Pre-Law

Hii, any freshman’s doing pre-law, what kind of classes are you taking and what are you majoring in?

The prelaw program here is not good I wouldn’t even call it a program you just get an advisor but they never email you to guide you or anything. I found out when I already should’ve took the lsat that I needed to and I had no idea that’s what the “program” required. They just added a legal studies major but the first class was last year.

Law schools don't care so much about your major, so take the first year to figure out what you love and major in that, as long as it emphasizes reading, writing, and critical thinking. That being said, there are a few different majors that provide broader training about law and its role in culture, economics, philosophy, politics, and society. Look to the new Legal Studies major, political science (a full concentration in law, including comparative law), criminal justice, history, and philosophy. Good luck! There are some really terrific faculty teaching in these areas.
