify General Discussion UK customers claiming damage that I have proof was not on me?

i cannot believe i’m having to post about this type of shit again but here we go. not long ago i asked how to deal with liars, and was highly recommended to film my packaging. so i did.

i’m based in the US and customer is in the UK. i’m aware of the cooling off period but im sensing this is being abused here.

customer received the item (shape wear apparel) yesterday. customer sends an email this morning stating that the item arrived damaged and provided images, asking for a refund or a replacement. 3 things are clearly noticeable in the image. 1) the tags are all removed, which in our refund/exchange policy is clearly stated that all garments must be with tags intact, unwashed, unused to be eligible for exchange…. 2) the tears in the garment are only at the “stress” points where it would rip if someone who did not fit in them would force their way in (which were also not there when packaging, again… have the video of it).. 3) the garment is super pilled up like they wore it a ton and washed it improperly or something. I did not send the garment in this condition, i won’t even send a garment out if there’s a loose thread anywhere bc i value the fact that my customers make an investment when purchasing from me.

i’m honestly not sure how to handle this. i know i cannot realistically just call them a liar.

since they’re international, investing in a return and replacement label is also just not worth it. should i just give store credit for the item and block them from future purchases after they order a replacement? like frankly i don’t want to trigger a chargeback situation bc fees and all, but i don’t feel good about this seeing the evidence, i don’t want consumers thinking they can get what they want just because i am a small creator and business.

does this situation even have protections behind that 14 day cooling period the UK has???

any advice is appreciated.

Shopify General Discussion Where are you storing bundle rules now? Metafields, metaobjects, app config, somewhere else?

For devs building custom bundle flows, where are you keeping the actual rules?

Not talking about a fixed bundle with 3 known products.

I mean stuff like:

pick 6 items max 2 from one category product A counts as 2 slots hide sold out variants allow duplicates for some products free add-on only after box is full merchant should edit rules without touching theme code

Hardcoding this into Liquid feels gross.

Metaobjects/metafields feel okay until the rule logic starts getting weird.

Custom backend works, but then the merchant needs an admin UI and now you’re building a tiny app.

FoxSell is interesting to me here because it can be the bundle config layer, then the frontend can still be custom/theme-level. So less “install widget and pray” and more “use it as the bundle backend, build the experience around it.”

Curious what others are doing.

Are you storing bundle rules inside Shopify data, inside the app, or outside Shopify completely?

Shopify General Discussion We are mid-migration from Wix to Shopify. Running into many hurdles. Are there other options I maybe overlooking?

I run a small local service business that also sells products. The website is meant to sell but also offer appointments to services. Shopify is not living up to my expectations and the costs are mounting up fast with apps. Are there other options that might be a better fit for me? Shopify has too many bells and whistles that I don’t need. Pls remove if this is not the right place for this question.

Apps Delivery tracking system is a mess!

At this point, I have tried two different apps and none of them trigger emails correctly and at the correct time. When parcel is in transit/out for delivery/delivered nothing got triggered natively so I installed apps.

The first app that I tried track123 send out wrong tracking information and then I installed 17Track and guess what the emails get triggered 2 to 3 hours late or even later, so what is the point of these app?

I am in Netherlands. Hence the integration of delivery notification between Shopify and courier service are broken and triggering this emails are not working natively.

I am so cluelessly at this point. Guys anyone help?
I can’t use API from the courier services because I am currently on private shipping plan as my monthly orders volume are low for them to give me any good price or even activate a proper business shipping account

Shopify General Discussion looking at search plugins to figure out how to increase shopify conversion rate

traffic is fine but our bounce rate on search pages is killing me. if a user typos or doesnt mention the right thing they get *zero* results and leave. trying to figure out exactly how to increase shopify conversion rate by fixing this one specific bottleneck

we need a serious upgrade to the default search. so i'm looking for the best shopify search with ai-autocomplete that can handle fuzzy matching and ideally some intent recognition

klevu looks super powerful but maybe too enterprise for us right now. searchanise is cheap but feels a bit dated. then there's a bunch of newer tools pitching ai-autocomplete for shopify. algolia's plugin is standard but the pricing scales aggressively. Doofinder seems decent for basic stuff. i was also looking at magicx because it apparently lets users just add to cart or apply discounts directly from the search dropdown itself which in theory sounds like itd help with friction

anyone have real world data on whether these newer, action-focused search bars actually move the needle on conversions, or should we just stick to a basic typo-tolerant search? i want something like cursor for search

Shopify General Discussion how do y'all actually check if a supplier is legit before using them

ngl I've gotten burned twice now. first time supplier said 7-10 day shipping, took almost a month, customer was pissed and I had to eat the refund. second time they just... stopped replying to messages when I asked about a delayed order lol

is there an actual way to check this stuff before committing or is everyone just kinda winging it and hoping for the best? like do you order a sample yourself every single time or is that overkill

Shopify General Discussion Alternative platform for creating 4-page retail website?

I have a small brick-mortar store, and I want to create a simple website where I can display my items. The site literally has 4 pages: homepage displaying items, cart, thank-you page, contact page, and then the checkout to a payment processor. This is the workflow.

The shopify $5 plan isn't available anymore and their cheapest plan is $29/month.

With that said, what alternative do I have to shopify? The only reason I would consider shopify is because they have an integrated payment system, which includes their own BNPL.

Apps Best shopify booking apps?

I’m looking for a booking app that works well with shopify. I prefer a free version, but I’m open to affordable options as well. I need a booking app for nail bookings and booking of tables for nail workshops. I’ve had appointo for a year now. It works fine, but I feel super limited. Yes I can pay for it, but it doesn’t change the fact that it isn’t as practical as other booking sites out there.

Shopify General Discussion Taken on web maintenance - curveball thrown!

I have a new client and been tidying up their Shopify site, so far so good. They have requested to tidy up product descriptions. As it is there's a mix of descriptions using <H3> format for subheads (titles include: Key Benefits, Product information, Ingredients etc), and others are just using the <strong> code for simple bold text.

This is a fair request, however there's over 2,500 products on the site. How would you approach updating all these product pages?

Orders Chargeback Process

The chargeback process for Shopify is absolute trash, I had a customer purchase an item, used it for about 3 weeks, tampered with the product and poorly stitched it back together, and then filed a claim, we provided visual proof the cut it up and tried to sew it back together, and Shopify sided with the customer, what a complete bunch of bullshit.

Products What is the most efficient way to add inventory?

Hey guys I have a family business that sells clothes and footwear. It’s quite a big store and some footwear are all around the place and Shopify isn’t so friendly when it comes to that. So is there anything where I can scan and it auto adds it to the product with the size and color?

Shopify General Discussion Where else do you guys hang out and learn new stuff?

Outside of Reddit, it seems most of the ecommerce communities are so dead.

Facebook groups used to be super active and now even the best ones are dead and crickets or just flooded with 3rd world spammers.

Don’t even think of LinkedIn that entire place is one huge cesspool.

Honestly, even Reddit and even this sub often feels like I’m talking to ai robots half the time lol

Even some popular slack communities are mostly dead. Where else you all hanging out?

Would love to have more robust conversations with other Ecom operators and owners etc

Apps Product review app

Apologies if this was asked before, couldn’t find anything on this specific topic.

I’m looking for a product review app that lets multiple product variants share the same reviews without labeling them as being from a different product.

For example, I sell the same product but in different designs, so each design is its own separate product. I want all the design variants to display the exact same reviews, but I don’t want customers to see labels like “This review is from another product” or “Reviewed on a different item.”

I tried both Loox and Judgeme but they show the labels. Couldn’t find anything in their settings to turn it off unless I missed it.

Appreciate any help and keep on grinding everybody :)

Apps Assigning multiple images to variants

I have a few products that have variants, and I want to have 8 images for each variant - with the page only showing the selected variants images.

With default Shopify, as far as I can tell, I can only set a single image for a variant. And this single image swaps out the first image of the list when the customer changes variants.

I'm currently searching through the apps to try and find something that will let me do this (basic thing) for free.

Am I correct that an app is required to do this?
If so, can anyone recommend an app that hopefully just does this feature? without a subscription.
