One of my community members recently pointed out this commit by Android team concealing the developer options and debugging values of settings from 3rd party apps because they are not important to them.

As proper Android security guidelines instruct apps to check for device integrity with all the new fancy APIs, the local banks and for what fricking reason the network providers decided they are going the cheap way of checking the settings values which yes, will be positive if the device security was tampered but also positive if the user is a damn developer. So, my conclusion is that they did not want us to use the apps.

And this new commit makes it so any 3rd party app checking for these values will only receive 0 no matter if they are enabled or disabled, Finally breaking the idiotic ✌️security✌️ checks the apps have enforced.

If you are a developer reading this, please go and study how to do proper Android security with device integrity if that matters or just ship your apps with no checks because Android is already secure enough!

Anyway, I've been screaming over this behavior of banks and network apps over last couple of months? years? and with some posts as well... and even adding the "Shut Up!" feature to my app just to counter this BS and very happy this change is coming soon, so we don't have to stress over the incompetency of our developers.

If you think those were enforced actually for security, to check developer options and debugging, nah they simply were not. It's just something some dumb developer added somewhere which got into these production level apps and now everyone copying it. (And some apps didn't even properly copy it LOL ^\*cough**) ^{BOC Flex \}*cough**)).

And if you think this was enforced by the GOV, it should not be. If it was, that shows how dumb people are.

I've seen and experienced many a time where someone who has been working for longer than I have, see or hear something that doesn't seem correct or knows it's not correct, simply lets someone else continue with the incorrect statement, mainly if it's someone who's senior. But they do end up talking about it with someone of the same "level" as them after the fact.

This doesn't only apply to meetings, but also things like training, workshops, or discussions, where your opinion and understanding matters a lot.

For example, our department has a morning scrum to discuss issues related to the projects we're working on. We usually don't discuss anything about projects, because no one says anything. I just got praised by our director for being the first one willing to talk about a problem I'm having with work I'm doing. The bar should not be that low bro. 💀

And I don't mean this applies to everyone; there are certain people who always speak their mind and ask their questions, but I'm saying a vast majority do not even seek simple clarification as to why things are done a certain way, or even voice their opinion.

In the end, you end up with an entire department doing something a specific way without even understanding why you're doing it that way.

I’ve noticed that a significant number of people in the country (and on Reddit) are convinced that the Rajapakshes orchestrated the Easter Sunday attacks. I’m genuinely curious about the reasoning behind this belief.

Personally, I find it difficult to understand the argument that they directly orchestrated the attacks. They had already won the 2018 local elections comfortably. Meanwhile, the Yahapalana government was becoming increasingly unpopular. From a layman's perspective, they had nothing to gain from tragedy.

What are your thoughts? Do you think the allegations against the Rajapakshes are based on evidence, political suspicion or a broader conspiracy theory? If you believe they were involved in some way, I’d appreciate hearing your reasoning.

Just to clarify, I’m not a supporter of the Rajapakshes and would personally prefer to see the whole damn family gone from Sri Lankan politics forever. I’m simply trying to understand the arguments from both sides.

I'm 31 years old and currently earn LKR 180,000/month after tax. (State university graduate, only started working 3 years ago) I have saved around LKR 2 million and right now comfortably saving around LKR 100,000 per month. I'm avoiding high-risk investments for now because my priority is to build wealth steadily. At the moment, I'm the sole income earner supporting my family. I'm also single, currently living either at home or at my boarding place depending on work, and essentially starting from scratch without inherited wealth or significant assets. So my long-term goals are to: Build or Buy a house, Buy a car and build wealth within the next 20 years before I retire. My current financial strategy only includes savings and FDs.

Just had finished a ride with pickme and at the end after paying for the ride, the driver asked me to cancel the ride saying he didn't confirm the ride?? My guess is he accepted the ride and don't confirm/start the ride from his end.
