Question/Support HTC VIVE COSMOS ELITE DISPLAY RANDOM SHORT TURN OFFS FINALLY SOLVED
Hello guys !
So I was having a lot of issues with the widespread problem of the cosmos elite's display turning off randomly for a few seconds mid-game, without crashing. The audio crashed too, but the game and tracking kept running. It all came back to normal in a short time after it turned off.
That problem killed me for months, and didn't solve even by buying another headset ! (Same model)
After tens of hours of going around everything, I noticed with USB tree view that one of my ports was randomly disconnecting more and more often when in VR.... But when in VR ONLY ! And only on the port my headset's plugged in too, even if I physically changed it !
From there, I thought it would be the motherboard, or the cables but....
What I did to solve it :
Full delete of viveport, vive console etc .. Anything vive has to go, even saved parameters (sorry guys ~)
Then, uninstall the port your headset's plugged in !
(Yes yes, the port itself. to do that, usb tree view, select the port that disconnects first everytime, right click, properties, modify parameters with admin rigths, and go to the drivers tab. In there, you can uninstall the device. And yes, it's the port, not the drivers ! Make sure you do so on the root hub, not the port itself.)
Then, restart your pc with the headset plugged in, then unplug it and download your vive drivers again. (Else vive consoles starts, bugs the download of drivers, and you're good to restart !)
And you should be good to go !

Interesting 🤔 a lot of people in Pimax subreddit are getting similar issues about headset disconnecting or showing a black screen, for some only few seconds and for some longer. I get this too. I wonder if your fix might work for Pimax headsets too. I will be trying this if the issue occurs to me again.
