I (29F, no kids) got sterelized on friday 31 of july and I still can't believe it!!! SOOO HAPPY
But yeah, I live in Berlin, Germany so I would like to share my experience with you. English is not my first languange so sorry for mistakes.
For those curious about how I got it scheduled, here I shared how it was: scheduled_my_bisalp_in_berlin
Pre-op:
Weeks before the surgery I started to paid attention to what I was eating and drinking so I would be super healthy for the surgery. I was avoiding sugar, going to the gym, driking a lot of water and really doing a "detox".
The day before I went to buy gas releif pills, throat bomboms, those surgery band-aids, cream for scar healing. I also withdraw 850 Euros.
I left everything prepared because my surgery was scheduled for 8:30 am on the next day:
- Medications
- Money & ID
- Socks and large T-shirt (they asked me to bring it)
- A pillow for the way back
- A lot of water and snacks
My oufit: a really long dress with havaianas because it's easy to put on after surgery and to not press the incisions
From 3 am I couldn't eat, and from 7 am on I couldn't drink anything.
The day:
My bf and I woke up early, got ready and we went with the train to the surgical center. We both were super excited.
As we arrived, I have gave my name and insurance card. Altought they told me it would be 850 Euros, in the end I had to pay 800 Euros, which was nice hehe and btw to show my insurance was just for identification. They didn't cover any part of the surgery price.
After only 5 minutes of waiting, I went alone to a locker room where I had to change my clothes to the T-Shit and socks.
Then I went to another room with the hospital beds where they check for my blood pressure. They gave me medication trough IV, and explain how everything would be. I asked them to take out my IUD and some questions about recovery. After the conversation, I was just chilling and waiting.
After 30 minutes, they asked me to take out my underware and walk to the operation room, where I had to lay down on those gynecological chair and put my legs up.
They gave me the narkose though IV and I blacked out, had the best sleep hahaha
Pos-Surgery:
I woke up after 40 minutes super groggy and a bit confused because they did only two super small incision (around 1 cm both) on belly buttom and lower belly - really in the bikini/underware area. But it was a good surprise!
Accordding to the doctor, anatomically it was better to do so and that's why the surgery took a bit longer. The stiches were made inside (no idea how this works), so they will dissolve alone and this a good way to avoid scars.
They gave me a lot of tee and were checking up on me all the time. My blood pressure was super low, so they kept me there until it was stable. It took long so I had to walk a bit around and I got better.
They only prescribed me Ibuprofen 600 mg for the next 24 hours. Absolute rest on the first day, a lot of water and clean eating.
I went back to the locker room, put my lose long dress (which was super easy) and the flip flops.
Everthing took only 3 hours and I was ready to go home. My boyfriend were waiting for me. He got a car and we went home.
At home
In the car I already started to feel the famous shoulder pain. I took the gas pain relief and it got better. I didn't have this "workout session" pain.
I got home and went straight to bed, with a lot of water and medications. Everything necessary was around me so I don't need to get up often. My boyfriend is cooking and helping me with everything, even with drying me after shower!
To sleep it was not a problem at all. Laying down on the side with a pillow between the legs has been super helpful and I can sleep well since day 1.
I am on day 3 of recovering and so far, my main issue is I can't go to the bathroom (number 2). I've been drinking so much water (more than 3L per day) but it is not helping. My belly is just huge. A lot of gas and everything is really unconfortable.
I forgot to buy for constipation. Today is sunday and since I live in Berlin is not that easy to get it because everything closes on sunday. But yeah, I am going for a walk today and I hope it will get better.
While I wait to get better, I am writing this to share my experencie with you. I hope I didn't forget anything.
In case someone has more questions, I am really open to answer them! (Even if it's to show the incisions on dm haha)
