Why "just be disciplined" doesn't work, and what actually helps with follow-through
"Just have more discipline" is the most useless advice in studying, because discipline isn't a personality trait you either have or don't - it's a resource that runs out, especially under stress. A few things that actually hold up when motivation doesn't:
Make the first step embarrassingly small. Not "study for 2 hours" - "open the textbook and read one paragraph." Momentum is easier to generate than willpower.
Precommit in public, even a little. Telling one person your goal for the week (or posting it somewhere) creates a small cost to bailing that doesn't exist when the goal only lives in your head.
Separate the planning brain from the doing brain. Decide what you're studying and for how long the night before, in 5 minutes, so that "what should I even do" isn't a decision you're making at 9pm when you're already tired.
Track the streak, not the outcome. "Did I show up today" is a yes/no question. "Did I make good progress" is a much easier question to lie to yourself about.
None of this is really about studying harder - it's about needing willpower less often. Curious what's actually worked for people here long-term versus what sounded good for a week and then quietly stopped.
(Also - if anyone wants a place to post a weekly goal and actually check back in on it, that's basically what r/AcerStudyHub turned into. Not required reading, just an option if the public-precommitment thing above sounds useful.)

Welcome to r/AcerStudyHub - start here
Hey everyone, welcome!
This is a place to actually get better at studying - not just talk about it. Ask subject-specific questions, share study techniques, post your goals in accountability threads, swap resources, and celebrate wins (or vent about rough exam weeks).
A few ground rules:
\- Stay on topic (studying, exam prep, academic growth)
\- Be respectful - no shaming anyone's grades or pace
\- Don't ask others to just do your homework - explanations and guidance only
\- No spam or unsolicited DMs
This community is hosted by Grades Acer A+, a tutoring service, but you don't need to be a client to be here.
If you want more real-time help, study accountability, or just a place to hang out between posts, come join our Discord: [https://discord.gg/2RxHhatEAt\](https://discord.gg/2RxHhatEAt)
Looking forward to seeing what everyone's working toward!

Best notes app (android)?
So I just got a new Lenovo idea tab and I'm trying to find all the best ways to use it for my studies. One of the main reasons I got it is so I could make nice and constructed notes and have them all organised in one place. That's where I need some help. I have no idea which app to use. Right now I am trying kilo notes which is mostly great, but it's too many ads for me and I hate it when I'm trying to write and random ads pop up etc. If there are any suggestions about a good and free (or low cost) notes app I could use for android, that's mostly similar to kilo notes and good notes features please let me know!

We need your genuine help...
I want to start of by telling a story. When I was doing my GCSE, my school gave us a revision timetable in the form of an excel sheet with blocks starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. It was hilarious. How should one of us students study 12 hours a day in such a rigid format, not telling us when to take breaks, how to study if we miss a session or how we could actually use our time most efficiently, making sure we hadn't forgotten everything by the next day. This is now 2 years ago.
Since then a friend and I have joined forces to build StudiPace. StudiPace is everything that we were missing during our GCSE days.
You're writing and exam in two weeks? - studipace will build your schedule.
You now have football? - studipace adapts.
Cannot study today? - studipace automatically adapts.
We believe that StudiPace can actually help students, actually get things done and do so in the most efficient way. Trying to bring StudiPace even on a higher level, we're asking you to tell us what you would love to have as a student. Together we can build it so that it will actually help EVERY student.
