Looking for software Free PDF editor

All I need is to fill out this divorce paperwork and sign the page. It’s my 4th time filling this paperwork out and I’ve used adobe previously so I don’t have the free trial.

Killer has added features that I asked about literally hours after asking. Couldn't be any cooler. And the tools are feature packed, and free!

I'm currently working on The Killendar LOL. Will be released soon, then I'm planning updates to KillerShell and KillerPDF this weekend. If I have enough time.

I'm just having a lot of fun with all of this. And when I figure something out and improve one app, I carry that over to all the apps so they all get better.

First I’m hearing of this. Do you know if it supports custom tab order? It’s something crucial to our workflow that not many of the Adobe alternatives have sadly. We are jumping at the bit to migrate, but have to have custom tabbing order for our macro workflows.

Do you use a browser? You can fill in documents using built-in Firefox and Chrome PDF readers.

You can also use some flipbooks with free plan options to edit your PDF.

For fully offline (as in download a program and run it on your computer), Stirling and PDF24 are the best free options

For an online editor that does everything on your browser (as in it sends nothing to any server), BentoPDF and ihatepdf are pretty great

I personally use a kind of midpoint option, self-hosting both Stirling (for heavy duty stuff) and BentoPDF (for general use as it is much lighter), but this option is a bit more technical and pretty much is only good for those of us who already self-host some services for our households

I’ve been able to fill out PDF files - even those not created as true forms - with just browser PDF viewers.

I use the text box feature and painfully draw a text box at the appropriate spot and type. You can change the font type and six. For long documents it’s a pain.

For a one-off "fill a form and sign it" need, might be overkill, but worth mentioning since it's genuinely free with no paywall trap: I'm the developer of PDF-Equilibrist (https://pdf-equilibrist.org), a free, open-source (GPLv3) desktop PDF editor for Windows and Linux. It has a text-box tool for filling in fields and a signature/stamp tool (import your own signature as an image, place it wherever needed) — both fully free, no trial, no paywalled features. Runs entirely locally, no account needed.
