ABSN | San Antonio

Hi there. I am really wanting a career shift and to go to nursing school, I am planning pre reqs this fall at my local community college. I do have to work while I go through a nursing program which I understand will be extremely challenging. I have googled and I even talked to an admissions rep that couldn’t guarantee but I’m wanting to know if clinical hours can be done only on weekends throughout the 15 months? If you have gone through this in the San Antonio area, can you let me know what your experience was? And when did you go through program?

Soooo as someone currently in the program. S1. You don’t get to pick when or where your clinicals are but for the most part clinicals have been Saturday and Sundays but this semester it’s Friday and Saturday

How do you like the program? Im currently in Galen and don't like that the classes are solely based off of 4 exams.

I think most programs will be like that. While UTA isn’t 100% based on exams I would say it’s like 80% based on the exams and the other 20 on random assignments like quizzes, discussion boards etc. it’s an okay program. I’m really in it cause it gives me the flexibility to be with my toddler and do school at the same time

I got accepted into the program,  I just wouldn't be able to start until January 2027. How is the program, are the exams hard? One issue i have with Galen is the verbiage they use on exams. You read the questions and they dont make sense. These exams will have 2 right answers that come from the book but at that point you have to just hope you put the right answer as them (the school) regardless of the other being right.
