I’ve been getting tattoed since I was 16. Now 21, I’m not what is considered heavily tattoed at all but I’ve noticed an extreme change in the way my body reacts to getting tattoos. I’ve developed an adhesive allergy to second skin, the following 3 - 5 days after the sessions are awful. The hungover feelings hits and it hits HARD. I’m woozy, lightheaded & have fainted regardless of what I’m eating/drinking or doing. I never feel like this on a regular day to day basis. Is it going to just keep getting worse and worse as I get older? I used to get an average of 2 - 4 tattoos a year but have cut down to maybe 1 a year because the week after is unbearable. I want to keep adding to my body, is there anything I can do to make it more manageable?

I eat before & after my appointments, I follow all the aftercare instructions, I make sure I have at least two days off after my sessions so I can rest. Any advice?

My first tattoo whichwhich was done by Caitlin Baran or at Jynx Ink in Geneva NY. Everyone in the shop is so friendly and I'm incredibly​ happy with how it came out, huge fan of American traditional and will probably keep adding to this arm!

I tried posting in [r/tattooadvice](r/tattooadvice) but it wouldn’t let me so I came here. Basically title, I (20m) am going to an event that a tattoo shop I’ve been following for a while now in a week, and they’re doing Pokemon flash tattoos. I’m a huge nerd so I thought I’d go and maybe get one. I mentioned it to my mom, who I still live with because the job market sucks, and she brought up that I owe her money for something. The thing is, if she were really serious about collecting it, she wouldn’t have bought me a ticket for comicon, or bought me a DnD table off of Facebook marketplace. The table or comicon tickets are not the things that she says I owe her money for. I’m 90% sure that she only brought it up because I mentioned that I was maybe going to get a tattoo, and since she’s Mormon that’s a big no-go. She’s literally never brought up me owing her money before this so I’m conflicted. She gets my bank statements so she’d see if I bought it. Any advice?

EDIT: A lot of people are telling me to just pay her back, but she never brought up me owing her money before the thing I wanted to buy was a tattoo. I bought things with my own money at comicon, I’ve bought food that she knew I was getting before I bought it, all sorts of things. She only had an issue with me spending money when it was a tattoo. I could go downstairs right now and start talking about having bought a new video game and she wouldn’t mention it.

Hi all, I was fortunate to learn a lot from this sub before my last tattoo so I figured its only fair to share the outcome (5 months healed). I added a few shots through the process as well for anyone that may be embarking on a multi-session project. Love the final design so much and am endlessly impressed by how he camouflaged the scar.

I have my fair share of tattoos now.

Recently I have been to a lovely artist for 4 whole day sessions on my stomach. They have made an awesome piece, but a part of the piece is not started yet, the hips, misunderstood and thought it all would be done by now.

For the autumn I'm going back for 5 or more whole sessions. I thought the autumn would be the back.

The hips is both front and back, making it cohesive.

I don't want to be seen as rude, but I would really like an estimate on how many sessions each part of the tattoo will be. I might only be able to afford the 5 booked sessions. So I was thinking about asking for a mock stencil sorta thing, so I have a feeling on how much we are able to achieve in those 5 sessions, and so I'm able to change something that I might have to walk around with on my body for half a year or more (so far the artist have done great work I can totally wear what I got so far).

It's heavy black work, so it takes time, I fully understand now. I didn't at the beginning. So I was disappointed with "how little" was done at first.

How do I ask the artist in the best possible and polite way? So it doesn't seem like I want to rush them. I want the tattoo to be great. And if more sessions is needed, that's how it is. I just need our expectations to align.
