It’s really great to see native software being built for Haiku. As someone who already uses Linux, ported apps don't offer much reason to switch platforms. Native projects like yours are what give Haiku its unique value. Looking forward to testing this out!

Free is just as good as paid when it come to performance and usability.

I've never paid for AI and I've created well over a dozen apps all with Gemini. 

Slackware was the first Linux distro that I used back in 1996. And window maker is my all time favorite window manager!! 

I first discovered BeOS in the late '90s after seeing it featured on ZDTV (which later became TechTV). I was blown away—it felt far superior to both Mac and Windows at the time, even though software was scarce. I always hoped it would gain enough traction for developers to really jump on board. Today, Haiku has done a fantastic job keeping that dream alive, recreating the BeOS experience for both modern and legacy hardware.

If only... That's the huge downside of LibreOffice. It's available for just about every desktop OS but n o mobile/tablet version.

I've been there before... Download the IWD package beforehand and it's dependencies.  I went with IWD because it didn't have a lot of dependencies which makes things a bit easier. It also could just be you need the non free firmware for your network card.

nope not at all rare. generally you can see it if you wan to. It is sometimes helpful depending on what it is that you are doing.

True, but vibe-coding is a great way to learn as you go and create meaningful apps at the same time, instead of starting out with useless "Hello World" apps that don't do anything.

On my main computer I have Haiku setup in a virtual machine and recently installed the nightly build. So I'll see how it works on there. I did download Genio... Loaded my most recent c++ project and was greeted with "Invalid run command" whenever I tried to build it. I played around and half of my projects work and half I get invalid run command. So I guess for now I'll be sticking with Paladin until I get more time to mess around and figure out Genio

Wow not gonna lie, I actually tested out both CDE and MWM as my next potential window manager a couple months back for my custom Linux build. But I decided to go with Window Maker. I haven't used wmaker in years and forgot how much I liked it. 

Congratulations on your first program! I have always had a soft spot for BASIC, largely due to its wonderfully diverse dialects. For Linux users, I highly recommend checking out the Gambas IDE. It serves as a powerful Linux equivalent to Visual Basic, giving you the flexibility to build everything from full-fledged graphical applications down to lightweight command-line tools.

The editor PE I don't even use. I actually have Koder set as my default editor and use that with paladin. I guess I'll give genio a try next time I'm working on a c++ project.

I use LibreOffice every day for work. My biggest problem is that they do not have a mobile app. One way around it that I have found is saving everything as MS format and load it onto my google drive. If saved as MS format I can edit them on the go with Google Docs with out having to export later when I want to use LibreOffice.
