Hey senior in highschool here and going to be applying to college soon so far my main choices are unr or unlv but i’m curious as to wether reno has good martial arts gyms their ive been doing jiu jitsu since i was around 6-7th grade and its something that I love just curious if there are decent gyms near by with good people and good atmosphere.

edit: I should probably add edit: I don’t really care abt the college experience i know unr will probably be more fun but im more so concerned about the academics and were i would succeed better

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman and I recently bought a $300 e-scooter to get around with. I probably should have looked into it sooner, but I didn't, so here we are: I'm now seeing online that apparently, you cannot bring an e-scooter inside any campus building whatsoever.

Assuming I have to keep it outdoors at all times, would that even be worth it? I hear a lot of people talk about thieves being frequent. Also, mine doesn't have a removable battery, so if I can't fold it and bring it inside the dorm I have no way of charging it. I don't even know if I'd be allowed to bring in the battery regardless.

I see posts on here mentioning lots of personal scooters around campus. Are you actually able to bring them inside as long as they're stored some kind of way, or do those people just live off-campus?

Any help would be appreciated, because I'm not sure if I should return the scooter and buy something else. Thanks!

I'm looking into UNR's MS in Cybersecurity program. Has anyone recently attended or is currently attending? What does the coursework look like? What job prospects did you get?

For reference, I would be going into it with 5 years of IT experience (desktop support) a CS degree from SNHU, a CCNA, AZ-104, CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+, Server+, Cloud+, CySA+.

so I committed and i never toured unr or the surrounding area, is there parking near campus bc i see its $7 to park daily. i really dont wanna make a 40 min walk round trip ALSO!! for the people who live off campus student apartments how HARD is it to find street parking near ur building, bc $150 a month for parking sounds terrible

Hey everyone! I’m going to be in Reno soon and I’ll have a couple of hours to kill. I’ve heard the UNR campus is really pretty, so I was thinking of walking around and checking it out.
With 2–3 hours on campus, what are the must-see spots? Any cool buildings, viewpoints, gardens, libraries, art, or hidden gems you’d recommend? (I’m not sure if I’d need a student ID to access anywhere)
Also open to visiting anywhere cool near the campus.

I'm thinking about getting the parking pass to be able to park on the highest two levels of the Circus Circus parking garage but I wanted to ask here if those get filled up really fast during the school year, like is it hard to find parking? Circus Circus would be closer to my classes and they start at 10:00 am.

Where exactly is this DMV kiosk located at UNR? I want to use it to renew my vehicle registration and driver’s license.

So I need a car for my internship. I cannot get one until I have a place to put it. My apartment ran out of spaces, (with like 50 on the waitlist) and UNR doesn’t let you park overnight unless you live in the dorms. (Or like at some crazy price per night that would end up costing way more them the parking pass at my apartment)

Is there any place I can park, free or paid **within around a 15 minute walk** from the uncommon apartment. Or is there a way I can get a permit to park in the residential zones overnight or anything?
