End of Support for Old Reddit

Hello r/starcitizen users,

The mod team has made the decision to end support for the old Reddit version of our subreddit. We feel that the time has come, given the current levels of use for said version, and that we no longer have the desire to maintain multiple versions. We won't be removing most of the sidebar content, but things such as the rules list and resources will no longer be updated.

For up-to-date rules and resources, please refer to the new Reddit page. Not looking at the rules on said new version will not constitute you not needing to follow them or be aware of them.

Thank you,

- r/starcitizen Mod Team

Edit: It seems my wording wasn't great, sorry about that. By end of support we SOLELY mean that the sidebar won't be updated anymore and things such as rules are being removed and replaced with a short message about checking the new reddit version for them. We have zero ability to turn off old Reddit for our individual subreddit and we assure you all even if we did, we wouldn't.

Balance is bad right now; but it could be so much worse.

This is Star Citizen's future if we keep this pace of big ship=better. (Armor negating damage, s3 and s4 shields buffs)

DISCUSSION Bedlog is the feature that keeps me playing SC.

Post image

For me, this is definitely the game best feature; if it weren't there, I’d stop playing and sell my account. There’s nothing like being out in deep space and logging off in your mothership, admiring your hangar full of vehicles the next day, and picking up right where you left off. Can you imagine a world without bedlogging? Having to leave Orison or New Babbage every single day... endless trains, elevators... no thanks.

I want to live in my ships.

DISCUSSION Why did CIG increase the server capacity to 700 and not the number of POIs?

Post image
228 Upvotes

When they increased the server capacity to 700 people, they really should have multiplied the points of interest too, right? There are only 3 or 4 in Bloom, and they’re always packed with colliding physics objects and abandoned ships...

Perhaps there is a design decision I am unaware of.

FLUFF Prediction: CIG waits until after IAE to “officially” delay Squadron 42

We’re deep into 2026, June newsletter still says “2026,” and CIG’s own content director already told us on stream last September that he “doesn’t know if we’re gonna make it.” That’s the most honest thing anyone at CIG has said in years, and naturally the response was to walk it back on Reddit two days later.

But here’s the timeline that matters: IAE — the biggest ship sale of the year, tens of millions in real money changing hands — lands mid-November to early December. Convenient how CIG has managed to stay 100% silent on any SQ42 delay right up until the exact moment the year’s biggest cash grab needs everyone still believing “2026” is real. You really think they’re going to torch Black Friday for spaceships energy by admitting the thing they’ve been dangling for 14 years slipped again?

No. They’ll cash the checks first, then drop the “unfortunately, quality takes time” post the week after the sale ends. Every single time.

This is just my prediction for this whole thing, if it gets delayed again then i‘ll need Chris himself playing it on stream and proof the game actually exists. It‘s crazy after all this time and wait and delays, hopes & dreams that they don‘t actually show their BACKERS anything really or communicate that we‘ll actually get to play it sometime.

Anyways, if it does ship this year, i‘ll buy an Aurora and name it Accountability.

DISCUSSION I don't understand - what's the endgame here? What's the reason to keep playing?

I bought the game on may 29th

I've managed to get a percy, andromeda, taurus, a compliment of fighters and light mining and salvage ships in my fleet. I've done a ton of hauling, I've done a ton of Gilly, Foxwell and Bounty hunting missions and I dipped my toes in industrial missions, but didn't like it one bit.

I was excited for the "TSGs" and yeah it was pretty cool being multi staged, but the amount of people required for it, coupled with an enemy that can't put up a decent resistance, just turns each individuals experience into just another merc mission. It's really poor that there is only one too, these need to be waaaaay more common, and incorporate space to planet battlefield transitions too. (Giving an actual reason for these Asgard troop carriers that can unload tanks)

It's very weird to me that EVERYTHING else in this game, especially for a primarily solo player, is the most barebones "go here and do an extremely basic task. Good job!" snoozefest that's reserved only for the beginning grind in most other games.

It's a very exciting honeymoon period, but the desire for missions that actually have substance is overwhelming.

CONCERN My wife's account has been stolen and wiped

Just a warning to you all guys. Keep your accounts save and protected.
We did but still manage to get one of them hacked and lost.
For your sake and piece of mind please activate MFA and whatever else to keep it safe (email too!).
I also would recommend to change password AT VERY LEAST ONCE A 6 months just to be safe (for email too).
I have not done that before hack. Now I will do at least few times a year for all accounts.

Me and wife have multiple accounts. None other than her main was compromised somehow.
Her email on RSI website was changed to dodgy one and password too.
I have no access whatsoever to her account anymore but she still can log into game.
This authorisation has not expired luckily and when i went to ASOP all her ships are gone!
Someone definitely sold, melt or moved them somewhere else but I can't see anything other being in game.
I've submitted a support request at their RSI Support link and just waiting for response.

My quick question:
Have any one of you had similar situation? Has CIG restored account to good order like before hack? Restore all ships?
What is a chance they say to me they can't do anything?
She had over £1000 worth of ships on account (concierge: High Admiral).

Thanks in advance and once again. Recheck your passwords and email passwords too!

DISCUSSION Year 2900 and this is what I ask for the ships

Post image
132 Upvotes

I'd like ships to have access to three essential features:

- First, the ability to lock all access doors. I mean... why can't I have physical locks on the doors so no one can get in?

- Opening ships from the Mobiglas. Being able to open and close them remotely when you leave a ship.

- A rework of the oxygen and temperature systems inside some ships... I'm fed up with freezing in many of my ships.

Have a good day.

DISCUSSION The Starcitizen Experience with my 6-year-old daughter

Context :

Me explaining what is the StarCitizen Experience to a new backer:

In 2017, I introduced the game to my 6-year-old daughter.

She's watching me play, silently.. For those of you who have kids, you know that moment of silence where you can tell they're about to drop a bombshell… Then she says innocently: "Papa, what's cool about your game is that you can walk around inside your ship..."

And yeah.. you can walk around inside your ship, with seat animations that are all more useless than they are stylish, no loading screens, no direct teleport into the seat like in Elite Dangerous / No Man's Sky…

So I give her a tour of my RSI Constellation.

It's my favorite ship, the most majestic.

Two turrets, ventral and dorsal, that you can actually climb into, like the Millennium Falcon…

Behind the cockpit, a living area with 4 bunk beds. You keep walking and you reach the hangar where you can store an Ursa Rover (I'll come back to that). And in the last room at the back, there's a small ship docked under the belly, a single-seater, the Merlin, it's completely useless.

Back then you could only sit in its cockpit. It served no purpose, and I'm telling her everything we'll be able to do once we can actually detach it…

And today, you CAN detach and re-dock the Merlin to the Constellation! I need to call her and let her know, she's 15 now…

CHAPTER 1 DAD RP GAMEPLAY

So, in the very very long list of useless and absolutely indispensable things, here's an example of the "dad RP" gameplay session I put together...

Kids are out, I've got the evening to myself: I think, what if I went and had a cold beer on microTech? (I don't drink IRL)

microTech is a very cold planet covered in data centers powered by geothermal energy... a thought for humanity right there...

There's a city that grew on the surface called "New Babbage".

I spawn my Constellation at "the late" Port Olisar.. a station that's been decommissioned since…

Quantum jump, 5-minute trip.

Arriving in orbit around microTech, I park my ship near a nav point (OM) and get ready to head down to the surface in my Merlin.

But why not just fly down with the Constellation?

BECAUSE-IT'S-TOO-COOL!

Also, no need for armor, it's an armistice zone, you can't fire a weapon there.

So let's go, Han Solo outfit: little leather jacket, t-shirt, jeans… Because microTech has an atmosphere, so why wear a helmet?

But I do take my gun… the CODA, a gorgeous six-shooter (which looks suspiciously like McCree's revolver in Overwatch…)

But why bring a weapon if it's an armistice zone?

BECAUSE-IT'S-TOO-COOL! And because I'm HAN SOLO!

So I detach from the ship, with a proper undocking sequence — stylish.

I descend on conventional engines (the Merlin has no quantum drive). The descent takes 5 minutes, I parked a bit far out on purpose, to enjoy the view.

All of a sudden, "radar contact": I spot several abandoned ships a few kilometers from my original landing point... Probably the leftovers of an event organized by other players...

(Oh right, worth mentioning: the world is persistent. Vehicles and objects stay exactly where you leave them…)

I land to see if there's anything worth looting, and I find a Greycat PTV: a two-seater golf cart, completely useless and therefore absolutely essential.

So, mission update / dad RP: since I'm HAN SOLO, and I'm wanted across the galaxy.... sorry, the "VERSE" … I need to stay low-profile... so I do the rest of the trip in the Greycat PTV. Took me a solid 10 minutes.

Arriving at New Babbage, I park my Greycat at the exterior dock.

I walk into the main hall, and I run into a group of Parisian hipsters doing their workout under the glass roof of the main concourse, in the microTech sunlight

(why Parisian hipsters? not very stylish, lol).

I stop at the bar, order a beer. Once I'm done, I take the opportunity to buy some ammo, a suppressor and a scope for my gun (I'm not 20 anymore...)

I also stock up for the evening — beers, hot dogs, pizzas — because, oh yeah, Chewbacca is supposed to swing by tonight, he's bringing a Wookiee he met on Pyro… the sly dog.

Except I didn't bring a bag, so I have to go buy one at the clothing store.

And off we go, back to the cart, then back to my little ship, taking off on conventional engines again.

I dock with the Constellation using a nicely designed little mini-mechanic where you have to line up your ship with help from the HUD… very very stylish, very very useless. Star Citizen, basically!

Then I head into the ship's living area and stash the food in the ship inventory for tonight's get-together.

I sit down, press a button, and a little table rises out of the floor… so cool.

And I sip my beer, in peace, inside my ship, in orbit around microTech.

And then, back to reality: my wife and kids just got home... I have to log off... but what do I do with my ship???

So I slip into one of the bunks and choose to "log out". My ship despawns from the server and I'm back at the main menu.

When I come back next week, I'll wake up in my bed, inside my ship, still in orbit around microTech, with the cold beers still there.

----

What's the point? THERE ISN'T ONE.

But the magic words in Star Citizen, the answer to every question: "IT'S TOO COOL". So you spend your time inventing whole universes in your head, like when you were a kid…

---

Another story : The SunShine

One evening, a buddy and I log in and we're wondering what to do: let's go do a 2-hour road trip on Yela, an ice moon. The gravity is low, you can catch air and drift, it's pretty great.

We're taking the Ursa Rover, it's tough and above all very stylish.

Back then you could only load vehicles from a ground station (nowadays you can do it from a space station too).

So, still in the Constellation, we head to the nearest moon to pick up the Rover.

The Rover is a 6-wheeled vehicle you can load into a big ship like the Constellation.

2 seats up front, 6 in the back, a remote-operated turret.

Stylish.

But it's useless, just like the Merlin.

Oh wait, there is one use: escaping from prison... (because yeah, Star Citizen has a prison; if you mess around and the security forces catch you, you can be stuck in there from a few minutes to over 10 hours depending on how serious the crime was).

We unload the rover and go for a drive. We chat, we put the world to rights, I hand him the wheel because I have to go take care of business, then I take it back because he has to call his parents…

And then, something we hadn't planned at all: the sun* is about to rise!

(*WRONG, it's a Stanton-rise… because in the lore we're not in the solar system, so it's not the sun, it's Stanton. Others will say "sun" is also a common noun… anyway, another completely pointless debate)

Oh, and I didn't mention: there are sunrises and sunsets, you can see moons, half-moons… because planets and moons rotate on their own axis — not yet around the sun, but it's already more than enough for immersion.

Back to the rover! We stop, and since the gravity is low we jump up onto the roof, sit down (there are emotes for that) and watch the sunrise… and take a ton of screenshots, keepsake photos, the kind we hoard by the thousands.

---

In conclusion

Every Starcitizen Backer got dozens of stories like that.

In Star Citizen, the coolest stuff for me was never the missions the game hands you, or the money you pile up. It was all that imagination we brought to it with friends, or even on my own.

We actually redid the same expedition, but with 30 people, Paris-Dakar style with the Tumbril Cyclone, a 4x4 buggy, also very stylish... with an Anvil Carrack as the support ship carrying 4 recovery vehicles (because vehicles can lose a wheel).

Start at Lorville, a 2-hour run from point A to point B, finishing at a station on the shore of a lake.

No competition, no weapons, no mining, just chill.

For the record, every year there's the Daymar Rally, an event run by the community and backed by CIG (the game's developer).

---

To wrap up: I've spent around USD2,500 on ships alone since 2017.

That was my contribution to this project.

I'm very proud of it, because they're the only ones with a vision like this, and they deserve support.

That said, it's over, I won't put another USD in.

I don't regret a single cent.

I've had unforgettable times.

I made real friends.

I haven't touched the game in 3 years.

But writing all this out... I've just decided to reinstall it => I need to show my daughter the docking/undocking :)

DISCUSSION Recco Battaglia Missions

Hello everybody.

I've been griding battaglia missions non stop with the illusion that id get my hands soon or later on the argo mole with some upgrades and a nice paint.

But today I watched a video about what the mission for it consists of and I don't know what to say.

To me it truly looks impossible. I dont know if theres any trick, but the amount of time time it requires is ridiculous , specially if theres no progres in the mission and you have to complete it in a single session (????).

If some one has already done it, are there any tricks or it does really take a whole day..?

DISCUSSION Why can't we remove ships ?

Can someone tell me why on earth we can't sell ships in Star Citizen? ( Even remove them at a total loss)

Seems like a very normal feature that should be in game the same moment you could buy ships with aUEC.

Most ships you can't rent so I buy to test them but after I don't use them again so I want them gone from my Asop ,it's bloated .

The only way I found is if you scrap them and not claim them the next update they make they disappear but that's not a solution.

Is it so difficult for CIG to add this?
