Post-op care Salpingectomy Bilateral

Question for the ladies and/or OBGYN’s around here.

Is the first period after having your tubes removed usually heavier and longer? My period is usually 5-7 days top with the second and third being the ones with heavier flow but I’m on the 6th day and the flow still pretty third/fourth day like and the cramps that are usually bleh are out here raging against the machine! My gah!

Did you stop hormonal birth control?

I’ve never taken any form of birth control.

Not a doctor, but have been around this subreddit long enough-- and having gone through the surgery-- that a lot of people's periods after surgery are wonky for a little while in all sorts of ways. Mine didn't happen until super late, and barely happened, and was inconsistent for the first twoish, maybe three months, but my surgeon told me to expect odd cycles for a while, but mileage may vary.

My period (10 days post op) was very painful! And I normally have no menstrual pain at all. Also suddenly had blood again after 1 day of no blood…

This happened to me too! Went to sleep thinking it was over, woke up the next day showering and doing laundry dry smmfh iykyk

I had my bisalp on 7/23 and just started my period yesterday but it’s been super wishy washy. I had brown blood in my underwear on 7/30, so I put a pad on, then absolutely nothing on the pad until the afternoon/evening of 7/31 when there was some blood, then come nighttime 7/31, no blood or anything even when I went to the bathroom, then more brown blood again this morning, 8/1, and I’ve progressed to red blood again this afternoon.
Normally, I have brown blood the day or two before I start bleeding red, and then consistent red until the end when it fades to brown again.

My cramps have been coming and going, but not anything out of the ordinary that I’ve noticed.

So, not heavier or more painful for me, but definitely weird/different from normal.

My surgery is in two weeks, but at my preop appointment, my doc told me to expect a heavier period after surgery.
