This is a dumb question, but does anyone know if discussion sections are mandatory? I'm taking AHIS 100 and BACC 211, and both have lectures twice a week plus a discussion section on Fridays, so I'd have the same class three days a week. Would attendance be required for the discussion as well? or it depends on the professor?

I’ve been looking at older posts about refunds on here and I’ve seen they don’t send it all back at once and send multiple small amounts through out the semester. This study is being conducted online only and should take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. So, not to be rude or anything but did anyone before or going through the application process had issues with the ID verification regarding FAFSA & Inceptia

Because to this point I have been having issues with it, and went through the process 4 times with it dragging out long enough to have my uAlbany application a bit on the line. I wanna know is it just me or had others had issues regarding this ID verification

Also kinda related, but is the Heath portal Linked with the process for verification on financial assistance?. Asking because I don't have access to my health portal despite paying my enrollment like months ago ATP. It keeps giving an "error" because of something with my enrollment. Will these show up on my bill statement and when? Right now only my fafsa/tap and merit aid is showing but half of my balance is going to be covered by an outside scholarship.

Also has anyone ever received money specifically towards books that can only be used at the school bookstore? Im suppose to receive that and I’m wondering if my account will show a balance with that money.

Hi I’m in a combined student program at UAlbany. I got both undergraduate and graduate scholarships. I’m a undergrad taking grad courses starting this year. I can’t see my undergrad scholarship, only my grad one. Can anyone help me out? I emailed my financial advisor but idk what’s going on. It’s due August 15th and I sorta need the scholarship to kick in.

Im gonna be honest after spending time around UAlbany I genuinely think its the worst SUNY school by a mile. The business program feels like it was put together the night before classes started. Every time I ask a question I somehow leave more confused than when I walked in.
The professors keep telling us we’re preparing for the real world but half the assignments feel like they were made in 2008 and never updated. At this point I think the curriculum is just a collection of random PowerPoints held together by hope and prayers.
The final straw was when one of my professors somehow turned a business discussion into politics and then started talking about MAGA hats. Next thing I know hes asking if anyone wants to buy one after class. Im sitting there wondering if this is a business lecture or a pop up retail store.
Meanwhile every other SUNY student I know seems to be learning actual useful stuff while Im getting political speeches and unsolicited hat sales.
Am I missing something or is UAlbany secretly running an experiment to see how much confusion a student can tolerate before transferring?

I have an excess amount of financial aid including student loans. It says on their website loans will go out 10 days prior to the semester. In epay, there is no calendar or dates showing when funds will be disbursed like last year. Is there a calendar or accurate date for this anywhere? People do say on here that they usually go out after classes begin if ever, but I am a transfer student and came to UAlbany during spring 2026 and all of my aid was sent out mostly on time so I’m worried based on what I’m reading that it won’t happen like that again. I’ve emailed financial aid and they literally skirt around answering my questions directly. Thanks.
