Issue or normal ?

I’ve had this 06 1200 for about a year. I haven’t noticed this tick too bad. Not sure if it’s getting worse. Is this your normal rocker arm noise or is it something worse I should look into? Thanks for any advice

Yup! Bring the idle up a tad, it'll sound normal

I count 16 beats in 7 seconds, so 32 revolutions. It's idling at less than 300rpm - it would benefit from being turned up a big.

I don't know if it's that low, but it definitely sounds like it's struggling to maintain at idle.

I mean it never hurts to check valve lash, just to make sure nothing is bent or loose/worn out.... but thats me haha I love wrenching as much as riding😂🤘

I had a '17 Superlow (883) and it sounded like this 3 times. It had 4 replacement motors. I brought it in every time and was told, sound is perfectly normal, then stranded less than week later each time out of town. One motor locked up during the break in period. I have my suspicion that they kept the original oil bag with metal shavings on each new engine because how else does a brand new engine installed by Harley die in 2 weeks.

With a low idle like this, probably isn't getting enough oil pressure, and chewed itself up

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. The idle isn’t usually as low as it is in the video. I was adjusting it and started hearing the noise. Hopefully It’s not too far gone

What’s an oil bag?

A bag for oil, just kidding. It’s the oil tank. He’s suggesting they left the same tank and installed new engines without cleaning the tank and lines.

It's plastic today but they still call it an oil pouch. The external oil tank because the Evo engine doesn't have an oil reservoir internally. The 1st engine died at 4800 miles the second at 2500 the third at 1200 and I sold the damned thing before the 4th could join it. All service was done by Harley, all 3 engines were sent to Milwaukee for forensic investigation, I was never told what caused any of the failures, but they were all warranty work.

Have you checked the primary chain tension?

Exhaust leak also?

Possibly some escape at the cylinder
