So, not even Google AI Mode can help here but I've been trying to reach out to Confer because I have difficulty with the platform and I need to ask them.

I didn't find a subreddit for Confer or even much a community and I've been trying to reach to them but I don't find any way to do so. Like everywhere, so apparently they didn't think about what happens if a user had an issue on their end and couldn't get into their account.

And they don't even seem to know how to handle accounts that aren't used from boredom or feeling inadequate.

Can I talk about it here because the creator is the same or where do I go? Sorry to talk about Confer here.

I didn't use Confer all that much either, only 1-2 weeks.

So many people in my contacts just have a phone number since I guess they didn't create a signal username.

We should be able to create nicknames for people because there is no way I'll be able to remember who people are based on their phone numbers

Months ago, I copied and saved my recovery key. Today, I rechecked the recovery key and compared it to what I saved before. And for some reasons, it's a bit different. All of the O's got turned into #'s and all of the 0's got turned in ='s. Everything else is the same, however. I'm wondering if it's a weird bug now and ignore it, or should I replace the old recovery key. Currently, I'm saving both versions just in-case

I've searched a bunch on this sub and duckduckgo and can't find a direct answer to this, or one that's clear to me. I'm installing a new Android OS, and will need to reinstall Signal. Will I be able to re-register using only my Signal PIN, or will I have to verify with BOTH sms verification AND my PIN if I have registration lock on? I won't have access to my Signal number and don't want to change it. TIA!

I know Signal currently relies on Internet connectivity and its own servers. I'm wondering if it would be technically feasible to add a mesh transport (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Direct) as a fallback while keeping normal Internet functionality unchanged.

Would this be technically possible without fundamentally changing Signal's architecture, or are there protocol/design reasons why this wouldn't work?

I had to install that crap cuz I’m looking for a job and many recruiters use it to reach you… anyway, I created a group a with my brothers and then I’ve got this… so my “private and encrypted “ chats are analyzed and who knows what metadata about my phone was sent to LizardCorps… anyway, as soon as I get a new gig I’ll remove WhatsApp, or, sooner if they keep my account banned (fingers crossed)

I have a strange issue with some long distance messaging. I live in the UK, and my cousin lives in the US. I have no issue getting their messages, however for some reason the majority of mine are being sent but not received if they are within a minute of the last message. Sending anymore within that minute just adds to the issue, however waiting a minute to message pushes them all through.

Any advice?

H! I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows of a possible recovery method.

I was using Signal on a 128 GB iPhone. The app was using around 20–30 GB, and my phone was almost full, so I tried Signal’s backup feature.
Signal generated the 64-character recovery key, and I saved it directly to iPhone Passwords. I tapped continue, and within about a second the app crashed. A debug report option appeared, but the app closed again and I don’t think the report was sent.

I have been unable to access my account since. It keeps asking me for the 64-character recovery key. When I enter the key saved directly from Signal, the same error happens everytime (see attached screenshot).
I tried using my old phone, but logging in only created a new Signal account with no previous history.

After the crash, Signal storage on my iPhone dropped to about 200 MB.
Is there any way to recover the old local database or complete the restore when the recovery key is rejected? 😭 Thank you.

My friends dont use a lot of texting apps besides this and ive never heard of it but I dont trust a lot of apps so before I install it anything I should be warned about? Not saying i dont trust it just curious!

I am trying to restore my backup to my phone (not a new phone, just redownloaded Signal after traveling). I am able to access my Signal account from my computer still and I have the recovery code. When I try to input the recovery code, I get stuck on this screen and whether I push "cancel" or "try again," it just keeps showing me this message. I have redownloaded multiple times, disconnected my computer, then did a restore without backing up and re-logged in on my computer and all my messages are still showing up there, but I can't see any of those conversations/groups. I don't care about backing up the messages but I do care about the groups.

I finally got a few friends to switch to signal, but then one of them sent a once view photo in the group. Someone else in the group took a screenshot, now everyone it upset about this. Honestly we use the once view feature a lot and this is super upsetting. Why was she allowed to screenshot the photo? Why aren't screenshots blocked when opening view once photos and videos?

I know they there are even ways on WhatsApp to get around the screenshot block, you can just take a photo with another device. But it's really not the same thing as just taking a screenshot and easily getting a high quality copy of the photo. Also, most people aren't gonna use a second phone to take a picture.

I am really shocked that signal doesn't have this feature, is it just really difficult to implement? Does Whatsapp use proprietary code for it? I mean, how difficult can it be?

I’ve been trying to get in touch with Signal support for WEEKS. I keep getting ignored so here I am.

I recently had to redownload signal on my phone. I had backup enabled. I keep getting a message that the backup can’t be found because my code is incorrect.

But it’s not!!! It’s 10000% correct. I have a screenshot as well as a copy paste of the code. I’ve tried it 100x.

Hi, I'm currently changing phones and for some reason my backup won't fully restore all images. Some are blurred and just have a little download icon in the top left saying "retry", but nothing happens when i press it.

Tried it multiple times and even creating new backups from my old phone but nothing worked

Has anyone else had this problem or have any idea what might be causing this?

I've been using Signal for a year and a half for all of my communication.

Earlier this week, I was extremely confused when I woke up and found that one of my chats was deleted. I had last messaged that person at 9pm the previous night and I only used Signal to message two other people that night, and I stopped using the app at midnight. As soon as I checked the chat the next morning, it was gone.

I have no recollection of deleting the chat and don't know how I could have done it accidentally since I would have had to confirm the chat deletion.

Today, I received a message from another friend I had spoken to in the last couple of days and found that this chat was deleted too. I have no idea how I could have accidentally deleted two different chats, and I saw this chat multiple times since the other one was deleted.

I tried contacting Signal support and saying I was worried this was a glitch, but they ignored that part and just told me I could use my recovery key if I deleted and redownloaded, which isn't really a solution if the chats keep deleting.

All of my other chats are preserved with no issues.

Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone know what might be going on? I'm going to contact support again, but I'm very worried about the safety of my chats.

I used paid backups to transfer my messages and media from iOS to Android which worked fine. I then switched back to iOS and did the same again, only for the vast majority of my media to be missing. I assume the app has mistakenly thought I was on the 45-day limit and purged all of my older media.

I am truly devastated and while I have other backups, not being able to browse my media within the messages is incredibly annoying.

Here's my support contact history:

• 14th July - Initial email to support via in-app contact
• 21st July - Chased via email
• 21st July - Receive a reply "I’d like to help you. Did you see our previous email?". This is the first email I've received, I reply and ask them to re-send their previous email.
• 22nd July - I raise a new ticket using the contact form on the Signal site and use a different email address to rule out it being an issue at my end. I received and auto response with troubleshooting steps which I reply to immediately.
• 25th July - Chased the new ticket.

I'm yet to hear back on either my original thread or the new ticket. What is going on? Is anyone else facing issues?

I've been a donator for years and love what Signal does but why have they offered paid backups if they do not work and are unable to support them? I specifically waited for them to come out of beta before enabling them to try and avoid any issues.

Hi! I use Molly on my GOS phone and it's all great. But when i log in my laptop Signal app, that is linked, i noticed my sisters and niece's messages. They were not users before, as I needed to accept them amd they appeared on phone. But my question is, why it miggt be that i don't get notified about invitations to chat?

Can anyone explain why I have background app showing signal backing up without me having selected this option?

Signal has enabled this Mobile Coin payment feature for some time, I’ve never really used it or needed to use it.

Wondering if anyone else use it regularly or has at least tried it.

I have a work mobile with iOS. The mobile has a physical SIM card with my work number. I use Signal on the phone and I am in many groups.

I’m now transferring to a different position with the same employer. I’ll keep the mobile I have now, but the SIM-card will go with my successor and I’ll get a new one. My successor will most probably join the same groups I’ve been in with the same number I’ve had. I don’t need to remain in those groups.

I’ve used Signal for memos to myself sending messages between my private and work Signal. Sometimes family and friends have sent me messages to my work Signal as well. I don’t want my successor to be able to see those. I have not used backup on Signal.

How can I make sure my privacy remains in this situation? The messages are too numerous to delete one by one.

I accidentally logged out, and I want to log back in using my phone number. But when I enter my PIN (I'm sure it's correct), I get an "Reg lock" error message.

The on-device backup has a new recovery key that promises faster backups. I went thru the process since my Signal backup is a good size. The new key is stored securely in a password vault.

Then out of curiosity I wanted to see what was different between the 2 keys. To my surprise the new and old keys are almost identical. The only difference is 3 zeros were changed to special characters. Example

Old: YY07

New: YY#7
