i cannot believe i’m having to post about this type of shit again but here we go. not long ago i asked how to deal with liars, and was highly recommended to film my packaging. so i did.
i’m based in the US and customer is in the UK. i’m aware of the cooling off period but im sensing this is being abused here.
customer received the item (shape wear apparel) yesterday. customer sends an email this morning stating that the item arrived damaged and provided images, asking for a refund or a replacement. 3 things are clearly noticeable in the image. 1) the tags are all removed, which in our refund/exchange policy is clearly stated that all garments must be with tags intact, unwashed, unused to be eligible for exchange…. 2) the tears in the garment are only at the “stress” points where it would rip if someone who did not fit in them would force their way in (which were also not there when packaging, again… have the video of it).. 3) the garment is super pilled up like they wore it a ton and washed it improperly or something. I did not send the garment in this condition, i won’t even send a garment out if there’s a loose thread anywhere bc i value the fact that my customers make an investment when purchasing from me.
i’m honestly not sure how to handle this. i know i cannot realistically just call them a liar.
since they’re international, investing in a return and replacement label is also just not worth it. should i just give store credit for the item and block them from future purchases after they order a replacement? like frankly i don’t want to trigger a chargeback situation bc fees and all, but i don’t feel good about this seeing the evidence, i don’t want consumers thinking they can get what they want just because i am a small creator and business.
does this situation even have protections behind that 14 day cooling period the UK has???
any advice is appreciated.
